Well, I'd say that's true for both parties. I don't think George Carlin, Louis CK or Eddie Murphy ever thought about political correctness and whatnot and they're all American. There are comedians who choose the more classical side of comedy, while others choose a more daring one. For example, I will never figure out why people love that Aziz guy - I think his humor is for children. But, many people like him so...I'm not the comedy authority! Everyone's different!

I grew up on British humour, which is dominated by sarcasm, so this to me is brilliant stuff. It's not contrived. Now look at the state of US sitcoms today. The most popular sitcom can't hold a candle to Are You Being Served? or Keeping Up Appearances or On the Buses. Not even close. UK TV is still the best in the world.

Humour is very different in america. Me being a fellow brit i find his humour funny but loads of Americans (not all) take it too seriously. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler piss me right off, their jokes are rehearsed like people in the comments have said quote "Like they have been read off cue cards."...and it's true. I'm not stereotyping, some brits don't like him and some Americans do. Humour is different to everyone. This is just my opinion.

+Tia Hall Mate, American here. We always brag about freedom of speech but the truth is the media and people shut you out or chastise you from really speaking the truth. Gervais' humor was absolutely brutal, but some of the best comedy bits I've seen in years. There will be several different golden globe hosts, but every man and woman who attended/watched that one will remember it. It was great, and there was a reason so many American comedians lauded it as fantastic.

The show wanted dull, boring, cause-no-problems-at-all-cost and they certainly got it with Neil Patrick Harris. The reviews and the audience numbers on the following day were horrendous. I guess the network got what they wished for.

Thank you for making a quality compilation. I've often enjoyed watching clips of Ricky Gervais at the Golden Globes. Now i can just watch alll the good moments queued up together. Nice editing too.

Like Ricky said, his jokes were not for the audience, whose entire careers depend on them being accepted and "liked" by the public, it was for the viewers at home. He did an amazing job.
