​@@Datenschutz_Datenschutz black smearing is a motion and response time issue, while black crush is a brightness and colour issue. besides, LCDs don't appear to have black crush because they bleed so much light from the backlight, it's not possible to do a fair comparison. Tune an OLED to the same grey base level "blacks" as an LCD, and it will not have any black crush or smearing, since the pixels won't turn off

@@YounesLayachi i know, but the issue depends on low voltage on those QD Subpixels and the effect looks like black smearing and desaturated colors in those dark areas. Samsung has to work on that issue and improve it. You can't even calibrate it properly - not on SONY A95K, not on Samsung S95B and not on Alienware QD OLED monitor. It's not possible (based on EDID Software) because they know it looks very bad in those near black areas.

I love it whenever any reviewer mentions 2000 nits peak brightness...in a 3% window. Outside of the manufacturing inner circle, no one here can possibly imagine Dolby's first prototype Dolby Vision LCD panels. Each panel was only 1920x1080, and required 2 separate dedicated 20amp circuits (one for the panel's custom LCD diodes, one for the liquid cooling system), and EACH DIODE was 2000 nits. Demos of welding, or sunlight reflecting off a car were literally blinding. Completely mind-blowing.

I always buy the year old model during the pre-Super Bowl sales, once every 10 years. So in 2010 I bought a 2009 LG 42” 1080p with LED backlight which was new at the time. In 2020 I bought a 2019 LG C9 65” 4K OLED. I imagine in 2030 I’ll pick up a 2029 8K 87” with whatever advanced version of quantum dot is available in 6 years. I wonder if they will add cyan, magenta, and yellow QD sub-pixels to help add more real color depth? Or maybe yellow, purple, orange? This could maybe help improve color depth resolution between values? Or maybe there will be something completely new. For now all I know is my C9 is amazing compared to most TVs and I love it so much. Sure these are better but there is always something better around the corner. I grew up with a 19” SD TV with no cable, just fuzzy antenna with foil on the bunny ears, as the primary TV in my house. I’m about Linus’ age, and it’s interesting as I get older, I get more patient about technology. I already feel like I live in the future with amazing devices, so I don’t feel lacking. I recently got my first 3D printer and it just blows my mind what I can dream up in Blender and then print.

haha oh man. I wish I had that type of restraint and could handle having old tech like that. Alas, my tech enthusiast nature always has me chasing the best of everything. I am already chomping at the bit to replace my main gaming desktop display (48 " LG OLED C1) that I have now had for a year. Before that I rocked the Samsung Odyssey G9 for about 8-10 months but really couldn't get used to 32:9. I have used 21:9 and really enjoyed it, but 32:9 really did not do it for me. It warped perspective in games more often than not even if they did support 32:9 and unless you are just a race sim or other type of sim game player, I wouldnt recommend. Anyways yeah, cool that you can hold off for that long!

Especially after calibration as the Samsung panels drop to 1500 nits. MLA on LG panels will do the same. The key differences after calibraiton are color accuracy and shadow detail. Wait for Vince over at HDTVtest to compare.

I just want Samsung to make like a 42" or 48" QD-OLED monitor equivalent to the Asus/LG OLED in those sizes. I've been wanting to mount one that size above my ultrawide for not only a fullscreen video editing preview (because I shoot/edit raw footage a lot with my blackmagic camera), but also a way to still be able to double as a gaming monitor (for less aggressive titles like rpgs/adventure/racinggames/etc) so that I don't have to worry about burn in from my status bar and other computer icons and such. And of course, the occasional media consumption (movies/shows/anime) in QD-OLED would be nice without having to have a separate tv.

My LG ultrawide monitor finally went out after 8 years, used every day for 10-15 hours. I want to upgrade to an 82 inch or whatever size they make, don't really care if its QD.

