@@Yor-s6g Actually, that is because the GPU just can't handle 9800X3D speed, yet. You need at least 7090 or 8090 to be able to run at higher res with 9800X3D. Even 5800X3D is still beating Ultra 285 and 14900K to a pulp if you put higher res.

Now a new gen 9800x3d and still no diff. Four years later and there's no point in upgrading more or less. All these videos showing tons of benchmarks in 1080 to show the % diff seem so niche to me. Ppl with a low budget are still playing at 1080 and will not be upgrading to these expensive parts so only pros are left that need all the fps they can get on one or two fps games and certainly not in cyberpunk or horizon zero dawn or hogwarts or the last of us...

15:05 are you sure they are getting both CCD cache? according to many leaks even from months back is nearly confirmed to be only one CCD cache and changing for zen 6 for both CCD for cache.

such CPU upgrades are feasible only if something is provlematic like statters in your favourite game which can't be solved by reducing GPU load like modded games and simbased stuff like lategame rimworld and factorio like games (oni) where it's CPU decidung factor of would you play at halve the intended game speed

Managed to snag a "pre order" yesterday and is apparently on its way to me next week (apparently a lot of the uk retailers stock got held up at customs!). After lots of research went with Aorus B650e elite ax ice and Corsair vengeance EXPO 6000 cl30. Spent days researching really hope ive made good choices! Upgrading from 9900k z390 and ddr4 so hoping to notice some improvement 😊

Holy shit the 14900K getting up to 103°C with a 360MM AIO is ABSOLUTELY nuts! I just got a 9800X3D. It is really impressive that it is 25% faster than the 7800X3D in productivity workloads, and it basically eliminated all of the drawbacks of the 7800X3D. It’s within 5% of the 12900K (and matches the 3950X in multi core) in productivity workloads which is extremely impressive.

Will CU-DIMM, when available to AMD, make up the difference in compute? MSI stated that it would be supported but no one talks about it. Is this a future option?

nope you dont, if you dont feel any limitation then dont upgrade. And on that resolution, most of the issue will be on the 4090, so save that for a new gpu

I have a question. I run a 7800x3d clocked to about 4.9 Ghz. It's been rock solid. Is my performance essentially the same as running the 9800X3D at or close to stock. The extra performance seems to be pretty much a result of just higher clocks, but is there any more to it than that? If not then clocking both CPUs to the same speed would give the same performance, but do they?

The Intel 285K performs better by a good margin against a like-for-like competitor, being the 9950X. In gaming performance, it consumes quite a bit less power than the 9950X too.

Quality content as per usual, it might be worth revisiting the starfield test though. 100% something off with your starfield test... in the most demanding area's I get 80FPS on a 5950x paired with a 7900xtx at 3440x1440p all balls to the wall in terms of graphics quality, no FSR or frame gen BS. in the less demanding area's around 180 FPS and in the average area its 120-140 FPS... I do have the CPU boosting to 4.8 all core and 5.1-5.2 for single core boosting though. It could also be the game though, some potato code in that game for sure.
