→ Here is what ToolGuards Claim To Be THE BEST Ratchet Wrenches In The World - amzn.to/3DiB9P9
-------------------------------------------------------
When I think of the best ratchet wrenches made in the world, brands like Matco, Snap-on, GearWrench, SK, and Whia come to mind. But if you do some searching on the interwebz, you will see that ToolGuards is one of the first listed on MANY sites out there. How have I been living under this rock for so many years and NEVER known about this brand that is taking over hand tools by storm
We go through these tools with some skepticism and what we find out is interesting.

Your logic is sound, most of us aren't everyday users. I found a GearWrench set on sale at Tractor Supply last year for $76 bucks its fairly complete. For the home stuff I do my tools range from 1960's and 70's Craftsman to HF and everything in between.

I live 1 mile from home depot, Menards, and harbor freight. I have two large tool chests filled with old craftsman tools, when one breaks im sol. Sears closed both locations in my city years ago. The menards store in my town requires a receipt to exchange for a broken tool. I don't buy tools at Menards. I have husky and harbor freight tools also, when one breaks I walk in with the broken tool and walk out with a replacement. Home depot and HF will continue to get my business.

I like gearwrench- ratchets and sockets,I own quite a few ..... but I refuse to buy any more of their ratcheting wrenches, insane amount of slop/backlash, including the new 120xp ratcheting wrenches. I returned a brand new 120xp offset long handled box kit (was $200+) the broaching was completely WRONG in the mm set, 12mm was closer to @1/2"-13mm, the whole set was like that. Eagle too distributor have us a heck of time to return/warranty it. We thought maybe they were stamped wrong, but it wasn't, it was just horrible tolerances. I've experienced this and sloppy gearing with quite a few of the ratcheting wrenches....on the flipside, I recommend the gearwrench socket kits and socket ratchets in a heartbeat

I bought the Milwaukee max bite wrench set. Haven’t regretted it once. Have yet to slip on a bolt. They live up to their “max bite” name and will mark up a head of a bolt but it will not slip. Snappy wrenches are staying in the toolbox a lot more these days.

Any wrench set that 1. Skip sizes (is there a reason to skip the 11mm?) 2. is not reversible ( no need to box yourself where you either have to cut the bolt or the wrench) 3. Does not have an offset (save your knuckles) is not worth buying. Period. Even if it is made by Snap-on.

I just bought an 8mm from them today. If it lasts longer than the Gearwrench one I had which fell apart in my hands, the $7 is worth it. Besides, I break nuts with a regular wrench first and then use the ratchet afterward so it doesn't get stressed, which leaves me even less impressed with the Gearwrench one.

I iffy about buying stuff on Amazon that I’ve never heard of. Warranty is a pain (if doable at all) and I prefer to feel it out. I’ve got the Mac Precision Torque wrenches and love them. It’s not just the function, but how they feel. They feel a lot more comfortable to be than others and knowing warranty is easy puts my mind at ease. Obviously, I paid a bit more than a lot of people would want, but it’s what works for me.

@@Mr.Thermistor7228 You’re talking about returns, that’s different. Amazon doesn’t do warranty. Of all those returns you did, how long did you have them? Days? Weeks? That’s part of the grace period. How many times have you sent in an item that broke or needed warranty after years? None, because Amazon doesn’t do warranty. Some companies won’t even warranty if you buy from Amazon, such as Milwaukee. I agree that their return process is easy, but they don’t do handle warranty. They even tell you to check with the manufacturer on every product page.

Lifetime tools was always a lie. They wear out just like tires or bearing in a car. Or a piece of sandpaper.....or a file. Wrenches get rubbed on rusty steel. They get looser over time. They are not lifetime, and expecting that is just stupid . You expect tires to be lifetime? Sure, wrenches should be quality, and to poper size spec, and reasonable cost. And maybe a warranty. But lifetime is stupid.

