You must compensate for different lofts. A little math can do this but it's totally unfair to award the same points for distance when there are different lofts. You can calculate what the others brands WOULD be if they were all the same loft. Or you can divide average distance and loft and get yard per degree or something like that. Or better, learn how to adjust lofts and bend them all to the same loft, overriding the manufacturer's gamesmanship.

All of these sets will outsell both the Vice and Takomo, even though they may perform decently. I actually improved my swing/scores after moving away from “game improvement” irons to the ones rec’ed for much better golfers than I was. The guy who fitted me was actually quite apprehensive, but I knew what I wanted & was confident I could hit them. Which, obviously, I can now. I honestly think the mental side plays a big role too in the club-fitting. If you are confident you can hit a “low handicapper” iron & the feel/look good to you at address, man, go for it. I absolutely LOVE my T100S set. If price was more of an issue & I were to replace them, I’d prob go w/either the Wilson or Takomo set. The Vice looks ugly to me. Burning reality, when I get my next set in 2-3 years, I’ll prob go the T-150 if they are still selling those.

@GregKuper-c8p5 күн бұрын
Does static loft not factor into dynamic loft? I think it might . . .
@lawbinson5 күн бұрын
@GregKuper-c8p Assuming that everyone delivers the same loft relative to static is the issue. I'm saying we need to know both. If we can see the difference between dynamic and static that Rick delivers vs someone who delivers little to no shaft lean, that gives so much more context. Aside from fitting, the OEMs also claim that CG locations and face flexing can alter dynamic loft to manage height. Without Dynamic Loft, how do we validate that claim? Static loft factors into dynamic loft but that effect is specific to someone's swing. It is the most direct path to altering height, but you only know which way to go when you have Dynamic Loft.

I'm not a 'hater' (not even a disliker 😁), but I agree with some of the comments about criteria. Firstly, getting points for distance when the lofts are not the same, is irrelevant and biases what really isn't a 'low handicapper' club. Secondly, since aesthetics is so subjective, it really shouldn't be included. I bet if we (all commenters) ranked them, and tallied the totals, they'd all end up with virtually the same score. Thirdly, front-to-back dispersion is more important to low handicap golfers than left-to-right, so distance dispersion would be a better measure of 'accuracy'. Finally, it should have been a 'points out of 10' scale. If the Wislons felt so much better than the others, and the Takomo were so much cheaper, they should get proportionally more points. Then take away 7.5 yards from the Vice distance for the jacked lofts, and ... we have a new winner. My money is on the Wilsons, (well it's invested in them actually) but hey, I'm not biased 😉

What about mid-low handicap irons like p770's or i230s
@AP7835 күн бұрын
How do you leave out the SRIXON ZX7. Do they just not send you clubs for free to review ? You need to include Srixon irons in your reviews to be well covered.

8:28 the profile picture is Takomo 301CBs for the Wilson Staff Model. Might want to fix that....

The Vice are just cheap enough and lofted just strong enough to win this.

😂
@MrChrisLNT5 күн бұрын
you need to do yard per degree of loft otherwise data is skewed to the heavier lofted clubs

Hi Rick can you tell me if I need to put my 3 wood shaft on my mini driver and the same length as well? Can anybody can answer my questions?

Why are the Vice irons not in your bag?

Titleist all day for me. Keen to try the new Srixons and Mizunos but not ready to replace my 718 AP2s just yet. Keep your Takomo, Vice and these other direct to consumer brands. If you can’t hit it and get fitted for it, they’re a bust. I ain’t buying a set of irons online on a wing and a prayer

Where do you place the taylormade p770 ?? I feel like nobody gives them love 😅

No Mizuno 243, or Srixon, also hate the ping, always dislike the chunk missing from the hosel.
@jimmyberry24294 күн бұрын
I am surprised at the disregard for Mizuno clubs in these reviews, especially mid and low handicap players.

length repeatability is more important than absolute distance for low-handicappers.

Watching this like it applies to me

Distance is not a great category for low handicap golfers. Consistency would be my number 1 category. Which irons provide consistent distance is a key feature for my next irons.

Saw these Vice irons today for the first time in person. In the bag next to you them looked great, down by the ball big no no. They looked way to large and ”cheap” for my eye.
