Honestly as an aspiring teacher I wholly agree. The old way is vastly difficult to maintain any form of motivation to learn history let alone ANYTHING. The system needs to change... also the curriculum... I mean they forced Shakespeare down our fucking throats despite the fact that the stories are seldom relatable to current times and have to be damn near translated for the point to come across. Also, a random pet peeve... those 1 ton backpacks stuffed with textbooks need to go. Give the kid a fucking affordable school kindle or some shit... you can literally fit countless text books on that thing rather than put the kids at risk of breaking their back carrying a fucking ton of cardboard and paper on their backs. Hell I twisted my fucking ankle when I was 15! Also, the budget helps bread dumbasses for our future generations.
