I am serious when I tell you to let everyone know about Tom Saguto Golf. Please let a dozen of your friends know about Tom ASAP......I watch many others on KZbin and this guy is the best instructor I have found, hands down. It's a shame there are only 110k subscribers. This guy deserves a 500k at a minimum and then 1M. I don't know Tom at all, but I want him to stay around as I have learned so much. I am 45 years old, been golfing since since I was 12 and have made more swing changes w/him than any other instructor. At my best ~ 10 years ago, I was a 5-6 handicap--I feel I can get back there w/Tom's help. Again, let ALL your friends and family know about him and his channel/school. Excellent instruction Tom. For individuals striving to become skilled golfers, this is probably the most important video you have made. The most important fundamental for consistent and therefore good golf is that the ball has to be hit below its equator before the clubface contacts the ground. There is no way to get around this fact and Tom is emphatically telling us this for that very reason. Master this drill and the rest will come much easier. Nice work Tom.

Spot on assessment. You cant become a real golfer until you can consistently hit that ball below the equator and then take a little turf. I struggle with a fat shot sometimes so im not there yet but my number one goal is too consistently do this and not care about the result as much. Am i striking it in the right spot and taking my divot in front of the ball is the number one thing for an amateur like me who is capable of a birdie or a triple bogey.

In my last practice, instead of pounding away my bucket without any plan, I decided I would use your 1/2 swing and try to achieve the proper impact position as you specified. I even put green masking tape on the face of my 7 iron to see where contact was being made. I was stunned to see the next 5 shots hit the sweet spot to within 90%, and was amazed at how easy it is to get good distance without effort. I was hitting the 7 iron 110-120 yards.

I know I'm late to the party but better late than never. I'm not picking on anyone because I'm not the best golfer out there but if you look at 1:25 You see someone doing EXACTLY what Tom is talking about......amazing. It seems like a set-up lol. I'm struggling right now with a lot of swing thoughts and trying different things but I'm a big believer in making this game as simple as possible. It has so many variable as it is (wind, different lies, elevations) I don't want to have to think about wrists, not swaying, how much do I raise my hands? what position am I in at this point in the swing...etc. I'm going to give this a try for sure. Tom! I viewed this video when it first came out, but did not comment. Then, I was working on wrist hinge! Today, I was looking up the "flying wedge" after you commented on it in today's video. In viewing the earlier video again, I discovered something that I was working on, "wrist unhinging downward" just prior to impact. This has been my biggest problem for years. I try the “scoop” method and never leave a divot in front of the ball. I will definitely be trying this on the range !! And I recently updated my irons to the Rad Speed One Lengths thinking it might help with better consistency, all it’s done is cost me distance on the 5 and 6 iron. Hopefully this will fix that. I appreciate that, Brian, and I'm looking forward to seeing you in the school! With regard to this particular video, it may simply be that you've got some old swing demons to rid yourself of first before you can be ready to properly ingrain and effectively execute the move I am talking about here. In this regard it is important to understand that the videos, lessons, and drills on this free channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a comprehensive, sequential learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school. Here's some preliminary advice to help you get off to a good start in the school and on your journey to the Land of Ball Striking Bliss: 1) Regardless of a member's skill level, this swing necessitates a complete reboot for someone transitioning from a shift & lift swing (which is typically the case), and therefore it is imperative that one take sufficient time to ensure that the fundamental components are mastered. From the ground up there is nothing superfluous in the Stack & Tilt swing - in other words, everything with a purpose, and a purpose for everything. (For example, contrary to shift & lift where you may be taught to keep your trail foot perpendicular to the target line as a means of "creating resistance" in your trail side, in S&T we flare both feet out 10-20 degrees in order to facilitate a free flowing, inclined hip and shoulder turn.) I cannot emphasize this enough, as frustrations predominantly occur when students jump ahead in the curriculum without properly dedicating themselves to the foundational base upon which our consistently repeatable, powerful, low maintenance swing must be built. Chapter 1 of the Golf Swing Simplified program (GSS) and Part I of Get Out & Go Play (GOGP) both address this. 2a) GSS: One of the many great things about this swing is that you can achieve solid ball striking even at the most basic levels. This is why I oftentimes will suggest that students park themselves on Chapter 2 of the GSS course for an extended period of time after locking down Chapter 1's foundational elements. Chapter 2 reinforces the body motions and the weight-forward component, and it culminates with what I call "The Best Golf Swing Practice Drill of All Time". Work yourself sequentially and gradually through the chapter, and then commit yourself to that drill in Lesson 2.8. Learn it. Practice it. Master it. You can even use this partially abbreviated swing on the course and play quite well with it as it will provide plenty of distance. (It actually is the full swing minus just a couple of power accumulators.) Once you've got that down, you will be well prepared to move forward in the curriculum and well on your way towards taking ownership of YOUR swing! 2b) GOGP: This quick-start program is exactly as it sounds - it is designed to fast-track you out onto the course so you can have fun - and success - playing as you learn! Should you choose this path, everything in #1 above still applies, and as implied above in 2a you will still want to work through it sequentially and gradually, mastering each lesson before moving ahead to the next one. In this program, Drill #5 - The Flying Wedge is the one you'll want to park yourself on and nail down. 3) Also, as you progress always keep in mind the V1 Swing Video Analysis service, an effective and inexpensive service that I highly recommend to everyone in the school. I liken it to bringing your swing into the shop for a tune-up or minor repair. Scheduling one on a quarterly basis for preventive maintenance will do wonders for keeping things humming along nicely, and it's also a great tool for pinpointing and resolving any issues that arise. The process involves downloading the free V1 app and then submitting two videos to me through the app - one down-the-line (captured from your stance line, not the target line) and the other face-on. You'll find more information about the V1 Analysis halfway down this page on the Saguto.Golf site: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolf 4) Finally, please migrate over to the SagutoGolf Community Forum - which is included in your online school membership - and begin engaging with your fellow members. Impact is going to make a different sound and the ball is going to get really small really fast when you execute this correctly!! Forward shaft lean - which is a trait of all great ball strikers - does take some loft of the club, but the crispy compression it produces provides for all the trajectory you need and a penetrating ball flight. Hi Steve, You start with your weight forward (55/45 generally, but up to 60/40 for the longer clubs), gradually add more forward weight to the top (70/30), 80/20 halfway down, 90/10 impact, and 95/5 finish. The wrists hinge gradually on autopilot throughout the backswing in response to the body motions and the weight of the clubhead. Cheers! Tom

