I think if he gets hit during his brawl up special, he cannot use it again. Yeah, it goes a long distance, but if someone taps you once, you are dead (Unless you are using glide, of course). Many players forget or do not know about this.

Actually, villager's balloons had no "fuel" in smash 4. That was added in ultimate. In smash 4 he could recover from literally anywhere, there was no gimping him.

They had "fuel" in Smash 4 too, it was patched in after enough people complained about how impossible it was to edgeguard Villager. The difference isn't as drastic as in Ultimate, but it's definitely there

I find it funny how you didn't mention Bayo in smash 4 considering she literally had the best recovery in the game. 2 up b's with a hitbox side b, double side b if you hit opponent no free fall can recover pretty much anywhere and you can still throw out hitbox while recovering. You can even mix up how you want to recover like jump cancel up b, side b, jump cancel up b, or jump cancel up b(x2) than side b, or side b than jump cancel up b(x2), and she can still throw hitbox while recovering. It's comparable to Brawl MK, but not nearly as good, but definitely comparable.

On the Brawl side, he almost didn't mention Pit. IK his recovery is very exploitable in 4 and Ultimate, but it was so unlinear back in Brawl plus that glide (he could litetaly fly from one blast zone to the other with the glide alone) edgeguarding him was no easy task

her airdodge is one of the best in the game, but only as a combo breaker, since it's one of the worst ones distance wise, and while it's true that her two up bs and side b give her great distance, they don't do much on their own, meaning that there are periods in her recovery where she is in endlag and cannot act. her wall jump and wall cling is good, but is rarely used outside of a mixup, plus you can only wall cling on two legal stages, being yoshi's and kalos. she's great distance wise, but is very easy to edgeguard if you know how to given how slow her recovery is

steve recovery is pretty bad honestly, glide is super gimpable, building is not that usefull. minekart is good but if you are to low you have to glide after it and glide is just pretty bad. the distance it covers it great but in an actual match is recovery is average.

1. Pickachu should be on the melee list over peach. His up special goes way higher than peaches, and his horizontal recovery is also very good because of his side b and the fact that he can angle his up b. 2. In brawl yes snakes up b sends him high but he struggles recovering low and he also takes lots of self damage I feel like a lot of Charecters could replace snakes place. 3 this ones a bit smaller but u forgot to mention that shieks up b also adds a little jump extending it even more 4 Ik this just seems like a hate comment and i don’t want it to feel like that this is just some contructive criticism, but other than those things I mentioned this video was great and I can tell you put in an effort. I just can't believe Lucas wasn' t in here, PK Thunder has incredible distance, can be angled, and if you do it fast enough, you can do great multihitting damage if someone tries to gimp you, not to mention he has Zair, which covers amazing distance as well. Not mentioning his airdodge that, along with Ness, covers the most distance in entire game. And also PSI magnet, that can stall you in the air and turn you around which leads to Zair. Also his jump is pretty good too.

Lucario also has a great recovery. His Up Special already can go a great distance, but when he has aura, he can go way further. Lucario Can recover from being *far* under the map. Extreme Speed (the Up Special) can also double up as a good offensive option if you hit your opponent with the hitboxes at the end of the move. Lucario’s Up Special can also swerve and go in any direction via directional input. This makes it so that you can slam down onto the stage, which can deal damage to your opponent and push them away.

Wario's recovery's pretty amazing. Side B allows you to gain some horizontal distance while providing Wario an extra jump, down B gives Wario a vertical boost as long it is partially to fully charged, and up B has a hitbox to punish players who try to hit Wario while he's trying to get back onto the stage.

While good, he is hindered due to being a fastfaller with the worst air speed, meaning that he lacks versatility or time to mix up that recovery, that up B is decent enough. I think the best recovery in Ultimate is from Pacman; it's a floatie with above average air movility, a frame 4 trampoline, the super pellet, a stall move in the hydrant and a frame 5 F-air to defend yourself from edgeguards.

I remember stumbling onto an odd quirk with Villager's recovery when playing a friend. If Luigi's kill taunt connects with the balloons, it won't simply pop them, it activates the spike. I forgot if this was in Sm4sh or Ultimate.

