Best Rich Hot Chocolate Ingredients: 2 cups milk 2 tbsp granulated sugar 1 tsp cornstarch *see note 1 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips 1/2 tsp vanilla extract 1/4 tsp instant coffee or 1/4 tsp orange zest (optional) or a pinch of cinnamon For the Topping: Whipped Cream Instructions: In a medium saucepan, add milk, sugar, cornstarch, and cocoa powder, and whisk together until combined. Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and heat while stirring occasionally until heated through. Add chocolate chips and continue stirring until chocolate chips melt. If you choose to, add extract, coffee, cinnamon or orange zest. Remove from the heat and let it cool for just 2-3 min. Top with whipped cream and serve with your favorite pastry. Bon appetit! Note: If you like a thicker and richer hot chocolate, you can increase the amount of cornstarch by 1 tsp. I personally recommend it-I love it this way!
