Well, I am watching from Munich, Germany.. I am Irish myself (naturalized but originally from Sub-continent) and found your channel while searching for traditional Irish music on YT... I miss Ireland a lot its been a while in Germany now but not a single weekend that I missed Ireland and watched towns, rivers of my beloved Ireland on YT.... Living in Ireland for more than 10 years made me always think that my blood is green :)..... thanks for the share..... keep up the good work... They say here in germany "Sehr Schön und Wunderbar Musik"

Many years ago, when I was stationed outside of Washington DC, I attended a conference at a hotel near downtown Washington. I chanced across the street to an Irish Pub to check out the lunch offering. Guinness and corned beef sandwiches! Live music also! I often wondered it this might have the pub in the the movie "Patriot Games". I still enjoy my Guinness, though it isn't a nice as a pint from the tap!

heaven to my ears, best thing is, I could be having the shittest day ever, for whatever reason, the instant I start blasting trad. Irish tunes or songs by Gaelic Storm, whatever has ruined the day no longer matters. can't wait to experience this vibe in person in my upcoming first ever trip to Ireland (or anywhere overseas for that matter) this July-August. Sorry, I know this is an old video but I've always wondered: How does everyone know this music so well? I know about 20 irish tunes well enough to jam on the banjo to, which isn't super impressive but I've never even heard these two. Do they decide which songs to play ahead of time so people can practice at home before a session? Or does everyone there know 1000 songs perfectly at any given moment?
@onlineacademyofirishmusic Жыл бұрын
Everyone learns the same tunes, so if you know the tune you play along. Ear music is amazing, many musicians know 1000's of tunes with no need for sheet music or reminders.
@irishflutegirl9022 Жыл бұрын
True . My session in my city .. we all learn the same tunes and sets .. we make sure we communicate what new ones we learn , we play and share , we record the sessions on our phone and we can learn them on home the ones we don’t know and play them the next week . I started leaning Irish music in 2015 and what started with one tune by memory “ the butterfly “ has grown into hundreds of tunes and sets memorized , I love the freedom - no sheetmusic . If you work hard to Learn the tunes it pays off !
@dacotv7234 Жыл бұрын
Good question
@SolarMumuns9 ай бұрын
Also the tunes are very formulaic and similar to one another, which makes it easier to memorise and/or play along.
