Lonesome Dove, Monte Walsh(2003), The Big Country, Jeremiah Johnson, Last Stand at Saber River are all really good soundtracks.

I've always thought that if Tom S. had been born about 15 years earlier (1930), he could have made his name in TV Westerns, not as Thomas S. Magnum.

I've read in a couple of different places that snipers call killing two men with one bullet "a Quigley" after a feat that character pulls off in his movie. Dunno if it's true, but it's certainly fun to talk about.

As a expert rifleman and a developer of some accurate and beautiful rifles, Quiqley os extremely highly rated and a Great Soundtrack. Such a shot is indeed very possible. And not just his very large Shiloh Rifle Company, Montana Sharps rifle could do it. In fact a number of long distance rifles could do it depending on the bullet that was put in the cartridge. I by the way am not into sniping. I regard MY rifles as my wildlife protectors!

Quigley Down Under is one of my favorite Western movies - Tom Selleck and Laura Gioncomo make the perfect couple and play off each other well. I love how he kills off everyone at the ranch including the owner who was an Ass to begin with thinking that he was better with a handgun than Quigley just because Quigley preferred the long Sharps rifle to the handgun. He said, "I didn't say I couldn't use a handgun. I said I preferred to use the Sharp's rifle to the handgun," and I know he was thinking, "You Ass!"

I've often thought that if Tom S. had been born about 20 years earlier, he'd have probably made his name in Westerns, not as an aloha-shirted PI!

He was in the WW 2 movie, Midway, & has been in a number of westerns, like Quigley Down Under.

Tom Selleck was in the movie "Midway," the story of the WW2 battle where the Japanese tried to take over the island of Midway from the U.S. forces dug in there, and failed.

These are some OK songs, but you're either very young - I am not - or you've just not seen many Westerns. I haven't seen every one ever made, but it's close. Listen to some of the other compilations and I'm sure you'll find a long and better list of great Western movie music.

The spaghetti western trilogy were some of the best, but by far the best was Once Upon A Time In the West. All of these have one thing in common Eneo Marconni compsed all of them. The entire score of Once Upon is amazing, not just the theme. Ridiculous that it was even mentioned on this list.

Why are giving a gong to The William Tell Overture (AKA The Lone Ranger Theme)? You need to explore a few older westerns, like The Big Country, The Magnificent Seven, How The West Was Won and a few dozen others that actually have original themes. Edit: I see you have a part 2 that includes the Magnificent Seven. Very good. Keep exploring western themes; you may eventually wean yourself off the spaghetti kind.
@ollilehtonen27626 жыл бұрын
Very good point! Though I think list is quite versatile including some lesser known themes like Two Mules of Sister Sara. Magnificent Seven and others are iconic themes but they are over presented in playlists and records. I must admit that Lone Ranger has a long running time which would have been used including some other classics. It is a great adaptations. All and all a nice list of personal favorites.

You are not a real cowboy or a rifle expert. You also never served in the military. I conclude that from your comment. Why? I know a lot of those people, having been one myself for so many years and having followed western movies for about 70 years. However I am NOT really certain what movie and directors you are commenting on. I assume it is on Quigley Down Under and the theme song! It is a great movie and the theme song is great!
