@@PrimeTimeAquatics I wonder if it's a difference in water. Do you have higher pH, and/or hard water? My tank was at about 6.6 and soft (had to add a bit of aragonite to keep KH and GH at 4-5 and pH from getting too low, plus reg water changes), and they were very orange and silver, and the males would sometimes get a reddish tinge on their fins. 🧡🤍🖤

Not sure if you've kept bettas / fish before, so hope you won't be offended by the suggestion that if you haven't already set up the tank, you might want to consider upgrading to a 5 or even 10 gallon. You'll find it much easier to keep the water conditions good in a larger tank, so ironically, maintenance is actually easier in a larger tank. 3 gallon isn't horrible, but you'll need to make sure you really understand the "nitrogen cycle" (there are some great videos about this on YT) and how to maintain the tank to keep your betta in good health and alive for their whole potential lifespan. If you already know all this, and are already well prepared for how to take care of a tank this size, hopefully this reply will help someone else. Best of luck with your new tank! 💜💜💜

@@pjp9383 thanks for the info. Never had Betta s before. I have empty 10 was going to put community fish in it. I think you can have a male betta with like Molly's or tetra's? My 20g doing awesome
@pjp93833 жыл бұрын
@@sergeiz.5815 Some bettas do fine in a community tank, and others don't. Both mollies and tetras (only certain types tho!) show up on lists of possible tank mates for bettas. There are two ways this can go wrong though ... your betta could be super aggressive and it could be a bloodbath (or at least a lot of chasing). Or, your betta could be more docile and either the mollies or tetras could stress the betta out. Both species can be very active, and male mollies can jockey for dominance, and tetras can also be fin nippers, especially if you don't have a large enough school of them. To be honest, I probably wouldn't try either in a 10 gallon with a betta, personally. I'm a bit of a wimp and would beat myself up if anything went wrong and fish died as a result. In a 20 gallon I might try it, but instead I just keep my bettas in well divided 10 gallon tanks, so they each have 5 gallon. But, the nice thing is that if you want to give it a go, you have the 3 gallon tank at hand, so you do have a back-up plan if things look dicey with your betta and his or her tank mates! I would suggest that you do some more detailed research - YT videos and fish forums and care guides - for "betta and black neon tetras" or "betta and ember tetras" etc, and see how to set up best for success. Like, not choosing mollies the same colour as your betta, or how to set up the tank with hiding spots, etc. Good luck! It's so exciting to plan out a new tank!

Long-finned rosey barbs have that in between redish-orange look. We have Golddust Lyretail Mollies (what lfs calls them but not sure if that's correct). They are yellowish-orange speckled with black and have "mascara" outlined eyes. These are very pretty fish in normal circumstances that become super neon orange that glows during the timed light's sunset period. It's like having Glow fish at least once a day in a fully planted tank. It did make me consider whether a fully programmable light would be an option for kids and adults who want the glow fish look. We use Finnex planted 24/7 that allow you to control the colors, brightness plus is timed so it slowly transitions through each setting. This could happen at an extended sunrise and sunset (you can actually make it neon pink like I accidentally did) yet the tank be of a reasonable size plus planted and thus is healthier for the fish than the actual glow tanks. Side note. Supposed to be all boys but a girl was accidentally slipped in the mix so babies are in our future. Forgot our male Betta, Gorgeous George. He's a half moon paradise male that has a navy blue body with orange sherbert colored fins that are outlined in blue. He's a very striking fish.

male silver tip tetras are super orange, and once in a while, one or two at a time could turn almost yellow for a short time! i'm not sure if it's breeding coloration or perhaps they picked up a star power up. they're always active and fun to watch! due to their activity, i've been hesitant to get anything else for that level of the water column, but chances are i'm just overly cautious and they'd be great for a community!
