Finally they're doing it. The Smock has been sitting there forever as the model. Even Spyderco inexplicably refused to replicate the buttonized compression lock. Finally somebody is making more knives with this lock type. Now they just need to make one with a knockout design. 🤩

There are a bunch of premium blades I wish these companies would make in a lessr expensive version. Steels like 14c, nitro, 154 and even vg10. Anodized aluminum scales or stainless would be nice. I think certain models would sell in big numbers.

The year of the button comp lock is here! Can’t believe spyderco has been sitting on this all this time after doing the Smock in collaboration with Kevin Smock and with so many models that would be next level if they upgraded them to button compression locks and it takes the Chinese companies to finally exploit this excellent idea that so many of us have been wanting for years! Good job vosteed! Hope to see other companies catch on too!

Thats the old version. This is the new version with top liner lock. You have a button lock version.

Is there any benefit to the button over the crossbar lock? I have all my Raccoons in cross bars. I'm going to pick up the hedgehog and the Raccoon with black blade, carbon fiber handles, and orange thumb stud

Its a compression style lock versus a traditional button lock with plunge lock. Crossbar is probably just as strong. I like it better because there isn’t a bat getting in the way of me opening it. And its more fun to close. Also its better if you prefer a traditional detent versus the sloppy crossbar lock spring detent.

I just got mine from Amazon today and I love it. Shipped in one day I got the blue. I’d almost say it’s better than my remette rhino which has the same style lock except it has a front flipper to and the detent isn’t as strong on the rhino but it’s a good detent still. Just the Vosteed is a lot stronger which I like.

I explained it in the video. It has a real detent. Its a liner not a plunge lock. No spring and more stability

Do you know if this uses the same sized bearings as the hedgehog? The raccoon is my favorite model, I have this version on the way to me right now and want to possibly swap out the bearings for skiffs.

Video drops tomorrow. It takes 5mm 3/64 15 ball skiffs. Not the same as the hedgehog which is 6mm 1/16 13 ball skiffs.
