I'm from India, and I visited Ireland in 2014, for 2 months, on a business trip. In those two months, I experienced Irish hospitality, work culture, travelled across the land and really liked the countryside, and the relaxed way of life of the Irish people. Me, a brown man, a complete foreigner in their land, with a foreign accent. But still, each and every Irish person I met and interacted with, was so nice to me, and welcomed me into their culture, took extra care of me, and made me feel good. Such a nice race of people. I am looking forward to revisiting Ireland.

Mini R. My Dad was from Fanore, County Clare Ireland. He met Mom here in northwestern Iowa. My Mom's mother was born in Ireland and her father in Holland. That makes me (proudly 75% Irish) and 25% Dutch but 100% American. The farming area in which I live is predominantly of Dutch descent, followed by German and to a much lesser degree, Irish. With corn and soybean fields as far as the eye can see, it's the best place to live.

Genetically, Basque people and people in the west of Ireland have markers in common. Evidence of migration between the two areas exists. Many people in west Galway look very different to the stereotypical Irish person. I'm from this area, and sometimes get mistaken for Spanish....sometimes by Spanish people, who are embarrassed when I cant reply to them in Spanish. My son has red hair and super white skin though.
