@@MakeTestBattle Hopefully, A Select-Fire kit comes out. And Store Bought Nerf Blasters aren't too different for us. Australia and Philippines are both treated with the cursed Grey Trigger. But here, we don't have Stryfes, Hammershots or any good Nerf Blaster.

I imagine Hasbro's resistance to releasing dartsoft-spec blasters is the potential liability. They're a brand specifically marketed to children and even if they slap warnings all along the box it's inevitable that they'll be blamed when a child invariably injures themselves. I imagine one way around it is for them to create a subsidiary, but then comes the question of whether it's economically viable for them to do so when the market for dartsoft, whilst growing, is still much much smaller.

Great vid. That's the third time I've heard 'Dartsoft' in as many days. I certainly think anything is better than 'Nerf battle' but I already see divisions popping up in commnets about the merits of 'Dartsoft' vs Dart tag or Blaster tag or some other name that appeals to what sometimes seems like people who just want to disagree for the sake of being heard. Kinda like your reflection on the various 'types' of airsoft/paintball having animosity for each other.

Here in the UK team corvus who run the games at battle of brit nerf and the Kyln have a larpy theme to most of their games. The first Kyln game was judge dredd themed (the latest movie with the slow mo drug in the town), the second I believe was die hard themed and the last battle of brit nerf was mad max themed. All super fun having a story wieved through all the games rather than just random games being played.

You could argue that all our games in the Wasteland are Mad Max themed :P. We have had some longer story and objective driven games that are great fun but demanding on those planning and running them. I can see the appeal of introducing story and larp to some games, particularly weekend events. Sometimes you just want a quick TDM round or two though.

Woah, wasn't expecting that! I've never really been into flywheels before, but damn the Motostryke is lookin' COOL! Holding out for MEGA mags for sure. I love this channel, a lot of good perspective in this video. With companies like JET and Worker flooding the market with hobby-grade parts, it was only a matter of time until bigger companies took an interest in super-stock dart blasters. Can't wait to see what happens in the next couple years.

Apologies in advance for the wall of text, great video and some interesting discussion. I've been using the term Dartsoft for a few months now and already found that it's much easier to attract interest, particularly from adults who connote Nerf with underpowered toys. I've discussed this multiple times during sweeps at Wasteland. I have seen no evidence in quantity of decaps or the state of remaining foam to suggest Gen3 glue quality has degraded since they came out. Liam has always left piles of decaps behind and gen3's have always had a small percentage of badly glued darts but nothing compared to Gen2s. I think it's a case of certain blasters pushing the envelope of what hollow foam can handle considering some are splitting in half lengthways and tearing the foam around the head. The only way I'd switch from Gen3 to Bamboo is if they were a comparable price which seems unlikely unless DZ ramps up production massively.

I agree with you the Nerf Mega Motostryke is the biggest news out of Toy Fair 2020 with the Halo MA40 and Fortnite GL being a close second. I have seen several items saying the Motostryke is compatible with the Centurion magazines and by association the 12 round Buzz Bee Tyrant magazines.

Foam has always sounded uncool. None of the LARP groups call themselves Foam Sword Battles. Tag is too close an association to Laser Tag, which we aren't. It's not digital and it doesn't get messy with paint everywhere. We are closer to airsoft than any another skirmish sport. I've always seen the game as just another skirmish sport just by a different caliber, regardless of the fps cap. Also Dart Tag is a resister trademark of a failed brand line, so it has similar problems as "Nerf". Just to be clear I'm NOT saying the community should change be more like airsoft, I think we should we should be our own thing and accentuate what makes us different. Like rational ammo capacities and roleplay. A heavy integration with the Maker ethos and modding isn't encourage, it is the norm. But the community has naturally shifted away from what the public associates with the term Nerf.

I play Milsim Airsoft at the MSW level meaning 60 hour self sustained gameplay, I play speedsoft too, I’ve played speedball and woods ball for 5 years, and I’ve played nerf all my life, modding and all that. I love all of them, and the majority of all the hate between groups that people talk about is online. In person pretty much everyone is super chill. This new dartsoft term is interesting

I don't personally like Dart soft. We already have super stock and Ultra Stock and NIC, but I understand it. I guess I join in on the bandwagon, reluctant as I may be. This video was great though, I think these next 2 years are going to be defining years for the hobby and I'm very excited for it.

Superstock, Ultrastock and NIC are meaningless to people outside the community. IMO dartsoft is useful for attracting more interest to the hobby.
