You need to give a mention to Ruud Gullit too. He attracted all these wonderful players to kick start the Chelsea revolution put in motion by Glen Hoddle. I started going in the 75-76 season when I was 11 and the team that made you start supporting Chelsea was the first Chelsea team I can say really made me dream of what could be. Still in shock, first Butch and now Gianluca. Two Chelsea legends that should still be with us. RIP Gianluca

I remember when Chelsea was in the European competition we were playing in the snow. it was live on Channel 5 in the UK. Vialli was throwing snowballs at the players . for me he was a true gentleman always smiling and the damn good forward. I'm a Juventus fan and when I was 7 years old he was the reason I felt in love for the beautiful game, and to see him lift the Champions league trophy in Rome was incredible, probably one of the sweetest memories from my childhood. Juventus fan here. What a player Vialli was, he could score in all manners a striker should - left foot, right foot, headers, first-time shots, shots after dribbles in close ranks, long range blasts, volleys, everything. He was very talented but also very mobile, his constant running could wear out a full defence. Always liked his celebrations, he exploded with joy when it actually made sense, otherwise he was just happy to have done his job. Nothing like the shows players put up today. He was sure of himself but not arrogant, actually he often came out as - if not humble - capable of listening. He was quite combative but also clean and loved fair play and especially playing for the team. And he was a clever nice bloke off the pitch too, never heard him say anything stupid. A great guy, a true image of the football that was, the romanticized but also truly more romantic game of the 1980s and 1990s, both for us Italians and I guess for you guys in England. So sorry he has left us

As a Liverpool fan, I loved watching Vialli and Mancini play for Sampdoria on Football Italia on CH4. They, along with Guiseppe Signori, and Zola at Parma, were a revelation, and showed British fans what was possible on a football pitch. Vialli was brilliant at Chelsea, both as player and manager. But forget about Vialli the footballer, I just want to remember him for the lovely man he was, a man with a beaming smile, a fabulous sense of humour, a man who radiated happiness and love wherever he went. It hurts to know that he's left us, and at such a young age. Only a week after Pele passed, I hope the pair of them are having a majestic kick about upstairs.
