In this episode I return to Southern Utah and finally spend a few days hiking, driving and exploring to bring you the best of Arches National Park. Its a park I have been to many times before but on previous visits friends or family kept me from straying far from the car. Now I get a chance to hike to arches, through slot canyons like Fiery Furnace and deeper into the desert to see Petroglyphs and much more on a 10 day journey to several National Parks and dozens of miles into the dirt.

Have you been to any of Utah's National Parks? I have visited all 5!

Hello Alice, I enjoyed your King's Peak video! Yes, I've been to all the Utah NPs many many times, and also the Escalante region and Dinosaur NM, which should be NPs. My two favorites are Canyonlands, especially the Needles section, and Capitol Reef. Zion is up there too, but it's always soooo crowded. Looking forward to the Arches video. Arches is absolutely amazing, but the other parks are so incredible I'd actually rank Arches in 5th place of Utah NPs. (It's also really crowded unfortunately.)

Hi alice. Yep. All 5 here too. Bryce and Zion in 2019, Arches, Capitol Reef and Canyonlands in 2022. All quite different, so hard to choose one favorite. Must say that Capitol Reef surprised me the most: particularly the dark sky: saw the milky way for the first time in my life. Absolutely not visible here in the Netherlands.

I was up at Delicate Arch one night expecting to see the Milky Way to photograph. Instead we got a strong thunderstorm so me and a few other photographers ended up hiking back in open ground with the threat of lighting over us. Fun times. I go to Moab a few times a year.

That was fantastic. Thank you so much it was so well done Would you consider a video on the equipment you're carrying on your backpack? Mostly interested in that little orange or red thing, which is probably a GPS but, I've never seen one that small. Since the Rangers are so busy and the tours are limited, would you consider providing paid guided tours in small groups. I can see myself getting lost very quickly and then what would I do? Thanks
@AliceFordAdventures
@AliceFordAdventures 8 ай бұрын
Thank you Mike, that is a little GPs device, I have a video on my backpacking gear from earlier this year but will maybe do another one for my daypack. Leading tours in National parks requires a lot of permitting and winning a lottery to be a guide I believe so it’s a bit difficult. But with a group this hike is a bit easier to follow the route. More eyes to see the arrows 🤣

I’d likely get lost on that last hike, too. Tiny arrows and too many other sights to distract me. Big arrows would definitely ruin the aesthetic though. That shot at 8:46 through the Double O arch. Wow. The view through the large O is a perfect desert view, IMO. I’d like to see that out a window of my house. But, then a view of a forest and some snow capped mountains in the distance out another window. It’s a very disorienting house. Great video, Alice. Thank you

I thought it was illegal to film and monetize videos in National Parks? Has that changed? Also, great video.
@AliceFordAdventures
@AliceFordAdventures 8 ай бұрын
Not illegal, this is a rule rollback that is somewhat complicated and I’ve spoken to NPS at length on this they are really trying to crack down on actual film productions where groups are displacing or interrupting the visits of other guests and to also make sure people are not disrespecting wildlife or natural sites within the National Parks. According to NPS they will not and are not going after social media creators especially individuals that are abiding by park rules. I’ve also taken the park safe pledge which was made in partnership with NPs and the Parks Project specifically for content creators.
