I just got this set as I love the magnetic set up which actually makes using a ND filter fun now. My past ND filter just sat unused as it was so hard to screw on and off. Thanks for the review!

I've ordered the 95mm Pro filter kit. (My maximum filter size is 82mm, but future proofing for the RF 200-800mm if I ever decide to use filters on it. Sadly they're out of stock with WEX, so don't know when I'll recieve them. I've not really used the polarizer much but think it's a case of screwing it on all the time which I hate, and down to laziness. Can't wait to recieve them! New subscriber here.

I can vouch for the toughness of these filters. I've only had mine out once and I dropped them - not a scratch, and it was a stony, gravelly surface that they fell on to! Very pleased with these.

Thanks Ian . A short while back you also did a videos about using a polarising filter I have the Fuji XT3 . I am wondering about the Wolverine CPL in this neat looking useful set. When I’ve previously tried a polariser ( Nisi / Hoya) I’ve had real difficulty seeing the polarising effect either in the EVF or rear panel . I’ve often wondered if the camera is somehow compensating for it . Especially since all we can ever see in EVF and rear panel is a jpeg rendition . I capture raw to one card jpeg to the other . The vast majority of the time the camera is set for Provia . I shoot manual or aperture I’ve wondered if the reason I can’t see the difference is something to do with auto white balance so I have tried with that off . I’ve made sure I’m at 90 degrees to sun Things I’ve tried are seeing the impact on the histogram when I turn it , switch to daylight not auto wb . I’ve even resorted to taking 4 images turning the CPL in between shots Have you any tips please That Wolverine Pro system looks far less cumbersome and fiddly than the type of filter system with holder and slide in filter and I am tempted to invest in it Thanks Graham
@ian_worth
@ian_worth 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Graham, you should see a difference in both saturation and reflections when 90 degree to your light. You will also see a reduction in light as you move the poalizer. if you are not seeing any changes make sure your settings are all dialed in manual, as the camera will compensate for exposure otherwise. polarizers are subtle things, try testing it on your phone screen. Turn off your phone, point the camera at your phone, rotate the polarizer and you should see the reflection on the phone screen disappear. If nothing happens move it to another position and try again, if nothing happens after that, then i would suggest trying a different brand. 😃👍👍

Ian, that was really well timed. I was only thinking today if eBaying my Lee kit, and going for these is an option, Do I really need grads these days? I do like getting right in camera in one frame, but why - am I just needlessly holding onto the past for nostalgia and nothing else.... oh what to do? Can’t afford it anyway 😢

Thanks Brian, yeah i am feeling the same. I just don't get a chance to use grads that often, as much as i like them it seems pointless carrying stuff that i use once in a blue moon. I think if i shot seascapes a lot then i would use them a fair bit. 👍👍😊

Hi Ian! Great video :) I am really looking forward to get some of these magnetic filters. I have a canon 7d 1st gen. Just bought a canon efs 10-20mm lens which has 67mm thread. Someone told me to get the 77mm filters with a 67-77mm step up ring to not get vignetting. I also have 2 other lenses with 58mm thread and for that he told me get the 55-77mm step up ring. What do you think about this? Thank you.
@PROgaming-fm6yu
@PROgaming-fm6yu 3 жыл бұрын
step up rings are fine. In fact they can be a better option than using a correct filter size for the lens, especially if you are using an ultra wide lens.
@NJM1948

Excellent video and well explained. I have never used filters before so I wanted to see what you used for your Fuji XT3. You said you use the 77mm set but the Fuji 10-24 is a 72mm thread. When I looked at the Kase 77mm is said it had an adaptor ring included which was 77mm.......so how did you use the 77mm on the XT3? (sorry if this is a dumb question but new to filters and don't want to get the wrong kit!!)
@RWROW
@RWROW Жыл бұрын
Ian Worth did say that he could see the filters in the frame when he stacked them and used them with a 10-24mm zoom lens wide open. Given that he was using a 77mm filter set on a 72mm lens, wouldn't this problem be worse if he'd bought the 72mm filters? This issue is of interest to me as I'm currently considering buying a set of the new Maven filters from Indigogo to use on a micro-four third camera, where my main lens will be 12-100mm f/4 with a 72mm opening. I often shoot it wide open to keep the ISO down and at 12mm. Maven is offering the 77mm set at the same price as the 72mm set, so wondering if I should buy the larger set and an adapter ring. Wish he had answered your question.

Thanks for posting this, so if a person had a 82 mm and a 77 mm filter requirement , what would you purchase. I assume you would buy the larger one, but would they then be able to be attached to the 77mm. I am new to this so would not want to make a mistake in my purchase.
@ian_worth
@ian_worth 3 жыл бұрын
No problem Steve, yes go for the largest size. Kase has a variety of rings that you can attach to your smaller lenses that bring them up to the 82mm filter size. That way you only need one set of filters for all of your lenses 🙏👍👍

Thxs for the nice video. I also shoot with Fuji and I am looking into the Kase Magnetic System. I still am in doubt if I should order the 77mm or the 82mm set. On the one side I have an 150-600 lens (82mm tread) so ordering a 82m set seems the obvious. On the other side 82mm seems so big and 77m is just a bit smaller and I don't know how much I will use the Kase system on my biggest lens. Maybe you have an remarks for me that make my choice an little bit eassier. Regards Han

So if you had the Fuji 10-24 lens and 50-14 mm lens which are both 72 mm thread...whould you order the kit in 72 mm or something bigger like 77 mm and get the step up ring? I think you have the 77 mm Kase Wolverines, but just clarifying why not 72 since that is the thread size?

Hi Julie, You just need to buy a lens adapter for each of your lens threads, so a 55mm to 82mm adapter. You can also look at step up rings if kase do not offer an adapter that suits your lenses . 👍👍😀

I am 100% new to filters. I have never used them before, but I know i need them for many shots unless the light is good. But what i dont understand is why there is no universal holder for these filters. why are there so many different MM sizes? Why are there different sizes for all cameras, when you only need 1 clamp that could fit every lens made in history of camera gear. So confused.

Thats a tough question, all i can say is that the 77mm works perfect for the Fuji system and that's what i'm using. But like you said, if you want to future proof then the 82 might be the way to go.
