Pelican Plaza Grocery & Deli, right off CA Highway 1 in Bodega Bay. Not a Bay Area place but definitely in day trip range. It's a great all around market and deli with big sandwiches made to order. They use only really fresh bread with quality cold cuts and cheeses. I usually get roast beef and swiss on a wheat roll. They also have side salads, and the market stocks all kinds of drinks chips and snacks. I live in the Bay Area and I head up the coast for vacation a few times a year. I can't drive by without stopping. The people are very laid back and friendly but provide good service. Prices aren't bad for a tourist area.

When I entered, the owner inquired if I was an undercover cop... and then an attorney... and then if I came because of the review. I'm not sure if he was trying to be funny or what. For someone who doesn't seem to care about the internet, he had multiple print outs regarding the Yelp review's status over a period of multiple years posted on the wall. There's no real options beyond the one sandwich that is offered and it wasn't really that good.alot of local construction workers eat there because it's close (ie, short commute) and may have contributed to the Yelp rating.

it is brown tri tip... not great look (being from the Santa Maria area). needs to have a lot of pink/red. but looks and sounds good, drive by this place at least a dozen times a year but always at hours they are closed. Good to have a solid honest review to know to change travel plans to swing by.
