I have the IOPOOL monitor also, and confirmed it is the upgrade, which I bought couple of months ago. Works great, and the app is really easy to use also. Happy customer! Great video explaining the benefits of it. As you say, set up takes 5 minutes and good to go!

Hi James I have a quick question for you please…. I have been following your build series. Regarding building a new house. You have seen several types of construction from hollow blocks to poured concrete to concrete within foam forms etc… what I ask. Based on what you have seen, which method is the one you like best for baseline house frame building? Thanks Mark Euringer

Material selection and strategy would have to take into consideration property location as well as some other determining factors here in the Philippines. One main consideration for exterior wall structures is the year round temperatures. If I were in an area that has very high temperatures then I would certainly consider a method such as AAC blocks. For milder climates and areas prone to seismic activity, solid form or form board construction would be my choice.

Does it check bromine alkalinity and pH? I bought the Icare system and it broke after a year and I’m looking for a new system but scared to put a lot of money into it if it’s not gonna work.

Is it better to have a roof over the pool or exposure to the sun to help with condition of the water ?

Having a roof or shade cover over the pool helps both with keeping the pool clean as well as protecting it from the UV rays which destroy the chlorine (which is why you chlorinate at night).

summary: old unit has been working fine for 2 years, you just got a 2024 new unit free which has replaceable measuring probe/battery (combined) and slightly different looking WiFi unit but otherwise identical. Probe&battery advertised to last "2 seasons" w/ 1 year warranty, replacement costs $109 as of 5/27/24. Sounds like your original unit worked for 2 years (continually?). Seems like a solid product!
