I’ve got a 13 , my son has just got the 16 …. Having had an hours play with the 16 , I’d recommend buying the 13 ! apart from minor differences in the camera which most people won’t use , there is not a lot of difference ….. I believe the 14 is marginally better than the 13 so perhaps the 14 is the better deal ……. given I’ve had the 13 for 3 years and looking at at least another 2 years , I’d strongly recommend 256 gb

To add another thought, I would buy a new iPhone for USB-C - that's the #1 draw. The biggest downside are the bigger phones, I love how small my phone is in the pocket. I'd also miss touch ID, but hope it returns next year on the power button or something. The new cameras are better, but I've come to be satisfied with my SE's camera. At first I wanted a two- or three-camera design, but now my phone's lone camera has become a point of pride, of minimalism. I've come full circle, from wanting more to being satisfied with what I've got.

It was my favourite phone ever. I sold it last year because I convinced myself I needed the Pixel 8, which broke down a few weeks ago. I replaced it with a Pixel 9, and it felt really out of place, expensive, screaming for attention. Realised that I made a mistake and returned it the next day. I bought a used 13 Mini a few days ago, and I'm glad to be back to it!

iphone 13 will get atleast ios 20 and iPhone 12 would probably stop at ios 19. If your budget is not too tight you can go with iPhone 13. I recently bought a refurbished iPhone 12 mini and its great.

If you need a new phone and don't really care about the latest generation, get an apple refurbished. That's how I got my 12 mini last year. 14 pro and max are good used phones but for the base 14, just get the 13 unless you will get the plus.

How can the 14 be a better value at $600 than a 16 at $800? While it may be true that you’re getting a similar experience now, the 14 will experience degraded performance sooner than the 16. However long a 14 will last you, we have to assume that the 16 will last you around 2 years longer. If the 14 lasts you 6 years, that comes out to $100 a year, which would mean the 16 equals the same cost per year over its 8 years. Most people probably aren’t going to be getting great performance out of the 14 in 6 years (think of using the iPhone 7 today), which would make the 16 cost less per each year of use.

Bro this is the best iphone content i've seen so far. You are not one of those tech vloggers who are so obsessed with apple that they say the 14 is trash coz of the notch the 15 is trash coz of the 60hz but in reality all those phones are beasts even the XS is still a beast. the chips are being upgraded every year but the only thing that you'll notice an upgrade is through gaming and a little bit on the camera side which is not a big deal for 70% of the people purchasing a phone. I'm rocking a 14 and it's so beautiful and still is a beast of a phone I won't upgrade until it becomes really useless.

I've gotta say, nobody should buy the base iPhone 14. Compared to the 13, it has the same screen, very very minor chip improvements (basically the A15), a slight (unnoticeable) upgrade to the ultrawide camera, and crash detection. Just get the 13 or 13 pro instead of the 14, because unlike other comparisons, it's ACTUALLY the same phone this time. (unless you really need that extra year of software support)

You should take into account security updates. An iphone 13 is gonna run out of updates in the next 3 years. Newer phones will have double that. At that point, the older phone would need to be less than half the price of a newer one to be worth it

You should receive 3 years of IOS updates + 2 more years of security patches. If purchased today the 13 pro is $450 and should be able to be sold for $200 at that point. $250 for 3 years of usage is quite good, especially when a 16 pro would cost you $1000 with 6 years of iOS updates. Taking the same $200 sold for price point at the end you are looking at $800 for 6 years of support. The 13 Pro makes more sense financially, BUT if you want to keep a phone for 6 years, then definitely go for the 16's

So yea, it works out to $250 vs $400 of cost over the same timespan. So just gotta figure if that extra ~60% premium is worth it for hardware thats 3 years newer. Battery improvements, display and soc performance being the main ones. Thanks for the extra homework you did :)

128 GB? I would say no less that 256 GB, because of photo size, updates, and app updates.
