YEP! after seeing this video i contacted the company and got costs on having a 3/4 roof rack and the ladder. their shipping was AWSOME also, why you may ask , well I live in Hawaii and all the other roof racks and ladders sold by other suppliers wanted to charge me 2x the cost of the rack and ladder jsut to ship to me, where as because this company is in Canada they have a set MAX shipping charge which was again AMAZING! less than $1000 for all of it to ship. GREAT product and great people and customer service !

Love the look of this rack and thinking about getting one. Well done video, thank you. Had a question about mounting. I love how you can use tie down rings and the like with the Prinsu and Frontrunner. It seems like these slats are similar, but I'm not seeing any entry points for the hardware like there are on the Prinsu and Frontrunner slats. Do you know how you would use something like this, or have you tried? Thanks in advance!
@project4runner2713 жыл бұрын
The worst case you would have to unscrew one side and lift it up and slide them in and then re-screw it together. I think you may be able to slip those T-nuts in without undoing it though. The crossmembers on this rack I believe are a little heavier gauge than the Prinsu. They are heavier than you would think they would be for aluminum.

Love it. I’ve got a GoFastCamper RTT on order. Picking it up in July..couple questions? I’m 250 lbs, this ladder sturdy? Sending, could you please measure how much or how far the ladder encroaches into the roof, w the rear door open!
@project4runner2713 жыл бұрын
If you open the rear lift gate and draw a vertical line at the seam from gate to roof the ladder sticks beyond that line 1 1/2 to 2 inches. Sturdiness should be adequate for you. Remember it’s only mounted to the lift gate so those hinges would probably fail before the ladder if overloaded. Hope that helps. Have a great weekend!
@InGratitudeIam2 жыл бұрын
The feet of a roof rack are the most critical component. You really need at least 4 per side to handle dynamic loads. Downward force is a minor issue when compared to the side forces generated when a vehicle sways from side to side on a trail or lousy road. Always add at least one extra set of feet regardless of the brand. Those forces need to be spread out. The reality is that there are only two feet on each side handling lateral loads. That's not enough for rough terrain over extended distances and time.

Trd off-road is the way to go when you consider it has all the same goodies as the Pro. From the manual transfer case/low range to the crawl control and the locking rear differential. A-trac, and multi terrain select also included. Actually much more capable off-road than an SR5 in my humble opinion. The red stitching interior from the Pro is really nice also😉. Hey there, question for you. Based on your video, I went with the exact same setup from Greenlane, roof rack and rock sliders. I've had them installed for roughly 3 months now and my 4Runner has only 3,000 miles. I also live in Florida but keep my 4Runner off the beach. I noticed I have some visible rusting inside that has developed where the very first bolt that connects to wind deflector which is very noticeable and annoying. I have also developed a weird white discoloration all long the side rails that I cannot seem to get off no matter what I try. I have tried contacting Greenlane numerous times about this complete with detailed pictures and have gotten ZERO response from them. Have you noticed any rusting on the first cross bar which connects to the wind deflector and know of any way to remove that dripped effect that's appears from each bolt on the side rail? I'm beside myself at this point especially since Greenlane has been ignoring me. Sort of makes me want to remove everything Greenlase and go with Prinsu. Sorry for the rant but it's frustrating. :(
@project4runner2713 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that! I haven’t noticed any rusting at all on mine. I do remember when I first put it on,the thread locker that I put on each of the screws that go into the crossbars seeped out a little bit of residue causing temporary discoloration to the sides. I will try to remember to check that area closely for rust tomorrow and get back to you.

@@project4runner271 Yea I have a strange white discoloration on a few places on my rack and a few on the rock sliders. I tried wiping it down gently with simple green. It seems to help with those water dripping stains a little but not with the white discoloration. I’m starting to wonder if the powder coating wasn’t sprayed properly but who knows...
@brpnw4r942 ай бұрын
@igloo211 ...late to the party here but the discoloration may be from where the stainless hardware and aluminum crossbars/rack side rails meet. A Galvanic corrosion, if you will. 'Tis the reason they use a nylon washer to somewhat eliminate/reduce it at those points of contact. It's a give n take with using dissimilar metals. There are "cleaners" on the market but they're harsh. Mine (other brand) has these mild streaks of pale white...very mild, mind you, where the hardware meets the crossbars/side rails. Hopefully by now you've either lived with it or found another solution. Cheers