More great ultimate recoveries: Bayonetta: with her jump cancel up b and side b she can recover safely from almost anywhere Zelda: A far reaching teleport with a huge hit box that protects her ZSS: She can use all her b moves to recover (be reverse stun gun can help her recover) she also has zair and a decent air dodge Lucas: His up b reaches incredibly far and has a great air dodge, he also has zair Game & Watch: Itangibility on up b and super far reaching, he can also float to stage and act out of up b. Also has great air dodge Wario: waft, side b which gives you an extra jump and helps recover horizontally, and a decent reaching up b There are plenty others too

I think Banjo has a great recovery. You can do an endless recovery with his grenegg. Also recover with wonderwing. He can get back to stage almost everytime especially adding invincibility to it makes it top 5 imo.

I knew the pac would be back but i personally think that sonic has one of the best recoverys in smash 4 and ultimate with his up special going a fairly high. But his spinshots mix it all up. His spin jump can get some edge guarders. The acctual spin shot gose really far for a horizontal recovery option. And his neutral specail homing attack can home in on edge gaurders. But if he dose not have a extra jump he cant do the spinshot or spinjump. If you use homing attack while no enemy is near you well you should say bye to that stock. Sonics recovery is really good and i argue that its better than zero suit sam in smash 4.

Personally, I disagree with your choices for smash ultimate. I think that the third spot should go to game and watch, because it’s relatively fast, has a rising hit box, slows down your fall, and you can attack out of it. The second slot could have gone to inkling, it’s a good move, and the first slot would have gone to Joker. His recovery goes higher than Inkling, and it’s invincible when rising. He can also use gun as a great gimping tool if anybody comes offstage to edgeguard him.

Megamans Recovery is one of the best in ultimate, it was already great in s4 but now that he has directional airdodge he can basically recover from anywhere with a huge amount of mix-ups while also being almost non committal, because unless he uses his jump he recovers all his recovery options when he gets hit, and if this wasn't enough he can cover ledge with his side b and his upb doesn't put him in freefall

I'd argue to say that King Dedede's Recovery (in Ultimate) is a very good. He's got multiple jumps to stall and his Up Air helps him float a bit while hitting well above him. That's not even mentioning his Super Dedede Jump which goes upsurdly high and has some Super Armor. It also hits like a God damn Meteorite if you hit an opponent with the falling hit. It also buries opponents if the final hit is stopped and the stars it shoots out go pretty damn far and do a phenomenal job and stalling any possible counters.

Aight so this is your singular rob appreciation comment, it feels endless and also hitting a down air after recovering is the best feeling in the world. Up air is also really funny, and then the constant threat he poses with a side special in the air makes it very scary to guard him. Not to mentiaon that a well used down special can knock people away from the ledge if they want to 2-frame you. Overall amazing, and it makes sense that hes a constant threat in aerial combat.

I think these are some good picks, although I would say Game and Watch has one of the best in ultimate. It's great distance let's you get back on stage easily, not to mention you can airdodge after. It can also be used out of shield for a free hit. You can also use any of his aerials or specials out of up b.

I think King DeDeDe has a very good recovery and absolutely can be a honerble mantion. His up-B goes higher than K.Rool’s and doesnt have a free fall. Instead, he has a incredible Spike wich also has a huge hitbox. And his up-B also has superarmor. He can also suck up the opponent when they try to edgeguard him, spit the opponent out and recover back from that.

He HAS to mention byleth now _doesnt mention byleth_ I mean seriously her tether both can latch onto walls like Samus's in melee, and reaches about 3 miles and that's barely an exaggeration, also you can hang in place with it which I've used to stall final smash meters, as well as avoid some final smashes, the only drawback is you can only use it to latch onto the ledge 3 times before touching the ground again, so you cant stall forever

The Pits have pretty terrible recovery since Smash 4. Up B has a lot of distance, but it's extremely easy to punish because it has no hitbox. Side B occasionally works as a mix up, but it's slow and easy to spike.

*Honorable mention:* Post-Brawl Olimar. Basically like ROB and Villager, the pair of winged pikmin can save even when you're seconds away from hitting the blast zone and you can fly for quite a long time, unless you spam it a lot and the pikmin get tired. Also there's the fact that the pikmin directly affect the weight (white the lightest ans purple the heaviest), but you can just throw them away and then recover safely.

Actually alex, sonic recovery is kinda just inkling recovery on steroids, he can spin dash in the air giving him a bunch of air movement and his up b he can act out of it and airdodge witch is actually higher than inkling recovery when he air dodges after his up b.
