Meh. Got an RTX 3070 with 32 gigs of ram (only 8 for MC) and I got 140 FPS. Its not that bad tbh Edit: Nevermind that was with the traditional Continuum shader lmao

For me it works and I got a computer of Geforce RTX 4070Ti, Core i7-13700F, 16GB DDR5, 2TB SSD, Windows 11. And a screen of 1920x1080 IPS, 280hz, 1ms, 1000:1, HDR-10, FreeSync/G-Sync compatible, 2xHDMI/DP. A little over 3000 $ or € in cost. Edit: my point is. If I can get nearly 150 fps with 72 chunks load on 108 mods without fps mods to enhance the game. Just basic in game settings. A low end computer with mods that enhance fps etc could also do it.

Rethinking Voxels would be the best but it has issues with water, the physics mod, and lab pbr. If it can work out these issues it will be the best. For now I stick with ones that don't have those problems

Rethinking Voxels is the best one by far. Free, 1.20+ support, and a LOT of customization options. It's like Complimentary mixed with ray tracing.

There is a Coven texture pack I am strongly considering. Love the graphics from the videos I've seen. I'll probably download and compare the NostaligaVX and KappaPT shaders to see what one I like better. But given the overall feel of the Coven texture pack I'm thinking I will like the KappaPT shader better.

i could be wrong but i dont think Rethinking Voxels is a RayTracing Shader unless theres and option for it but, i was able to use it on my 1060 before i had my 2060. I think it uses just some moding that doesnt actually uses real time tracing. Pretty much like every other game that has any sort of lighting in it.

in Java you don't need rtx card to run path tracing shaders

I know you wont read this but Raytracing is not RTX... Its not locked to Nvidias RTX cards either. Raytracing has been around a long ass time, along with path tracing and its commonly used in films. The first fully path traced film was in 2004 ( Monster House ). The reason we are only just seeing it pop up in games is due to how demanding it is for real time use cases and software RT runs way slower than Hardware RT. MC is the perfect game for it as although its optimised pretty poorly, it can with some mods, run on a spud. UE5 has Lumen which is a software based RT solution and can be ran without any dedicated hardware for it at all. People really need to look into this stuff more as its a new tech, its not locked to specific cards and its not called RTX.

His wording does seem to imply he is confused of the term raytracing and he probably meant the usage of raytracing cores rather than the act of raytracing itself. I tested Shrimple and Soft Voxel lite, and they don't work with other mods. Continuum, which I have been using for quite a while now, works flawlessly. Only issue with it is that the newer versions won't be supported with Sodium.

Continuum RT is not free, and there are no plains for it. The "staff" is also extremely aggressive and hostile when asked if it'll be free, stay away from this project.

Rethinking Voxels is very bad in terms of performance. Ultra Settings I get 120FPS but as soon as I turn on Pixel Based Lighting which is the key point of this shader it drops to 25 FPS and this even on low settings.

U could set Nostalgia5.0 to be darker, reduce lightning colors and u have something better with better performance. Less "light colors", less ambient, less blocklight and i cant choose VX version. All RT shaders are too limited, have too much noise, blur, less parallax depth/material effects without sun, problems with halfblocks/everything what isnt full block, less colors, ugly volumetrics or turned off totally, RT range of view is too close to be enought - replaced with uglier rasterization lightning than raster shaders without raytracing. U could compare water in Seus PTGI and Seus HRR, but i would choose Renewed. Without patreon unlocks i could tell only Apollo has some quality but for my mod set is buggy. I couldnt buy acces for something so disapponting. I could pay for Nostalgia6.0 and rasterization development but not for VX and overall this nvidia failed feature.

It is currently impossible for any Minecraft shader to utilize tensor cores, since thats simply not how Optifine or Fabric work.

Path tracing and ray tracing do not need tensor cores to work or run at all. The tech is far older than those cores and is used in films all the time, the reason you can run it in a game like MC in real time is because a spud can run the game with the correct mods. Yes they are path traced shaders.

Tweak the Shader settings, you should have the option to turn down or off motion blur and reduce the fog effects. Best if used in tandem with sodium settings
