I watched maybe 10 videos and this the one that made me subscribe. Y’all actually broke it down instead of “eat more”. I’m 24 5’11 weigh 135 with 2 years on and off (88% consistent) in the gym. Gaining muscle isn’t the problem it’s the diet especially with every other vid saying “eat more” but eat what, from where, how often you know? After so many hardgainer videos and “KZbin” trainers’ diet videos THIS one… hit every single struggle I’ve faced in these 2 years. Thank you so damn much…. I’ll be back to this comment at 160+ when I turn 25 in December hopefully I can finally look my damn age.

I work overnight, and when I’m off I will sleep late. I usually only have a 12-13 hour window where I’m awake. I’ll start with protein coffee (bang or kitu maybe) with some protein powder right when I get up, then go for a nice long walk. A couple hours later I have my real breakfast (oatmeal/fruit/yogurt/eggs etc.) then have my dinner meal (lean meat/fish and lots of vegetables) around 9 in the morning, then finally my last meal will be a bowl of cereal, milk, and a protein bar, or protein cereal. This works out well, I usually end up with 4 solid feedings of at least 30g protein (my daily total is always up around 180), two solid meals of healthy, nutrient dense foods, one before-bed meal that’s enjoyable and tasty (although I still stick to healthier cereals like Cheerios, shredded wheat) and also sometimes use fairlife ultra filtered milk. If I happen to be low on protein, no problem, I can mix a scoop of powder in (like Sal says in the video)

@@megavegan5791 look, I'm a vegetarian so I'm partial to plant-based meals, but come on vegans need to stop with their proselytism. The issue is getting enough calories here, which you want to do on a so-called "bulk" phase. The issue is that some people don't have enough appetite to do so, and the point is precisely to go for more calorie-density in the feedings. Maybe calorically your recipe could fit the bill, but the volume is off the charts, and digestion questionable for many. So precisely what you want to avoid with "hard gainers", who usually are "hard gainers" precisely because they don't eat enough - even if they subjectively think they eat a lot - not because they have some gene mutation or whatever that would prevent them from packing on the weight. Agree to disagree… I have 3 main meals and use snacks and whey protein to hit my target goals. If I need more protein then I throw in a shake. More carbs or fat? Then an appropriate snack to hit that number… and an Apple is no where near 150-200 cals 😂
@richardmiddleton77703 жыл бұрын
Maybe hard gainers are just a bit insulin resistant so snacking would only make things worse? 3 meals should be plenty with lots of nutrient dense whole foods. You can also train TOO hard and too long or too often which will also ruin any potential gains.

@megavegan57913 жыл бұрын
@@kobygrimes1234 Thank you for proving my point. It’s 80/20 by weight, not on a caloric basis. By calorie, 80/20 ground beef is well over 50% fat. Heck, even 93/7 ground beef is over 40% fat. It’s all about those macros here, right?
@anthonymarconi7613 жыл бұрын
@@megavegan5791 that's the whole point. It's 20% fat in weight, hence calorically dense. Which is what you need with "hard gainers" i.e. people who don't have enough appetite for the calories they need on a mass gaining phase, even when they are under the impression they eat a lot. Besides your math is off. If you had 100g of 80/20 beef, 20g of fat is 180 kcal. 80g of protein is 320 kcal. Total is thus 500 kcal, 180 being 36%, so just a little more than a third. I don't think I need to do the math for your 93/7 example...and besides, what's wrong with insulin? Are you an "insulin is the devil" zealot too? Insulin is an ally in a muscle building phase...
