Great analysis, love to see where the communities' heads are at. I'd be stoked to see this same sort of breakdown for the specialty sets, maybe with added analysis on what products stand to do the best in regards to investing in collection boxes, etb's or sleeved packs/blisters.

I think every specialty set would be in buy a case. 151, CZ, Paldean Fates except shrouded fable. Shrouded Fable is dogwater. The play for these are sealed booster bundle displays, booster bundles and then ETBs.

I would move Obsidian flames to 'buy a box' over SV base. Imo every single SV set is better than the first 4 SWSH. It has Ninetails, Clefa, Scizor, and Gloom IRs that are slept on and any of these clear early SWSH (and Charizard SIR of course)

Bad take, you’d be better getting 7 boosters of a different set rather than 1 evolving skies the percentage you’d gain would be much higher.

Interesting, can you name one booster box that you could buy 7 of with the same amount of money that has outperformed ES this year? I’m sure you’ll be able to name a lot.

I’d say it’s more likely for surging sparks at £135 to get to £200 in the next couple months than evolving skies to get to £1500, I could use other sets as an example from sword and shield, I just think evolving skies will climb slower as a percentage

My point is even more valid for long term hold. I bought a load at £100-£120 on release. I buy all my sets at the bottom price to reduce risk.

@@Gsclark4 Right so, as stated in the video, my ranking was based on CURRENT pricing. Surging Sparks booster boxes aren't $100 USD anymore and would have been ranked higher if it were. That said, I absolutely disagree with the premise that Surging Sparks at $200 a box is going to outperform Evolving Skies at $925 over the next 5-10 years.

I got a box of osiben flames from gamestop at $160 dumb I know but I pulled the Charizard ex worth $65 got it graded ag gamestop and came back a psa 10 worth $350 dont get me wrong I got lucky but I wouldn't knock another box from that set

Escept there is something in Obsidian Flames. A lot more than in these other ´dogwater´ sets. Some beautiful IR´s and a great Charizard. It´s going up for a reason mate ; )

Boosters definitely should be the biggest part of the investment IMO. I made the same mistake starting out. It was a good lesson though.

Boosters are top tier but dont rule out boxes and tins for specialty sets. Since there is no booster box for those (CZ, 151, PF) other items tend to do well.

Evolving Skies being 1k is a goofy move. You can just cough up a bit more for the good cards and avoid risking 1k for a bad pull rate set.

Anyone opening a $1k ES box expecting to get anything good has some serious gambling issues or a serious lack of a frontal lobe. We don’t do that here.

In the UK we can only buy one box at a time which is really annoying. I’m just buying a brilliant stars box every day and getting the free promo. I disagree with it being a mid tier set - I think it’s fire but people are sleeping on it for some reason… charizards, arceus, eeveelutions, legendary birds gold cards. This set it honestly top tier but people are overlooking it for now. The hype when it first came out was insane

@ i wish! i just made it a point to buy one case every release. So i prepare every 3 months for $679 case purchase. Comes out to $7.50 a day. So if people just cut the energy drink and coffee out they can 2x their money instead of giving it away to starbucks.
