trhis comment makes no sense. paladin, templar, and crusader are all similar knights with different higher callings. they arent based on what weapon they are currently holding. if you want to get technical there are no paladins in this game. a paladin can use a warhammer, a greatsword, a sword and shield, whatever, and still be a paladin.

Your confuse of my point, paladin are different in every game. if i ask you what are paladin in ff14 u would say sword and shield. paladin use greatsword/wand in throne and liberty. so if i search a paladin build and see a greatsword/sword and shield, that not right. lore wise in DND ur right 100%. but this game there not the same

I came here to improve my Paladin build but this is worse. Vital Force is the strongest dps passive there is in the game, working off max health. It’s #1. Second, you don’t need ascending slash since shocked comes from stunning blow (on bosses) and everything else doesn’t need the guillotine bonus, so that’s a wasted ability slot, and you’re not cursing with touch of dispair to stack 3x curses to vamp, which keeps you at 100% life in virtually all content until you’re being stunlocked.

First off, loving this build, but with regards to the defensive skill, I've found the wand's is better. Even without a perfect block, everything that hits you while you're defending gets a stacking DOT, and a perfect block DOTs everything around you anyways, leading to more sustained damage against everything you are fighting. Edit: Did some testing, and it's better than I thought. The wand defense skill is just casting Touch of Despair, for just stamina, on every enemy that hits your defense. The cast includes your upgrades and specializations applied to Touch of Despair, plus it triggers Vampiric Contract for every tic of DOT damage from the curses.

The GS defensive does NOT give more damage, it gives a very very slow AoE spin, fine for farming elites but terrible “damage” against a real target. It takes the time of 3-4 attacks.

Been playing with this build. It is not bad but I realized stacking curses and eventually topping off a curse explosion seems to be a better approach than relying on prone and stun. The constant damage for the DOTs adds up fast, and curse explosion can easily hit hard at the end of it. Furthermore, depending on your passives you can heal yourself just by hitting a cursed enemy. Also playing around with the bow/wand combo which might even be better for solo play in this game.

Lmao the 12 knight of charlemagne (paladin) never use a greatsword, most of the painting and statue depicting them wielding a 1 handed sword and shield or sometimes a spear, the most famous paladin weapon is Durendal which is a 1 handed sword, I don't know where you get that paladin wielding a greatsword 😂

FYI and I'm sure you know this, but ALL stats increase your damage output. Game even tells you this when you acquire you first stat point when you begin the game.

Nice build, I'm currently using it and have been doing content pretty easy. For PvE it's putting out DMG, Healing, and I can tank. Been doing dungeons as a DPS, use the dash to intercept any loos mobs from the glass cannons, dish out pain and help heal which frees up the healer to focus on the main tank. I'm only 43 atm so looking forward to the endgame. Only thing that I think you left out was what traits on the gear to look for and what gear you should be aiming for the end game. Or are you transitioning to another weapon for end game?

Dude, I my controller. I switched my R1 and my L1 buttons to make it much less awkward to you know hold down the L1 and push buttons with your other hand instead of holding down the our one and then trying to push buttons or they are too and trying to push buttonsand then push button for that, but it was just awkward the way they had it set up by default so I swapped those two keys thankfully we can change

Great sword tankiness come from their passives. It provide alot of health and armor. Their heal ability also have a dmg reduction node that help. If u combine it w wand that have heal and shields, they can pass as a decent tank

Body more health that doesn’t make a great sword, user a tank the ability to tank traditional tanks have abilities that draw aggro taunts, and and and things like that. They also have debility to shield themselves from damage to hold their own while the healer tries to keep their health up, I mean given the circumstance in this game, you can be both your tank and your healer, but that’s what sword and shield wand. A great sword wand concept great sword is awesome for clearing mobs and content just running around devastation everything.

I'm having way too much fun being almost completely unkillable in pve with a similar build, I just use the sword and shield in stead of the greatsword and because of that it takes ages to kill anything by myself but I survive "insta kill" mechanics that are meant to be avoided so I know I'll win the fight, it's just a matter of time 😅

It's pay to win in the sense that you can outright buy the weapons or gear off the auction house, granted they cost hundreds and some thousands actual money and there are whales who've spent a mortgage payment on they're gear, but luckily you can sell gear you don't want for premium currency and be completely f2p if you choose, of course your progression will take a lil longer

I've been peeking at it, but the tab target nature is really annoying. Is there a way to make it... less... tab target? Like I have to aim at a bad guy, then tab to lock it, then press the ability. Can't I just aim at them like in ESO and press the ability and automatically be moved into range? I'm constantly getting 'invalid target' with things that I'm trying to attack that have the mouse over target on them, but things just don't trigger until I "tab target". (There seems to only be a move into range toggle, but even that doesn't seem to really help.) Also, when swapping weapons, there's no way to make it like ESO is there? Where your 7-0 abilities move to be 1-5? I kinda have a hard time pressing anything past 5. (One of the biggest reasons I left WoW was way too many buttons.) And with auto attack... it often seems not auto? Like I'll do a charge in and often it seems like I'm not auto attacking after? Is there some kind of toggle for that? That seems really dumb. I've been doing Sw/Shield and Wand, and the starting AE debuff from the wand seems decent for AE. The only issue is like a 1.5 sec cast time, so it's not great once combat has started because you'll usually get interrupted casting it. I'm very tempted to do Sw/Shield and Dagger but 'behind' seems completely pointless in a tab target game, and no ranged attack seems really limiting. Is there a place to buy regular low level armor? This combo seems like it would be more tempting if I could up crit chance, which I'd guess would be tied to medium armor.

You can also go to "shortcuts" and swap all keybinds. Check a video for UI setup, it takes like 2 min.

Like I don't know if you play ESO, but there, if you have something in your target sites and you press an ability, it automatically targets them and does the ability. My big issue with T&L is that I can have something in my target sites, but it won't do anything until I tab to release my current target and make the new target the active target. I left tab target games because of things like this. :p

A thing you could try is keybind your basic attack to left mouse button, click next target, cast skills. I did that, I found it to be little less clunky than default.

ive been pushing some limits with this build. The way you are doing is safe but since you dont have too much equipment, you cant really dive into the specifics. it all started from your video, so thanks for that. I specialized in damage buffing and debuffing the enemy to get guilhotine and death blow to do max damage. the dash skill is good for some cases but pve wise i found it really useless....

Hey, it looks like you need to play SnS to be a real tank (some spells generate aggro), so I doubt you can be a real tank with that build, you should aim for SnS/Wand
