I love greens with golden oak wood. It gives me a magical forest feeling. My mum has what she calls a spring green all through her living areas and kitchen. It looks stunning against golden oak beams and flooring. I think it's a shame golden oak is so hated nowadays. I think It's a warm friendly wood colour. This video confirms I'm definitely going for the green 😊 Thankyou

This video helped me immensely! I have honey oak cabinets and travertine backsplash! My kitchen, dining, and living room is all one open space, all wood antique furniture! You rock! Thank you for this video. It was very helpful! I have a speckled sage countertop. One day, that will go. After seeing this, I am leaning towards Benjamin Moore Collingwood. What are your thoughts on that color and my sage countertop? There are specks of dark green and light green in it as well. I would say my honey oak has more orange in it. I have a backsplash with white tile (square) and a rectangular metallic design going across the middle. I tried to share a pic but it wouldn't let me. Thank you for any tips you have for me. This has been a job I have wanted to do for years and now I feel ready!

You're welcome! It's SO hard to say without seeing the countertop! I mean, I do know that purple and green can contrast each other - it can be a pretty combo. On the otherhand, some people might lean into the sage of the counterop (but find a grayed-out version of it), but that would contrast that bit with the oak cabinets - it's tricky! I mean, I haven't seen your countertop to know how they sit in the green world, but maybe along the liens of SW Aloof Gray or Sensible Hue??

For a living room with golden oak cabinets and fireplace mantel (fireplace has a little orange-red brick), do you think SW perfect greige (maybe lightened) on walls and BM White Dove would look nice? The perfect greige may have a purplish undertone? I would also love a video on colors of flooring that would look good with honey oak cabinets. Thank you so much. We just had our red oak floors refinished with a natural sealant so they no longer look orangey from the old oil-based stain. Would love a video on paint colors that look best with the subtle pinkish tones of a natural red oak floor. Thank you!

I have “gunstock” glossy finish wood floors in every room except the three baths and the mudroom. I would love to strip them all and change to matte finish and maybe tone them as well. Too expensive though, as we’re only a couple of years from retirement. Videos like this are so helpful!

Yes, please do colors for the more red honey oak! I have those cabinets with the Baltic brown granite counters your have in your site. Totally mediocre, early 2000's combo with the main wall being south facing with light coming in through the west that I can't afford to change right now. 😫

Would dove white work for just wood trim in an open concept layout? The kitchen has white cabinets and I'm thinking about offsetting the kitchen with a moderate blue green. It's a light oak trim.

Hey! It depends on the white of your cabinets. If they're a brighter, cleaner white, White Dove can look a bit creamy in comparison. If they're a slighlty softer white, it could work - it's a great color! If it's softer than your cabinets, look at SW Pure White and BM Chantilly Lace and see if those feel any better :)

I have a craftsman four square that currently has jewl tones. We are looking for something light and airy due to the large front porch causing not a lot of natural light coming in. The wood trim is hemlock and is a darker brown.

Well, it's hard to say without seeing your space and knowing more about its finishes/furnishings, but it SOUNDS like you could use a warm white, maybe along the lines of BM Simply White. Depending on how genuine the jewel tones are, you could also shift a bit softer into something like SW Alabaster or Creamy???

Crazy question… really like the idea of a honey oak color on my kitchen island but the cabinets are dark cherry. I want to paint the cabinets white dove and the walls ballet white. Do you have a color you can think of to “mimic” the oak color. I have been looking at Monroe Bisque, Straw Hat and Dunmore cream. Of those colors which do you think would go best and not be too yellow just add warmth?

Grey...grey...grey...everything now is grey. I hate it. So tired of it. I trusted a partner and we did agreeable grey it it's awful against oak. Makes the wood look yellow and cheap. I made them repaint it. Went darker tone in brown like a mocha or latte. Darker then the trim and makes it rich and warm.
