Watching this on a 65" LG G4 and I agree with all the praise this TV gets in this video. It is definitely bright enough for the living room without needing blackout curtains. I also have 42" LG C4 as a computer monitor, it's great but does not get as bright as the G4.

I got the Hisense U8N about a few weeks ago and it does all you said in the best value TV segment at 65" and I got it for only $899 plus tax which came close to 1k. This is the best sound on a TV I've heard too but I still use my sound bar system. The TV has it's quirks can't really use VRR even though it supports it due to weird flickering on parts of the screen when in use which isn't a deal breaker for me especially with all the other features, but it does have freesync premium pro and is the best and brightest TV I've owned. The TV has 1600 dimming zones I know the TCL has quite a bit more and it was near the same price but all the research I did was pointing at the Hisense having better contrast which I prefer. Honestly at this price These two are hard to beat I upgraded from the Hisense U6K 55" last years model which was already a Massive upgrade from my 2016 LG edge lit TV which is till running strong surprisingly.

The 65" G4 works really well in my living room even in the day time. It's teamed up with an Apple TV streamer and a Panasonic 4k Bluray player so I rarely touch the dumb remote they give you. Come night time I often pop in a 4k Bluray to watch so DTS passthrough was a must for me. If you are buying a high end TV you want to be able to drive it was discs fairly regularly. Picked it up at a deep discount. Good value.

The one thing that is really annoying me with the Panasonic Z95A is the Fire OS which is an exercise in frustration.

Is an external source/ streaming device maybe an option??
@terrym5405 күн бұрын
@@ginarae5739 Unfortunately no. For example attempting to connect an external soundbar via the eArc HDMI. On my previous Samsung TV in the Tizen OS under the 'Sound' setting one had the options TV Speakers and Soundbar. Opting for the latter, the TV identified both the brand, and the model, listed it, and automatically enabled control of the soundbar. With the Panasonic's Fire OS's settings one has to access 'Equipment Control ' press 'Soundbar' then scroll down an alphabetical listing of Brands, access the relevant one, play a short piece of music press the on/ off button on the remote to stop the music, wait 10 seconds, press the on/off button which should update the remote control to operate the soundbar. The problem is it doesn't work.

@@ginarae5739 My earlier, extensive, reply appears to have been deleted. One example of frustration with the Fire OS: trying to connect a soundbar via the TV's HDMI eArc socket is convoluted, and ultimately fails to work.

What's really weird is the complete lack of dimming zone counts available on any full-array (/back/side/whatwever) sets that are obviously not OLED ... specifically on the smaller 47" and 42" TVs. Recommendations like these are bloody amazing, but for some use cases a non-OLED is a requirement at these sizes, but there's still a need for at least SOME HDR fidelity (not none or 16 zones 😏) ... and it is almost impossible to spec hunt what one needs.
@Gago_945 күн бұрын
I wish there was rating done by category and size too (I know it sounds like asking too much but it would definitely be more accurate sometimes). I'm saying this mainly because of massive differences in for example Mini-LED TVs especially when it comes to TCL brand. TCL 65" C855 and 75" C855 are two different worlds when it comes to specs. 65" is great but just like in this video it's only represented as good value and nothing much more, while the 75" model could easily be in the top of its class, fighting easily with other Mini-LED models from Sony, Samsung etc. Main difference between two is staggering difference in the amount of "local dimming zones" where 65" has around 1340 while 75" model has 2160 zones. Beside that sound quality is significantly improved on 75" model. So in my thinking C855 65" is great value, but maybe 75" and above from the same C855 lineup could be best in class. Anyway thank you for your great content as always. Ps. I really can't wait to see your review of 75C855. 😅

I think Samsung make some great TVs, but putting together a 'best of' highlights that Samsung doesn't have DTS or Dolby Vision support while most other brands do, which puts the Samsung sets at a disadvantage when looking at multiple use cases. I have to be fair in the assessments and take everything into account. I have fed back to Samsung on numerous occasions that fixing those two box ticks would match their products to others for use cases and probably result in more recommendations and badge wins. I have been using the S95D as my main TV for most of 2024, but it falls short in those areas and video processing compared to others.
