So sweet that you guys are asking all these questions and the grandmas keep saying they don’t remember and are so nonchalant about details but when Matt asks about holding Abby for the first time, they know every detail. 😭 that is so precious!

My grandma worked her butt off when she was pregnant. She had 15 children, she milked cows, took care of the house and children, did all of the cooking and baking, washed the laundry by hand and had to haul and heat water… I believe my grandma did much more than most women these days do myself included!

Abby, both of your grandma's are beautiful!! My mom was born in 1944. So my grandma was born in 1923, and I asked her a lot of these same questions. I was curious about pregnancy in the 1940s and it's so crazy how much things have changed. ❤ your videos!!

My grandma said they stopped doing overnight nurseries because parents were going home unprepared to handle the nighttime. Parents now supposedly do better with the help of learning in the hospital.

Your grandma’s are wonderful and I can see how you grew into such an amazing person. I miss my Papa (grandfather) everyday but especially during the holidays but I do try to call my family at least once or twice a week just to see how they are. It is amazing to see how many people can shape you into who you are and it’s a blessing to have family that supports and loves you unconditionally. Keep ignoring the negativity and keep moving forward the way you always have. Merry Christmas from my family to yours 😊🎄

When I began teaching elementary school in the mid 70's the teachers were allowed to paddle students with a witness. My co-worker (another first year teacher, yet 10 years older than me) asked me to witness a paddling. She had a student being punished by standing against the wall just outside the classroom door, then when she went to have a talk with him there was a puddle of liquid on the floor against the wall, so she thought the child had urinated on the wall & floor while in timeout. Weeks later we both realized that the school's flat roof leaked when it rained and realized that the little boy had NOT urinated! We both felt horrible about that paddling!

I love this podcast. It was so sweet to see your grandmas. Give them both hugs and love every chance you get. I just lost my grandma yesterday. We were not as close as you are with your grandmas but it is still hard. Oh and by the way, you have many followers that are older. I am 51 but my boys are your guys' age, so I feel like I can relate to you. It's always interesting to see how the younger generations live their lives compared to the older generations. Keep being your sweet selves.

I had my 1st daughter in '72. I only had a backache. They gave me 3 little pill to relax me 😂. I woke up 3 hrs after she was born. They let me see her but not hold her because I was so loopy. They had to use forceps. I had my 2nd daughter in '75 in a much bigger hospital in Boston. I told them NO meds. I had her in 1 1/2 hours, too late for an epidural. So different. The first one i wasn't myself for a week from the meds. My second one i was up and around within an hour of having her. It was great...

Kennedy's assassination was on a Friday, Nov 22,1963. The burial was on Monday, Nov. 25. My parents did not let us watch much TV, but that weekend and the following days we were glued to the tube watching clips of the assassination, the swearing in of President Johnson, the arrest of Oswald (late Friday night) the Sunday assassination of Oswald by Jack Ruby which happened on live TV & Ruby's arrest. Kennedy's body was lying in state at the White house then the Capitol building Rotunda for 18 hours on Sunday where 250,000 people showed their respect. The funeral on Monday began with a procession from the White House to the cathedral. The family, VP, and other dignitaries walked 0.9 mile down PA Avenue and 17th St to the cathedral behind the horse drawn carriage carrying the casket. It was a very emotional time. Then Thursday was Thanksgiving and that weekend included many special reports and replays of the video documentation of events. At age 11 it was the first time I witnessed History being made on TV.
