Of all the videos released showing off this lens, this one is by far the best I've seen - your photos are fantastic and actually in really nice lighting. When all the "day of release" videos came out, I watched them all and was disappointed by what seemed a bit like half-hearted efforts put in to those videos, a lot of sample shots that were just snapshots or shots without any interesting lighting etc. They made me hesitant about buying the lens. I did end up buying it anyway as I'd seen how useful the Canon equivalent was to colleagues in my field and my initial impressions mimic yours - I love it. I'm really surprised at how light it feels (I think it's maybe weighted towards the back more which helps). I can't wait for wedding season to kick in as this is going to be such a workhorse! Enjoyed watching your take!

It's truly commendable knowing we both went to that location that morning, and seeing how you've dialed in your process perfectly, and getting perfect cinematic frames and heading back to town while I was still in the air shooting. It's awesome to see how far you've come since we met years ago. Best video to date

@ i don’t care for Fuji’s SOOC Jpeg. Since my first XT2, I have never bothered about using the jpeg recipes. To me color grading from scratch is 60% of the fun of photography for me. The whole retro dial thing doesn’t do anything for me anymore. And this whole thing that a bunch of KZbin creators keep saying how Fuji has more ‘soul’ and Sony is just clinical and boring is just funny to me. Grass is greener on the other side i guess, cause i feel more inspired with Sony now. The Sony AF is just lights years ahead. The A7RV having both a fully articulating screen and flip out screen 2 in 1 was a huge factor too. For me, i just didn’t feel the same way about all the things that people rave about Fuji. And i just about had it with the AF issues.

I own the 35mm f1.4 GM (my clinically sharp, beautiful bokeh lens) and the Zeiss 55mm f1.8 (my imperfect, rendering machine). I rented the 28-70 f2 for about 5 days to try it out around the house, neighborhood, and on a quick day trip. I was blown away by the performance of this lens. Quite sharp wide open and had excellent rendering/character (similar to my Q2, which I adore). I prefer a smaller/lighter kit and if it weren't for that I'd sell all my lenses and go all-in on the 28-70 f2.
@ab185
@ab185 20 күн бұрын
I'm hoping Sony studied Leica lenses and the 28-70 f2 is a result of that and not a coincidence. I would *love* if Sony focused on rendering/character in the next round of lenses instead of clinicality.
