As the saying goes ‘it’s in the details,’ and the improvements with the 13 mini: brighter screen, camera software (cinematic and photographic styles) and updated larger pixel size wide camera, newer processor (another iOS update or 2?), [just] enough battery for a day’s use, smaller notch (on a small display I’ll take any more space I can). I bought the 13 mini coming from the almost same size old SE when they came out, so been using it a few years now and don’t have any complaints. Very easy to use with one hand or in the pocket, it’s a phone first, but can do the other things a smart phone does (within the display size limitations), and a very compact camera that does the job.

Seems like a good device in 2024. Personally, I went from an iPod Nano 7, to an iPod Touch 6th Gen, then to a 7th Gen, and finally to an iPhone SE 3. So, I'm used to small screens. Honestly, if the iPhone SE 4 gets the 13 Mini chassis I am 100% upgrading to that.
@spec8888Ай бұрын
I've gotta say, I love smaller iPhones, I've tried the SE, loved the size, but the LCD screen sucks, and I was nervous about buying a 13 mini because of the battery life (and the price), but I recently bought a XS and it's at 81% battery health, and even that makes it through my day, so 13 mini is next on my list. One other thing is that, because the XS barely makes it through the day (i was at 6% one day with heavy use), I've been using it less, which has been nice. Less insta scrolling, less "being on my phone just to be on my phone." With all this in mind, the 13 mini might even be a downgrade from the XS in terms of keeping healthy screen time habits, but I'm also really missing the ultrawide lens, I didn't realize how much I used it until now. Really been starting to use older iPhones/downgrading phones this past year-ish, and it's so amazing how long Apple supports their devices. Keeping all my devices on iOS 17 for now, because I tried 18 on the SE and it was awful, and super buggy (iOS 18.0.1), and so i IPSW restored back to 17.7 and now it's good again. I'll have to live with the fact that if I buy a 13 mini now, it'll be on ios 18, and 17.7 is no longer signed, so I'd love to hear your thoughts on iOS 18 (performance and bug wise) if you don't mind. Love your channel and your mindset

I just went for a 13 Mini after having a 12 Mini for 4 years. With Apple no longer selling minis in any condition, I didn't want to wait too long until none of them existed in good shape. I do think a fresh battery plus better battery life will make this a worthwhile long-term phone. I can't easily charge in my old vehicle or motorcycle so when I'm on the go I'm always worried about having it topped up. Heat is a problem when just charging plus driving (especially with GPS!) so a battery case would run into issues, I think.

I've had my 13 mini for over a year now and I LOVE IT. It's exactly what I've wanted from an iPhone for a long time, a compact flagship. My only complaints are entirely software related: 1. In order to preserve battery health, I wish there was an option to manually enable slow charging past 80% instead of relying on the "Optimized Battery Charging" feature to detect your charge schedule. (I don't have a consistent charge schedule so it rarely turns on automatically.) 2. I don't like the post-processing on photos taken with the camera. It tries really hard to reduce noise, but it just looks like an over-sharpened oil painting, much worse than how they looked on the viewfinder. I'd rather just have the natural raw photo. But, all modern iPhones do this. It's not specific to the 13 mini. And as with a lot of issues on Apple products, a simple option to disable it would suffice. Apple certainly doesn't like giving options lol...
@tadarohn33052 ай бұрын
Thank you, your message made me understand something I really don't like with my photos, I thought there was something enabled that I couldn't find, but it's seems that it's just this "post precessing" you're talking about, and I totally agree, it doesn't go in the right direction most of the time and makes your photos look a bit weird ...

Honestly the name "iphone 18 pro mini" sounds very off. Wanted to have compact phone for the last time while I still can((( Pros: - It's small - love it! - It has double CPU power compared to Pixel 5 - FaceID is actually good - Animations is way smoother on iOS (Not sure it's because of much powerful CPU or because of iOS) Cons: - Display cutout is huge compared to Pixel 5 front camera circle in a corner - No always on display - No 90Hz display, only 60Hz - Lightning instead of type-C - Unable to quickly launch camera by double tapping power button - Need to double tap power button to pay - Caller app is so 2010 compared to Google. With Google it's so easy to organize contacts and spam filter is AWESOME. - No standardized way of back navigation. I missed Android back button so much!