I like everything about this rack. My only concerns are with the front 'clamp' type mounts. I'm curious about what it's clamping, it's not very clear based on the install instructions on GreenLane's site. Looks like there are separate pieces, foot and clamp, but looking at pictures, i can't tell how this works. Any water ingress issues or NVH from the front mounts sitting directly in the gutter (instructions ask for the gutter seal to be cut to allow the mount to sit directly in the channel). I've not looked under that gutter seal piece to see if there's any chance for water getting into interior up at the front.
@project4runner2714 жыл бұрын
onaquest Hey, good question. The front clamp type mount actually is two pieces of powder coated aluminum that actually go into the gutter before the nut is actually tightened. Upon tightening the nut/bolt it actually expands the side of the pieces that are in the gutter. Kind of like a lever action it’s actually hard to explain. So after it is tightened it is left wedged in the gutter kind of like a reverse clamp. Hope that makes sense. As for the gutter being water tight the only holes in the gutter are the ones drilled from the factory so if you are generous with silicone when you install the gutter blocks at those four points should be fine. The rubber weather strip that you cut and reinstall isn’t really meant to be water tight from what I saw it’s more to keep leaves and debris out because it’s really just popped in there. Hope that helps lemme know if you need any other clarification. Also the crossmembers are heavier/heavier duty than I expected. I’m pretty sure that they are larger or thicker than you find on the Prinsu. Good luck!

@@project4runner271 Another question about the gutter feet & clamps, any chance they could potentially cause damage to the paint in the gutter area? Question about the all of the mounts, the mounts appear to be vertically fixed. Other racks have to vertical slots allow for adjustments. From what I can see with the GreenLane rack, there doesnt appear to be much adjustability for the hight of the mounting locations. Am I missing anything?
@project4runner2714 жыл бұрын
onaquest The front clamp is technically painted metal on painted metal but it has no movement so it shouldn’t mar at all. But if you wanted to get fancy you could coat the tips with plastidip. As for the height you are correct there really isn’t adjustability unless you were to put some washers in between just to raise it up a little bit. I believe with that being the case it is probably stronger structurally load wise. If you do go with the green Lane I did not receive the noise reducing weatherstrip on the front but I went on the Prinsu website and within their accessories they sell them cheap with fast shipping. I ordered the extra long one for the Land Cruiser so that I could just cut it to size worked out beautifully. Be sure to email Greenlane to make sure they put one in there for you. This all seems like a pain in the ass but I would absolutely buy the same one if I did it again no regrets. Good luck my friend

If you but your tape measure to the roofline of the vehicle it adds about 4 inches above the driver door, and it adds about 3 1/2 at the back of the vehicle. As for that strap you saw in the door was nothing but the loose end very long straps easy way to just shut them into your door and they aren’t flopping especially when you’re only going a mile or so. Good day sir.

@@project4runner271 I have the same standard, 7ft garage door. My non lifted, non ladder T4R is maybe an inch from touching the open, overhead garage door with the hatch open. The hatch is well over 6ft when open. If the door is closed, there is no clearance issue, but if it is open, the ladder would impact for sure. A lot of people don't think of those things when adding mods.

@@someguy5035 Just back that baby in! Problem Solved.

@@someguy5035 I also adjusted the stopping point of the garage door at the motor and it gave me 2+ inches right at the opening.

Question... might be a stupid question I have never purchase anything from Canada and it just has CAD price on their website. So when or how does it convert over to USD? Also did you have any problems contacting them ? I been calling them for days now and no answer .. From when you ordered it how long did it take to get it ? Thanks ?

Ruben Lopez hey man i has the same problem with green lane. I ordered the full roof rack and ladder for my 4runner right after I saw this video back in May 24. I just received my rack and ladder Friday 7/10 and guess what it was missing parts and hardware! so no I have to wait more time to install and wait for them to reply I don’t like there customer service and hate that I had to wait almost 7 weeks for delivery.

What is it with conservatives and Japanese cars these days? Why not buy American?
@project4runner2714 жыл бұрын
Tacoma and Tundras are assembled in Texas. But in my case no American companies making a body on frame Midsized SUV. Chevy blew it in their new Blazer. At least Ford is making new Bronco which I’ll be checking out.

@@project4runner271 That seems to be every "Patriots" excuse, and despite being assembled in Texas they rank a disappointing 17th place and are behind 70 other automobiles that rank higher in the "Made in America Auto Index." As far as Body-On-Frame SUV's, the Jeep Wrangler is not only BOF, & arguably the most capable off-road, but it also ranks 2nd on the index. I agree about the Blazer, and I'm really excited for the Bronco, Hummer, & Cybertruck.

AmericanZ28 “Patriots” don’t need excuses. This “Patriot” loves the free market and my hard earned money goes to products that earn my respect. I have no problems with contributing to Japan in fact I very much admire their pride, and craftsmanship within their culture.

American made cars have been garbage since 1975. I will not even buy a Toyota made in the USA. 100% Japanese made or I won't even look at it. Just my opinion.

@@jimwimmer It's unfortunate, but this proves that a significant number of people just like you are stuck in a world of assumptions, hype and pre-conceptions. This isn't the 1980's anymore, almost any car now a days will make it to and past 300k miles with just routine maintenance (I have 2 Chevys and 2 Fords to prove it). What's troubling (should bother anybody) is that Toyota is succeeding in dismantling the US auto industry and they're relying on the gullible and mis-informed American consumer in order to do it.
