I didn't believe this at first, but after looking at all of the research, olive oil is actually the healthiest oil to cook with.
Most people are very skeptical about this because they have heard over and over again that avocado oil, coconut oil, animal fat, and butter have the highest smoke points which make them the best oils to cook with.
However, olive oil contains something called Oleic Acid (a powerful antioxidant), which prevents the oil from oxidizing.
So, just because certain oils have a higher smoke point, doesn't mean they are healthier to cook with.
Now, I'm not saying that you should cook with olive oil at very high heats, but when it comes to cooking most things at a medium heat, olive oil has proven itself to be the healthiest option.
What's your favorite oil to cook with?
Enjoy!

NEW HERE?
Hi, I’m Stephen Cabral, Board Certified Doctor of Naturopathy and Integrative Health Practitioner.
For years I struggled with trying to figure out how to overcome multiple life-alternating illnesses such as auto-immune, Addisons, type 2 diabetes, digestive, allergies, insomnia, and debilitating fatigue.
Then I discovered a mentor who taught me how to combine and integrate multiple health practices into one. From there I tested these theories by traveling all around the world and discovering how to finally help people rebalance their bodies and live the life they always wanted.
I’m happy to say that after being shown the way and now creating my own proven protocols based on combining the best of ancient Ayurvedic wisdom with state-of-the-art Functional Medicine my team and I have completed over 250,000 appointments helping people just like you and I.
If you’re interested in getting well, losing weight, or living longer stronger, I look forward to helping you to accomplish those goals. Be well and please always reach out if you have any questions or if my team and I can be of service!

It is well known that cooking with olive oil must be done at medium low temp, meaning, no smoke should be made. And just don't use the oil several times.

You're right.... because big pharma pays you tube to "hide" videos that tell the truth...the best way to silence the truth is to tweak the algorithm to hide the good info. Check videos of Dr Eric Berg ...they suddenly began to disappear. Now you have to just search harder. Best cooking medium is beef tallow, lard, butter Medium chain triglycerides oils. Avoid seed oils and palm oil. Olive oil is good too but most on the shelf is fake olive oil.

Actually EVOO contains higher levels of antioxidants not only oleic acid but also polyphainols, so it is more difficult to oxidize. Thus, it is even better to cook with. 😊 We in Greece, know this for centuries. The only reason people like to use EVOO raw, is because all the aromas, the fruitiness, remain intact when it's not cooked. And of course the antioxidants, all go into your system instead of being used to prevent oxidation during cooking. But, it still remains the best fat choice, when you decide to cook. ❤

Actually, EVOO still performs better than other oils beyond it's smoke point. You can use EVOO for literally anything, even frying a steak. Yes it will be smoky, but it won't be higher in toxins or volatile aldehydes. Despite high heat, EVOO still retains most of its nutritional value.

Since olive oil and avocado oil are both a monounsaturated fats, and olive oil has more antioxidants than avocado oil which helps with cooking at higher temps, I would recomend sticking with olive oil.

This guy doesn't know what he's talking about, oleic acid is a monounsaturated fatty acid just like linoleic acid is a polyunsaturated one. Antioxidants are more abundant in extra virgin olive oil than refined olive oil and they include polyphenols and vitamin E.

Try these 4 oils instead for healthier options: 1. Avocado Oil (high smoke point - good for hi temp cooking) 2. EV Olive Oil (Medium Smoke point - Good for slower mid temp cooking) 3. EV Coconut Oil or V Coconut Oil - Good to use every now and then. Just make sure you don’t get the refined coconut oil, that’s bad. EV Coconut oil or V Coconut oil isn’t bad, it’s just not better than 1 and 2 on this list, and doesn’t have as much nutritional value as 1 and 2 on the list, but there’s nothing really bad in it either. It’s also go for other multipurpose stuff. 4. Grass fed Ghee - The ultimate healthy butter replacement. Good for baking cookies, cooking pancakes, ect. I recommend the 4th heart brand. It has a good toasty, nutty flavor to it. TIP: If you get non-sticking spray, most of them have chemical propellant if you look on the back of the label. Not good for your health. Try to use a non stick spray that doesn’t have a chemical propellant in there, just look on the back. Tip 2: Pans - Most people get a non stick pan, which I recommend, but here’s the common pickings and details you NEED to stay healthy: -Ceramic non stick pans -PTFE Teflon non stick pans -Cast Iron pans -Enameled Cast Iron pans -Cast Iron Dutch oven (pot) -Enameled Dutch oven (pot) -Black Carbon Steel Pan -Solid Stainless Steel Pan -AVOID REALLY CHEAP PANS 1. The PTFE Teflon non stick pan has high durability, high performance, the nonstick coating lasts longer, good for retaining heat, and you want to get one with a solid-thick aluminum core. The problem is that if you scratch this pan up with a metal utensils, it will leak chemicals into your food, so make sure you use silicone or wooden utensils when cooking in this pan. If you have a minor scratch, you’ll be fine, but if a lot, that’s not good. The other problem is if you cook with it at extreme heat - close to 500 degrees, it will also release to much toxins in your food. Don’t go over 400 degrees with this pan. (Not recommended, unless you never over cook with it and use silicone or wooden utensils and don’t damage the pan) 2. Ceramic pans have 0 toxic chemicals, so even if you scratch it, or cook it with high heat, it won’t effect your food. The problem is that it’s more prone to surface cracks, which means the non stick won’t work as well. You want a ceramic pan with a solid-thick aluminum core. The other problem is that it’s not as durable as the PTFE Teflon Non Stick. The other problem is that the ceramic gets REALLY hot. Use for low heat cooking like eggs. Use silicone or wooden utensils to avoid damaging the pan because of the durability. 3. Cast Iron pans are AMAZING. Good for conducting heat, distributing heat and seasoning…good for pretty much everything EXCEPT for foods more prone to sticking like eggs, salon fillets, fish, ect. And don’t cook anything acidic in there, like tomatoes. Don’t wash with soap. 4. Enameled Cast Iron pans are basically a non stick cast iron. So you get all the benefits of cast iron, and you can cook foods that are prone to sticking, and even cook acidic foods like tomatoes. 5. The Cast Iron Dutch Oven Pot is pretty much just a pot version of the cast iron pan. Same rules apply. 6. The Enameled Dutch Oven pot is pretty much easier a pot version of enameled cast iron pan. Super easy to clean, and cooks VERY well. Lifetime Pan, will last forever. 7. Black Carbon Steel Pan is a very SPECIAL one. It naturally becomes non stick as you cook with it, more slick than the PTFE Teflon, and Sear’s steaks better than cast irons. The problem that this pan has a VERY HIGH MAINTENANCE just so first time clean and season. Also Very heavy. 8. Solid Stainless Steel Pans. Good aluminum core. Do not cook eggs, or foods prone to sticking. *You can find most/all of these at Costco or Amazon*

That is an interesting theory! Cooking food has been a fundamental aspect of human dietary practices for thousands of years, with evidence dating back to early human history. It provided numerous advantages including making food more palatable, enhancing nutrient availability, and ensuring food safety by killing harmful pathogens. While some nutrients may be lost during cooking, other nutrients become more bioavailable, and anti-nutrients can be deactivated. Culinary traditions around the world incorporate cooking methods like baking, steaming, and frying, which contribute to cultural identity and social bonding. Overall, cooking food has played a crucial role in human evolution, nutrition, and culinary heritage.
