I had two of these monitors, had to return the first one due to the monitor cycling itself to power off ( caused by a recent firmware update ) sent that back. Onto my second one which has been treating me very well. Many people has complained about these monitors going bad after 6 months and word of advice you should grab yourself extended warranty.
@visualcortex7500 Жыл бұрын
Could you elaborate on this, please. What's going bad with this monitor after 6 months?
@Elton-Singh Жыл бұрын
@@visualcortex7500 After 6 months or around there. I started to experience problems with my DISPLAY port. At first I thought it was the wire swapped that out problem still persists. After it started glitching out on the display port the smart hub started to glitch out as well. When a youtube video plays and starts another video, after 15-20 seconds black screen then video plays back. This kept going for about 2-5 days before the monitor gave out completely. Then after booting up the monitor (the day it broke) it was recognizing all of the things connected (HDMI, PS4, DISPLAY PORT TO MY PC/MAC) and the remote but i can only hear sounds and of course completely black screen. I had the LEDS on the back on, you can see the monitor was trying to reset something causing my black screen but not sure what it was. Then all bs calling up Samsung everyone knows how their customer support is before you can even get a new monitor. Contacted best buy had them take a look and they completely replaced it for free given it was 6 months out of the return policy AND i had no Allstate protection or any 3-5 year warranty to back it up. Seriously if you want this monitor GET THE WARRENTY I KNOW ITS ALREADY EXPENSIVE but it'll ease your headache in the long run.

@@visualcortex7500 I hear dead pixels and blackouts, flickering and ghosting. Also, with the Samsung Smart Monitors, the smart functions and all bogs down the entire display. The problems with the entire G8 lines as well, including the bogging down.

@@Mr_Joe_B_619 Thank you for reply. I decided to buy this monitor anyway and... I have a vertical stripe with a dimmer color that can be clearly seen on the grey background. Didn't have it in the beginning, It appeared this night. I would say it's not as bad as non uniform gray/white and glow on my old IPS monitor but it's there and it's disappointing for that price. The left side of the panel became a bit brighter as well it seems. The left speaker wheezes to a voice sometimes. I read about the smart functions so decided to buy the model without the smart functions builtin. The model name is G93SC. So far happy with this decision, the monitor works like a regular PC monitor. The main concern now is that stripe. I was ready to get burn-in eventually but not in 3 days. EDIT. It seems the panel degradation like this is caused by heat. The monitor is pretty hot at the back exactly where the stripe is. I guess it will be even worse by time. btw I kept brightness at 20 of 50, HDR off.

Problem is a lot of folks are lazy and don't want to bother helping the monitor avoid burn-in or are removing protections like pixel shift. I have 2016 OLED and only last year (2022) got burn-in because I left my flight pedals connected to the PC which was stopping Windows Screensaver from activating (taskbar got burn-in to the TV).
@xdynamics2561 Жыл бұрын
WOLED is pretty good for preventing burn in but this new QD-OLED technology is worse. DWF got burn in after 4 months of the same image being shown, of course that's gen 1 OLED but gen 2 isn't much different. IMO, those who are doing productivity should stay away from any OLEDS aside from WOLED or dell OLEDS as they provide 3 year burn in warrenties. @@alexandsimba

@@alexandsimbaok I'm new to this OLED stuff. Can you tell me, the burn in happened after the screensaver didn't activate for just a day? Is OLED that fragile?
@alexandsimba Жыл бұрын
@@extremeheat9283 It was more than a day in my case. I only found out because I was watching a youtube video on my phone for over 30 minutes and realized the screensaver was supposed to be running. Windows would see the pedals like someone pushing the joystick on their controller with their thumb. After I disconnected the joystick and pedals the screensaver activated after 30 minutes of going idle.
@PSYCHOV3N0M Жыл бұрын
@@extremeheat9283OLED isn't a huge risk like it was in the old days BUT it's still definitely a risk because the O in OLED means Organic. Organic compounds degrade over time which causes burn-in if you're viewing the same static items on the screen day after day for 8+ hours for the next couple of years. For PC usage, you should hide your task bar, use a screen saver, use a video wallpaper. We're still a few years away before we get QDEL technology from Sharp. Sony will probably be the first one to use Sharp's QDEL panels and release a QDEL TV to replace their QD-OLED TV's. There's a reason why the Nintendo Switch now uses OLED. There's a reason why the Steam Deck now uses OLED. There's a reason why the PSVR2 uses Micro OLED. OLED is currently the best for gaming and quite affordable. Micro LED is still way too expensive for 99% of consumers.

Now I can set 21:9 on my 4K display using custom resolutions no problem. I get the black bars at the top and bottom like movies, but I still get the view area. I got Cyberpunk to work in 21:9 and it looked correct on my 4K display. 32:9 might be the issue, but anywho, excellent review. When I move on from my 48 inch 4K display, I might consider looking at 21:9 again.

@alexandsimba I do have a 32 inch LG ultra gear 165 hz 1440P VA panel in my room as well. My 4K TV looks better, but limits 120 HZ to 1080P, but can do 80 HZ at 1440P. The thing that makes the 48 inch 4K display better. Remote connect to employees with multiple monitor setups. Our connection tools puts all displays onto 1 monitor, and our triple and quad screen employees, the 4K 48 inch clarity and size trumps my 32 inch big time. It's equivalent to looking at 4 22 inch displays as oppose to 16. The 32 inch display is used for high refresh gaming. Future use will be for my custom arcade unit next year.

@@ClaudiuSerban so I haven’t had a chance to do two separate pc’s yet but I am positive it works. Firstly, again, I have watched people do it in review vids already with a separate laptop. Aside from that knowledge tho, I hooked a dp and hdmi cable into the monitor and plugged both into my gpu l. It reads it natively as two separate monitors, meaning the inputs are in fact independent. You then can go into the monitors settings and turn on picture by picture and select how you want to divide the monitors space to display both inputs. After playing with it I’m pretty sure it will support 3 inputs for use as 3 separate monitors on the single panel.

I find 90 a good value in CP2077 on 32:9 you may prefer 80-85. And the newer monitor is 57" not 55" but i'm sure that was just a mistake of course. Thanks for the video.

I have this monitor also and didn't found a problem using 2 sources like desktop pc and a laptop at the same time with the build in multi-view option of the monitor, same tech you use to have for instance the youtube app open next to your pc. And yes black bars are there if you watch a movie or play certain games that don't support 32:9, though what I find more annoying is the case of cyberpunk where it doesn't show black bars in fullscreen but stretches the image. EDIT: oh and there is also a quick option in the game mode to swap between 32:9 to 16:9 aspect ratios on the fly, which does solve the problems with Cyberpunk stretching. Still hoping that Samsung does an update that also would include 21:9 aspect ratio in that list as I found some games do properly support 21:9 but not 32:9 and with that option we would not lost to much of the real estate of the viewing space.