The "maxing out" of dimming zones is an assumption that current tech doesn't keep improving. They have 1000 dimming zones on a 17" now, do that math. It'll keep improving but only as long as it makes sense to. If they made OLED and QD-OLED tech that doesn't burn in and is brighter and doesn't need dimming procedures etc, then maybe miniled will go away. The QD-OLED pixel formation is still not good enough for text. IMHO so there's that. PS- the Antireflection coating was a turn off last year, so its good to hear they may have improved it, at least in brightly lit rooms, we have to see how the actual anti reflection is, notice they are all in a dark room.

That tv was super bright and punchy for months then after a firmware update the max brightness was around half of what it used to be.

Vincent at HDTVTest discovered that Samsung's image processing was over-brightening scenes, except at standard test windows (3% window, 5%, 10%, 15%, etc.) so they could simultaneously pass most calibration tests and appear more punchy to lay viewers. It didn't magically make the TVs more capable of brighter images, it just introduced a bias, pushing the images up the tonemapping curve for any given brightness (except for near the maximum of the TV's capability, of course). Samsung got called out for this deceptive practice, so they "fixed" it back to the way it should have been.

2000 at 10000k color, they always forget to mention that. Once you put it on cinema or game mode or standard mode anything other than vivid color drops to closer to normal 6500k and you lose 30% brightness

As a (pretty new) owner of a C2 77" i always fear ill regret my purchase. But then again with QDOLED i havent seen anything but 65" yet and that would be too small for my usecase. And honestly regretting that buy would be such a first world problem anyway :D Enjoy what you got. Tbh its the content your gonna watch anyway. Look, you can call OLED the endgame, but until you can prove that it will not get burn-in for AT LEAST 10 years I am not buying an OLED display. Seriously, what is the point of splurging on an 'endgame' monitor if it lasts only a couple years. The risk is just too big. Most people buy a display and expect to use it for over 5 years, and if it's an 'endgame' display that you spend more money on, you obviously expect even more. "months" is not enough, "3 years" is not enough, until it's 10 years forget it, otherwise you're spending $300-$500/year on display replacements with these expensive panels.

They've become cheap, normal LCD 4k TV is 500 euros while OLED displays are 1k, it's "only" twice as expensive. IMO it's cheap for how incredible OLEDs look.

@@zoopa9988 First of all, no, I just looked at the prices and the mini-LED would cost about 1300-1500 for the reasonable 65in model while OLED is about 1800. Secondly, I intend to use it as a third monitor displaying a static image most of the time 15h a day. And I want it to last 5-10 years bare minimum, as TV sizes have gotten bigger than my wall and picture quality is practically 'endgame' today with miniLED or OLED. Take in consideration the average salary of about 1500 net where I live, and think again. I get it that if you live in the US buying a TV is couch cushion change. In the EU it is an actual life-impacting financial decision with lower incomes and high import taxes baked into our prices.

Even a non-OLED display may not survive for 10 years, especially if you're going to use it that heavily, that's outside the "norm" Price may also not be that important since it's probably the energy bill that's going to be costing you the most if you are going to be using it that much. It also doesn't seem like you need an OLED or Mini-LED display, so why not just go for some eco-friendly non-Mini-LED LCD? Seems like whatever you're going to put on that display will look good enough with a normal LCD panel. Electricity bills increased by 300% where I live, may even more, not sure where in the EU you live but electricity prices may very well be your biggest issue.

@@why_though I've just looked at the prices, I was almost spot on LG 55UQ80006LB (2022) at 582 euros while the LG OLED55CS6LA (2022) is 1100 euros. I was talking about 55" btw. You can get the LG OLED65C16LA, so we're talking 65" here, for 1479 euros, so yes, that's closer to the prices you were talking about.

@@zoopa9988 ​ First of all, you shouldn't base your TV purchases on the current price of electricity as supply and demand will rebalance and they will normalize in a year or two even if the war stays. Either way a good TV like that would only cost 30€/year in electricity running with a darker PC background so it doesn't matter. Secondly, I obviously also want to use it as a TV so quality matters, especially because it is 'endgame' meaning I would not replace it until it actually dies. My living space is set up in a way where I can use the TV as a third monitor and as a TV at the same time.

