Good job man! Thanks for uploading.I make leather holsters myself. I put the clips away from the body of the gun, just like you did, to keep the width at minimum. Never thought of not covering the body though (to save even more width). I'll try to make one in leather now :)

Did you ever make a leather one and are you selling lol
@wbwills23 жыл бұрын
If it’s good in kydex ,it’ll probably be better in leather.or a mixture of materials. Next big stingray,bullfrog,shark ect I catch & eat I’m going to try to make a holster out of the skin .may have to buy a clip ,screws or something but more than likely have everything that I may need in the shed. Like that design alot but I’m thinking OWB between 1-2 o’clock position. Out doors a lot canoeing ect .might get wet briefly so that’s something that’ll be experimented with. The perfect holster/gun /comfort combo...hmmmm..??..!??

I can completely relate to you with having gone through many holsters for my own K6s. What I have found to be one of the best holsters for this is the Desantis Flex-Tuk. I feel that it protects and secures the firearm better than this solution and adds hardly and extra width. Just my 2 cents to anyone looking for a holster that's actually on the market!

good thinking, i'd only want a small bit of material blocking the gun from my skin for the sake of keeping sweat and oil off the gun, but this was a smart move.

I chopped up a leather IWB holster and ended up with an almost identical design, which I love. All IWB holsters should be designed using this as the benchmark for concealability imo.

great video, thanks for sharing. as a k6s carrier myself, i have to say you have a pretty nice design here. one thing is safety retention, as of now you have the trigger guard click, and very minimal barrel coverage; even though it isn't much barrel. if you had to go hands on with a person what is the possibility of your k6s getting bumped forward, and popping out? it wouldn't take much of a bump to break it free. don't get me wrong, i love your idea. But if you brought the kydex up to the front of the cylinder, you still have a slim profile lesser then the cylinder, and a much more secure holster. again not busting your balls, just an idea. stay safe
@SuperSneakySteve3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. The great thing about making your own is you can make it just the way you like it. I like just enough retention to keep it from falling out turned upside down. That's not a lot, but it can easily be adjusted to how you like it. I've carried this style for years and I love it.

I like the concept, but a I see retention problems. Since the area around the trigger guard is what’s securing the revolver, much forward/upward force does it take to release the pistol. I could see vigorous activity, or something pushing forward on the grip, potentially shaking/dislodging the pistol out of the holster.
@SuperSneakySteve Жыл бұрын
Believe it or not, the trigger guard is how most snap in "Fobus" style holsters work and it works well. I don't have any retentions issues and I can make it has hard or easy as I please by molding the plastic until it feels just right. I have another videos showing how I do this.

I think I'd add a rectangle of leather between me and the gun, not sure I'd want even a stainless revolver against my skin all day but I like the overall idea.

The only issue I have with this is the fact the gun would now rest against my person in a typical Florida IWB scenario. The Kimber is uniquely designed to be comfortable in that situation, good on Kimber, but I'd be concerned about the finish over time.

Everything is a compromise in concealed carry. As long as you wear underwear it won't be on your skin. It's also stainless steel so it won't rust. If anything the constant rubbing on your shorts will just polish it slightly.
