Great to see that you got over the initial struggles with modded choreo, haha. An excellent showcase for the mod with great flow and great feats without feeling like it’s excessively technical. This mod will go a long way in making complex parkour feel more attainable and doable by the average player without feeling like they need to know all the intricacies of geometry and things of the like.
@animusdrifter5 ай бұрын
I'm so glad you enjoyed it homie, it was pretty challenging getting over those struggles but once you pick the momentum up, it's pretty smooth sailing. What I talked about before is still kind of present, but the way you work around it is founded in how you make your route flow in terms of height gain/loss for most of the features, as there's a bit of a rythm. And indeed, we're finally at a point where the vast majority of what always should have been directly possible finally is. As sad as I am to see the relevance of some old school tech dwindle, it was always an indicator of our idealistic striving to get exactly this, and now we finally have it

Damn, how long did it take to internalize the binds? So much going on. Also, how'd you do the overlay?
@animusdrifter5 ай бұрын
Getting used to the binds took a good bit of time (still getting used to processing everything on the fly), but I was also there while testing through various versions, control and bind changes, additions to functionality, and certain behaviors becoming more polished or fully passive, meaning that there was a lot of constant relearning I had to do through all the various testing phases. While that's a bit of a disadvantage, an advantage to that learning curve was that I was essentially pushed into firstly getting used to and good at fewer features in a given timeframe, because newer ones hadn't been added yet. That way you're gradually introduced to everything as it's getting created, instead of having to self limit through the overwhelm of functionality. It flows pretty smoothly once you have the binds down, which is aided by the fact that Henry, alongside my controller testing, engineered them to follow a certain logic we came up with (especially with functions that simply modify existing moves, aka most of them), so it's not all arbitrary. For example, Parkour Down Near is L1, Forced Freeform is L3, so in order to get a jump/eject/swing that has less thrust, therefore ending up in you acquiring a lower trajectory while still wanting to not prescriptively target anything, you combine the two into Freeform Parkour Down (L1 + L3) For the overlay, I extended my recording resolution in OBS to fit the controller overlay on the side, so I can later key it out (or rather make a manual mask for it because video compression made color based keying absolute hell) and choose whether i'm going to use it or leave it out in any clip.
@sethmorton18565 ай бұрын
@@animusdrifter thank you very much for the response! How do you position your fingers? I've been messing around with it for the past half hour and it seems like it'll be really difficult to learn. Jumping to hanging (and swinging off) seems like a really important combination for fluid motion, but you have to hold RB for that which I can't do with my normal finger positioning. I have my pointer on the trigger, but to jump and hang I have to move my pointer to the bumper and hit the trigger with my middle finger. Do you just leave your fingers in that kind of position for parkour? Oh, and I was curious where you got the overlay from. What program tracks your controller inputs like that? I appreciate the insight into the OBS setup though :)
@animusdrifter5 ай бұрын
@@sethmorton1856 No problem
@sethmorton18565 ай бұрын
@@animusdrifter Oh wow, didn't think people did it like that. I'm used to never needing to press both the trigger and bumper simultaneously, so having my pointer finger work both bumpers and triggers seemed natural to me. Using my middle fingers for the triggers would definitely be more flexible though, and not just for this game. I'll work on that. Been playing some more in the meantime and I'm super impressed with the mod. It seems like y'all erred on the side of "allow it to happen" vs. "don't allow it to happen", which I appreciate. The freeform button may be the most revolutionary part of the mod, so much potential when you just unlock the system from seeking targets pre-emptively. That being said, I was struggling to get vault landings to work, and I think it's because in some places I'm slightly too high above the ground for it to be allowed. If I'm quick enough on the triggers, I can go freeform just after the vault to let myself fall, which looks very natural and is super satisfying! GamePad Viewer works great, thanks!
@henrypdt5 ай бұрын
@@sethmorton1856 Hey there, glad to see you're enjoying the mod, just a few things to note of. Some features that are green-coded are disabled/limited by default (Swing Up, Vault Landing Further, Super Hop, Horse Flip), and so if you want to use it, you will need to follow the steps under Green-coded features below the installation. Also for vault landings, as stated in the key binds and in Things to know, are LT or LB only, that means you would have to use the binds by itself (especially without RT/High Profile). However yes, it also does depend on the range/height of the NSO you are vault landing to These information already exist in the description, I know it's quite a read but I recommend you have a proper read of the entire description (especially the Things to know / how to use section) to have a better idea. It does take some getting used to, but when you do and everything clicks, its quite intuitive and you cant really go back to vanilla.