I recently purchased a c2… I’m not exactly disappointed in it at all. Plus I was told at Best Buy LG tvs came in far less than Sony and Samsungs. Obviously it’s heresay but I tend to believe it due to the fact that LG has been making OLED tvs for a long time now.

I work at a Best Buy in Cincinnati and i can confirm that LG TVs in general come back in far less than a Samsung, however I also think that may also be because Samsung sells so many more panels in our area. I have a C2 as well and while I agree the QD-OLED panels look amazing, the LG OLED line is nothing to shake at either.

Yea I am rocking the LG C1 as my main gaming desktop display but I've also owned the C9 as a regular tv as well as a C7 before that and I haven't had a single problem with any of these LG OLEDs. That being said, I am looking to poetentially try something new here this spring. Once all the new displays being showed off now at CES release I will take a look at the best one and decide. I am just really excited to see OLED finally truly breaking into the monitor space and also I am really also excited for TV manufacturers to finally go after the incredibly low hanging fruit of building their TVs to spec for gamers. its a FACT gamers upgrade their tvs way more often than the average person and it always just blew my mind how tv makers never bothered to attempt to implement any gaming centered features like cutting down on input latency, adding g-sync/freesync, adding FPS counters, etc. and now that were living in the golden age we have SO much more selection to choose from as PC gamers.... I've been using a OLED TV as my desktop display for a year and I never thought I would see that day. I am considering picking up an OLED 21:9 display to replace my tv tho. really loved 21:9 when I used to have the acer Predator X34 back in the day... I just really want a 4K 21:9 so like 3840x1600 would be amazing.

I am curious if you can check the settings on both the TV's to tell if they tank the 2022 model to make sure the 2023 looks better? I thought a long time ago they had gotten to the point the naked eye can't really tell the difference in a lot of these tv's, so they have to make one look bad so the newer one looks better. To me they are all amazing :D

Since this comparison is done by Samsung so you can bet money on that the WOLED is not properly calibrated while the QD-OLED is. So this is not a realistic comparison at all. There is not much difference for normal use. And Samsung refuse to support Dolby Vision so for that fact alone I would never buy a Samsung TV again.

It's all fine and beautiful, but QD-OLED still has many drawbacks like unsaturated dark colors, activation of quantum dots due to the ambient light and high contrast videos, color fringing due to the triangular pixel setup and potentially higher chance of burn in. Don't get me wrong, I would prefer QD-OLED but there are plenty of use cases for WOLED and the implementation is more important, just look at the results of blind hdtvtest shout-out where QD-OLED had 1st and 3rd place meanwhile WOLED had 2nd and 4th. They are really competitive, especially with this year's MLA

I bought a first gen QLED on the back of the high praise LTT gave it and honestly could not be happier with it. The anti glare coating is goated especially if you have the tv in a room with natural light coming in, it’s so much better than any other tv I’ve used in the past. Desperate to upgrade my monitor to one of the ultra wide QLED’s this year, hoping prices of them start to go sub 1k though 😅

QLED (Or Quantum Dot LCD with LED backlight) is not really that impressive. Same as these QD-OLEDs are barely any better than WOLED. This test is paid for and manipulated by Samsung. And the worst is that Samsung refuse to support Dolby Vision.. That alone makes me stear very clear away from Samsung TVs. Rather take a LG OLED for best price to picture ratio or a Sony with OLED panel from LG for best picture prosessing.

The biggest issue with Samsung is 1. they are not using the new Realtek chipset so it's still only 2 HDMI 2.1 ports and 2. their software is still not up to scratch. LG are still king for calibration and gaming. There's also the issue of pixel layout on computer monitors which can make text look fuzzy. For every day consumption though they look good. They just need to fix a few issues to beat LG overall. LG also has the new MLA panels so we will need Vince over at HDTVtest to compare them side by side.

I have a 43" Samsung QN90B QLED TV in the 43" size on my desk and it's already stunning. I used to get noticeable colour banding while gaming on my old monitor but this TV has entirely eliminated it, as well as having fantastic colours. If these TVs are even better (and by god does it ever look like they are) then I can't wait for them to come down to the 43" size so I can get one later down the line.
