The Best Records of 2024 (According to Me)

Hello Chris. A great 2024 wrap up! Watching these year end 'best of' videos has saved me a lot of research when it comes to deciding what I want to purchase that came out last year from artists that are new to me. Annie Williams (Casio Folk!) Kelsey Waldon and your #1 record for the year (no spoilers here) I definitely would like, and the Surfrajettes I've been enjoying for a while. Mdou Moctar might be along the lines of Etran D L'air, who I saw live here in CT last year and uploaded some footage from that show on my channel. I know Etran D'Lair, they are from the same region and are similar musically to Mdou Moctar, but I think Moctar is better.

Hi Chris!! well done and cool to see your favorites from this year and the spotlight on some VC releases, that's a great idea too.... You really picked up a lot of new music after all and you must be one of the few that shows a lot of "not mainstream" music and that cool too, because it means there's still good music coming out from lesser known artists and labels!!! cheers and be well

Okay I need to stream that Gordon album as everyone keeps raving about it but I never played it. You now have me wondering Chris. Nice to see First Boy On The Moon, one of the coolest looking jackets. Yup, those were unknown female country singers but good to see. Heh, I don't think I found any of my best records of the year in antique stores. I feel like I'm missing the boat but I just don't see what's so great about that Kim Gordon record.

Hi Chris, i only have one album from your list and i purchased 37 new releases this year, yup it was Johnny Blue Skies which is a fabulous album. good to see the coloured Presley vinyl, i had never seen that before, great stuff mate. i actually thought you might haver purchased more country artists than you did, anyway my top 37 list video will be up on New Years Day if youre interested. ive already uploaded my top 10 country/folk/americana albums too. i have been revisiting my Sturgill Simpson albums over the last couple of days because i have them on vinyl now great video - Lloyd

I used to have an OG copy of the NoMeansNo album but I rarely played it and liked the first album more and traded it. I don't have any of the 2024 albums you showed. I just got a record by Shower Curtain in a pressing of 10 for the universe. If they become the next Beatles I'll be a millionaire. I think the records I have played the most from this year are a 7" by Youth Lagoon "My Beautiful Girl" bw "Lucy Takes A Picture" and a CD by Conflict At Serenity Pools and the reissue of Gandalf.

I also didn't like that new Kim Gordon album. I think it was mainly aimed at music critics lol. That St Vincent album was close to make my top 10. Cartoon Darkness was also in my honorable mentions. Cool list. A lot of music I'm not familiar with.

I listened to the Mary Timony after someone else suggested it to me and it might have made my list if I had got onto it sooner. I did like the newest Sleater-Kinney more than the last couple of albums, but not enough to make my list.

I hope that Elvis singles box set comes over here. It's been issued a couple of times over the years. I was too slow with it and failed to buy those earlier sets. I cannot understand why they've gone so pricey after all they are just reissues by who knows. But i want it anyway and since it seems Third Man has again done good job i can only put out a wish out there in to universe. Pasi
