Papaya will always be my favorite but tum made with green beans is a very nice extra crunchy alternative!

My lazy recipe is to make the base without the papaya, and just pour it on top of shredded cabbage, like bok choy. I’ve also done julienned English cucumber.

My mother-in-laws russian salads will forever be my favorites ❤ specifically the garlic spinach one with little crushed almonds 😊 so damn good!

I would like to see more tum recipes honestly, please. I mainly just want to learn and see them for myself. That way, it helps me impress my Thai co-workers and I learn some more Thai words. Thanks and much peace 🙏

Whenever I take out the mortar and pestle to make Som Tum my husband asks “going to pound town?” 😂😂😂

I love papaya salad so much. There are even roasted eggplant salads. The pounding releases unique flavors.

I follow a Thai on IG just because of these dishes. Looking at all the ingredients putting into the mortar is very satisfying

Somtam without papaya is not called somtam, it is called lao lao.I'm not sure if that's the case, but I've heard it like this.😅

I'm constantly pounding salad/tossing salad. Baby oil helps her take it easier.

Calling som tum "papaya salad" is like calling El Niño "The Boy". Why don't farangs simply call som tum as is?
I kinda do know how to make these salads. They are great. I don't eat enough veggies. Why ain't I doing this more often? Ahh, it's because I miss all the things that go with tam and are too much trouble for me to make on my own.

If they put sugar and peanut in it. It’s ส้มตำ Thai version sweet and sour. ຕຳໝາກຫຸ່ງ no sugar add. And Lao ppl insult those dish is not authentic ຕຳໝາກຫຸ່ງ. But Thai ppl love sweet sour and spicy.
