I had seen your recent TST integrated taillight assembly and noticed the nice rider and passenger seats. Then found this video thinking it would be a quick change. Boy was I wrong! Talk about not quick and insane tedious with having to buy specialized tools. High quality materials but def glad I watched this video as it convinced me to avoid messing with my seats. I love all your videos. They are super detailed and unbiased and objective. 💪🏽

I sent my 2017 R6 seat out to Luimoto to have this done. I didn't trust myself. The gel and new seat cover made a huge improvement over the stock seat for long distance/long duration riding and it looks awesome!!! I'll have the same thing done to my 2020 S1000RR once I take delivery next year.

Man, I admire the hell out of your determination and ingenuity. But I would never do this in a million years. While the track-focused M Sport seat is really hard, my ass isn't what typically gets super sore first. It's usually the knees and then the back, core/adductors, etc. depending upon what type of riding I do. BTW, the best solution I've found to making body position less physically taxing is stickum spray for the knees to better grip the tank with far less squeeze. The best spray is made for English-style horse riding where the rider also grips the saddle with the knees. Then, if I wanted a softer seat - might be a nice option - I would get an additional one to swap with my standard M seat, but still have the M seat for track days and super hard sport riding where I want to sit down/in the bike. BMW itself has a high-seat variation of their M seat that gets its height via additional padding. It would also help on the knees by slightly reducing the knee-bend angle. This wouldn't cost more than what would be spent with your approach, but with infinitely less time/effort and you would have the original seat too, which has its uses. I also expect more third-party alternatives to emerge as more new-generation RRs are sold.

Hopefully they've sorted this out in the meantime. I ordered about five days ago. thanks

I get what you mean man, but they are staying true to the m sport stripe design where it is blue first and then red. Also it matches the lower fairing and front fairing and gas tank angles at least. If you are really concerned you could get their other model.. I think its called the technik. That one flows with the side panels.

What's the verdict? Does it feel better? Worth it? I am thinking about doing this mod as well. The stock seat on the 765 RS isn't too bad but the vibrations just kill me after awhile. Did it kill any road vibrations for you? Does the alcantara hold up well? Lastly, if you had a larger gel piece, would you recommend cutting it in a way so it would extend towards the gas tank as well?
@losangelesupholstery67734 жыл бұрын
Feels better, worth it. Subsides the vibrations. Alcantara holds up well. You can only install gel on the flat parts of the seat, but as much as possible.

Regarding air pressure and staples going through the seat cover. Could you get a thin, narrow piece of metal or plastic and put under the middle of the staple so it stops flat side before shooting through the material? you can finish driving the staple in afterward if you want, or if the metal is thin enough it might not matter

Looking at the Luimoto prices and at the extra cost for tools + all the time to fix the seats, one can as well buy a ready made custom seat from Corbin.
