I own the amp and surprised that so many people complain about it. I am more of a 80s metal and classic rock player and though this amp has the most gain of all my amps you can still rein it in for some classic rock tones,. I am a player that uses my guitar volume control and the amp responds very well this way. I have no intention of doing any clip mod some other players are doing. For me I say if you don't like the amp then its the wrong amp and you can easily purchase the EVH all black stealth 6L6 if your after that 6L6 Stealth blue channel. With some medium output pickups the clean channel is very nice and definitely clean enough unless you want the "plugged directly into a counsel" sound If your are real fan of Eddie Van Halen you'll love this amp. It's like a modded Marshall leaning towards Soldano. Modern yet not totally modern sounding. The amp has it's own voice and you either dig it or you don't. I'm not sure this would be my 1 and only as I still favor my Marshalls and a boost pedal but this amp sounds sounds amazing and sparkles and does it all. I also own a Bogner Helios which is a great amp as well but it's also different. Lesson here is to know exactly the sound you want and not to expect to get it with a different amp. Get what you need from the beginning and don't buy something and think that modding it will make the amp sound like something it is not.

One time I was searching for a tube amp for my first amp and I was offered EVH brand. As someone who dislike any signature stuff, I rejected the offer and choose Blackstar HT instead. The latter amp was also cheaper than EVH. So I went back from store feeling happy. After playing the Blackstar stuff, I knew it wasn't the best choice for me. I couldn't dial a good tone from that amp. After that I only used amp sim. Until one day, you announced your partnership with ML Sound Lab and released Amp Roots. 5034 really opened my ear. I didn't know how close 5034 sound compared to the real amp, but I knew that was the one sound that I liked. Then I watched many videos of EVH amp on youtube. Finally I came to a conclusion, I preferred EL34 50watt version of this amp. Suggestion for Fluff and Miko. You two should work together again and make full amp sims of 6L6 and EL34 version of EVH. Miko's modeling engine and Fluff ears are the best combination for making the best sounding EVH amp sim.