Another Saguto golf tip that just works. Took it to the range yesterday and was nailing sweet iron shots down the range either straight or with a little draw. Only problem was I was nailing my irons 10, 15, 20 yards further than usual (according to my launch monitor). I'll need to be cognizant of that when I play otherwise I'll be air mailing greens lol.

The best decision i ever made for my golf game was joining saguto golf. I have a golf net hanging from my carport and every time Tom posts a video I jump off my seat and go out and try it. Guess what?... They all work! His videos are priceless and his online school/courses are a phenomenal value! If you follow Tom just on youtube without enrolling in his course to quote Archie Bunker your'e a "meathead!" This guy is giving us the best golf instruction EVER. Never boring, always insightful. and again..It works!!

With the wrists unhinging down to get maximum power , I totally agree . But if you start off with a neutral grip and square club face at address you will end up with an open club face at impact with the unhinging down method . With the unhinging down method you either need a closed club face at address or a very strong grip at address to reciprocate a square club face at impact . Also at impact the back of your left hand will be parallel to the target line , or in other words facing straight out in front of you . I find this method takes a lot of the timing issues out of the swing . Tom ,I’d like to know your thoughts. Cheers. And thanks.

As you will know from viewing my channel's content, Tommy, I embrace simplifying the swing so we do not have to rely on timing and/or exceptional hand-eye coordination, thus garnering consistently great results without having to continuously work so hard. So we put in the time and effort on the front end to build the swing and ingrain the motions, and then we can enjoy low maintenance, powerful, predictable, body-friendly ballstriking bliss for the rest of our lives! With regard to the grip - strong, weak, or neutral - I tell folks to let their ball striking be their guide. And since the stock ball flight with this swing is a push-draw, I do not recommend a closed face at address. I suggest re-watching this video as, based on what you are saying, I'm not sure the lesson resonated properly with you. As I watch this video I can’t help but look at the guy behind you practicing the very exact wrong swing your talking about in this video. Would of loved for you to do a video of randomly fixing golfers swings on the range, that guy could of used this tip. Great video!

something i just started doing that accomplishes this exact move consequently is at the top of my backswing where i used to “hinge” my wrists, which resulted in terrible slices, I now roll my right wrist back in lieu of a hinge per say, kinda like i’m losing at arm wrestling, and try to keep it throughout my downswing. Results in super kfc contact and makes it almost physically impossible to flip my wrists. 😁

@@SagutoGolf Thanks Tom, since i found your channel my game has improved 100%, I’m shooting in the 80’s for the first time in my life. Convinced myself to take golf more serious now and joined the local club and got a ghin number and the whole deal 👍