I recently bought a new Blackhawk set of non reversing ones in SAE off eBay for a really good price. One of them had the "out of round issue" also on the box/ratcheting end. My "fix was the same as yours. Not sure how I would warranty them either though Blackhawk at least is a division of Proto. My rationale is that I don't use ratcheting wrenches all that often, mainly due to the bulky box end most have. There are times when a ratcheting wrench is quite useful though obviously. Ultimately, the old adage, "you get what you pay for" generally applies.

@@WorkshopAddict I am, yes. Hey, on an unrelated subject. I purchased that latest Milwaukee tower light. The one with the 3 separate lights on a pivot 2136-20. Second time I used it I was watching where I needed to redirect the light and as I went in to pick up the tower to reposition it I accidentally kicked one of the legs. It broke right off! It wasn’t until then I realized how weak the pivot point on the legs are. I have to find a box big enough to ship it back to them to honor the warranty. If they ship me a replacement leg the warranty is void. Disappointing for an almost $600 light.

The best ratcheting wrenches in the world cannot even function properly out of the box. The Milwaukee wrenches kick their tail in both strength and function. But hey, you can claim anything. I can claim to be rich, dosen't make it true. The flex head Milwaukee has went to 150 ft lbs and it was still perfect. The 150 ft lbs maxed out the testers meter so he could not go further . Still not sure of your thought process on the testing was. I am going to bend this wrench in a way that has nothing to do with how it will perform on the job.

You need at least 2 clicks to measure, no? How does one guarantee an even starting point?
@WorkshopAddict
@WorkshopAddict 3 жыл бұрын
With the wood, the starting point was easy, get the wrench to the point where the bolt is under tension and would start to tighten. Just like it would be if you were tightening something in a very tight place. Then you back off until you get a click that would allow you to tighten it more and that tells you exactly how much room you need to tighten a bolt. If I just measured the space between clicks, I would not get the "slop" associated with the change in direction and it would not be real world.

I'm always skeptical when I see a video, article, etc that highlights *_"the best ..... in the world,"_* especially when it comes from someone doing tool reviews on YT. I assume there's a *world* of Japanese, Taiwanese and Korean premium tool manufacturers out there, but for convenience I stick to obvious European alternative companies that produces premium tools (also ratchet wrenches) such Stahlwille, Rothenberger or Hazet (Germany), Facom (France), Irimo (Spain), Bahco (Sweden) or Fervi (Italy) that _may_ far exceed the quality of snapons, dewalts and millwaukies. Ohh, a side note, I nearly forgot the revolutionary plier wrenches from Knipex (Germany) that can eliminate both your metric and imperial sets into one (or two) tools. Point is: Americans must stop saying "best what-ever-stuff in the world" until they learn that there is a 'real world' outside their own toddler playground (frankly, I have extremely low expectations they ever will,,, sorry)

@@WorkshopAddict I did and I agree, it's ridiculous that ToolGuard argue they are the world best. My point was that the _reference best tools_ you and most other US based creators are referring to are purely US made tools, like SnapOn, Milwaukie, DeWalt, etc. Further, that extremely many (literarily all) in general argue that only "Made in USA" is of value. Yes, I agree we all should buy locally produced stuff (cars, food, tools, chef knives, you name it) to support our own workers, society and economy, but to argue that it's always best is at least an insult to others. In many cases US made far exceeds products form other countries, in others it definitively doesn't. Remember, you are on KZbin, and how KZbin is constructed is that it's not targeted only towards US viewers, but towards everybody - worldwide - whether they are located in a bush town in Egypt or in Idaho.

Hell Yeah, BUT you are missing the point. There is a happy medium for many people out there who want to get the best quality at a lesser price. Amazon reviews are worthless. I get at least 3 emails daily from Chinese companies asking me to review their garbage on Amazon. I think Amazon reviews are very valuable especially if there are a lot of them. Sure, a lot of people will simply say the item is good or bad with no reference. But often times you can find very detailed and technical reviews with pictures or videos. You can also sort by stars and only look at good or bad reviews to get a better understanding of the reviews. Next time one of those "Chinese companies" ask you for a review don't be afraid to show them what a real review should look like. Future shoppers will appreciate it.
