Interesting! I am a slow swinger and have tested all the balls in your test. For me Callaway is shortest of them of the driver…and around the greens almost not playable. Srixon is a rather good ball for me. Titleist is possibly the longest of them, but shorter of the irons. I like the spin though, but I prefer a softer ball…like Srixon. For me Titleist AVX is the longest and best overall ball. Great feel! Maybe a little low flight. TaylorMade Tour Response fly higher, but is shorter from tee. I appreciate your effort and time in putting this test together! Subscribed. I've played all three of these balls and about a hundred others. These results fit with what I've seen - a little more distance off the tee with a firmer ball, but a lot more distance with every single other club with the softer ones. I'm in the low-mid speed - 95ish with driver, 7-iron is high 70s. I'm a 4.4 hcp (at the moment). I will say that I've never had trouble stopping the Supersoft or similar soft balls on greens - even pretty firm greens. But this may be because you were swinging at slower speeds with what I'm guessing are stiff or xstiff shafts - which would produce a pretty flat flight at low speed. I'm playing a very light, high-launching regular steel shaft. Having said all that, I've been gaming the Left Dash for a few weeks and I'm liking that ball quite a bit, too!

Thanks for doing this am a just under mid speed but use Supersoft now knowing what it does for me. Low shots with any club even chips run out more than other balls and high shots have that good declination and hold greens, just have to make sure you do not mishit given this and can take advantage of it. What u are showing is that at the higher levels of mid speed there might be loss in Driver distance versus higher compression balls, Also putts going downhill can run out more but uphill the soft cover requires a little more roll/hit. @fretless057 ай бұрын
One part of the data that you didn't share was the standard deviations for each data-point. The reason I was hoping to look at that was that I'm playing too soft a ball (accidentally ordered Vice Pro Soft instead of Pro) and am finding that my distance control has seemed to be worse than it used to be when I played the Cut Grey (switched to Vice because Cut was out of stock). I did change my swing a bit to help protect my aging back, but I still have to wonder if the much lower compression can lead to more dispersion front to back with a faster swing. From your testing, it seems that, even if someone loves the feel of a soft ball, they really lose performance if they have decent swing speed... I need to move up the chart one the Golf Sidekick post.
@TKGolfYT7 ай бұрын
I think standard deviation is something I should include more in my test results actually 🤔 thanks for pointing that out. I will say though, the motivation to creat this video came from me trying to save some money and buying a dozen Callaway supersofts to play with. I was flying every green with a wedge or iron in hand. But every so often, one would go the distance I was expecting. To me, that suggests that the front and back dispersion with a softer ball was bad. But, that could don’t to build quality as well. There aren’t a lot, if any, premium golf balls that are on really soft end of the spectrum.
@fretless057 ай бұрын
@@TKGolfYT Your statement on build quality is an interesting thought, though there are expensive soft balls (Like Chrome Soft) though I don't know if they're good or selling the name. In any case, it appears Vice is no longer making the Pro Soft ball, so I won't be buying them again! Since my driver speed is 100-105, I think I'd do much better with a higher compression ball and, hopefully, it'll help with my distance control.

Great stuff except for one thing. Urethane covers make a huge difference when chipping and putting, and with stopping short irons on the greens. I find the ionomer covers are far too hard (great for distance with driver and durability), the surlyn are softer but they dont stop or check as well as the urethane covered balls. Maybe do a similar test of urethane balls versus ionomer/surlyn balls? IMO the slower swing players like me, need high launching balls and with a urethane cover. Those who run the ball onto the greens and rarely chip, do not need Urethane balls - the rest of us do as long as they dont lose balls every round ((too expensive).
@TKGolfYT5 ай бұрын
That’s a very interesting insight 🤔 I figured the type of cover would matter more around the green, never considered that it could effect distance etc 🤔

@@TKGolfYT Yes indeed it does - I have tried nearly every urethane ball on the market (retired). With my swing speed 92-96 mph the softer urethane ones spin way too much with the driver, but are great with the 7-PW. Whereas the harder/pro urethane ones are great with the driver, but I lose 10-14 years with the 7-PW. The Pro/hard ones chip best - they stop so quickly so you can throw it right up to the pin.

The slower your swing speed, the softer the ball should be. I believe Wilson makes a 35 that should be used by seniors & those with speeds 75-80 with driver. Slower swings can't compress the ball as needed with higher compressions. Obviously, faster swings need higher compressions.

Great balls for sure!

My 12 Year old Grandson plays the Srixon soft feel and is Driving it 190 to 220 Yards!

I usually play soft… it would be weird playing with it hard
@TKGolfYT7 ай бұрын
For sure changing type would be really weird! Especially with chipping and putting. But are you using the right compression for your swing speed? 🤔 you might be able to find a good feeling ball with the right compression for you 😊
@ponnappaganapathy99419 ай бұрын
Essentially the slower you swing the softer compression you need.

Tyvm, i was using the supersoft but could not hold the greens, i carry 150 with a 7 iron. So i switch to a pro v1 , expensive but the cover can take a lot of abuse before it shows...

It’s incredible how much of a difference it can make 😊 prov 1s are expensive! I did a video comparing 5 different Srixon balls to the pro v 1. Those results are interesting… I’ve now got Srixon in the bag! 😊

Compression has nothing to do with spin.
@TKGolfYT7 ай бұрын
If you hit a soft ball hard enough, it will of course change how the ball spins 🤔
@CybekCusal7 ай бұрын
@@TKGolfYT urethane cover or not has the most impact on spin, not compression. I have my own simulator and have done my own testing.
@TKGolfYT7 ай бұрын
I agree, urethane cover makes a big difference. But to say compression has nothing to do with spin is wild 🤷🏼♂️ a pro v1, a pro v1x and a -pro v1x all have a urethane cover, All designed to spin differently, All have different compression numbers 😊

What golf ball is best for me? I find so many when I play that I use them until I lose them! Or until they get beat up. I play from layouts that are about 6,000 yards and my handicap is around 12. Happy golfing! ⛳🏌

Hi Patrick! It’s all about your swing speed to be honest! What sort of speed you swinging your driver? 🤔 I think we all play with balls we’ve found to be honest 😂 just the way it is 🤷🏼♂️ but if you can stick to a certain ball when you buy, and it’s the right ball for you, you’ll sneakily lower your handicap over time 😊
