I don't know if this has been mentioned, but there is an automatic setting on the aperture ring that allows you to control the aperture as you would normally with the camera. I'm loving this lens so much!

Chris..Another great video, and I make sure I watch all your videos about camera's and lenses. I just upgraded my camera system to a Sony A7Riii, and the Zeiss Batis 25mm,40mm, 85mm, and the 135mm. Dropped a load of money, but it was a Black Friday deal that I couldn't pass up. I think what I have now will carry me through all my camera needs. As a hobbyist, and not a professional, I think my system is probably "overkill", but the price was right, and I know what I have is top of the line when it comes to camera, and lenses. Keep up the great work, I learn so much from your videos.

24GM is by far my favorite, I use it the most then 135GM for portraits, sports, stage, etc and when I can't use those 2 lenses I use 55 and 85 1.8

I just got the 20 1.8 and its insanely good. I had the Samyang 24mm but it really beats in in every way so I'll be returning that one. You really see the difference between 20 and 24 so I'm pretty sure I'll be adding this one. Optically it is even slightly superior than the 20mm that in already love.

I'm.exactly the same I have a Sigma 24mm F1.4 art for my D750, I use it 90% of the time - it's a nice focal range that makes you feel like your in the action - my other lens is a 50mm f1.4 just for portraits. Im hopefully buying a Z6 soon so it'll get replaced with the 24mm F1.8S Z lens.

For my crop sensor: Sony E 16-55mm f/2.8 G all purpose lens Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 for portraits I know the 16-55 is expensive and you could get the Sigma trio for less but IMO the lens is as sharp as the trio and it's much more easier to carry around and it adapts quickly to the environment you are in without risking to loose the moment. The 85mm is an easy pick, it is just an amazing lens with amazing sharpness and bokeh

Matteo Sivilotti I have the sigma prime 16, 56mm and can’t agree more. Hate to switch lens every 10 minutes when I travel. For portrait tho the samyang 85 f1.4 cost the same and is way better for bokeh quality (the sony is very busy)

very good lens even better on the R4 since in crop its a 36mm with 26 megapixels. a few little mistakes the aperture ring on 'A' will mean you can use the on camera controls.Got it early happy i did since it was so hard to get later... For me this would also be the 'one' lens if forced also love the 1635GM would be close second.

Going to be selling my Canon gear to switch to Sony at some point, as my current body isn't good enough for video. Photo is entirely personal preference, some people don't mind a little noise in photos, others mimic it. For Video I can go up to 10k ISO and still be happy with the result

I had one and returned it as it wasn't sharp at 1.4 at or even approaching minimum focussing distances. I'm aware that the depth of field is minimal at this distance at 1.4 so there isn't much expected to be in focus but nothing was actually sharp. This is with repeated tests and using both AF an manual focus. I assume this is just a bad copy that I had, can you confirm that I should be expecting sharpness at 1.4 at these distances?

A real shame as the images looked amazing as a whole, I just knew that it would always be nagging me for such an expensive lens. I'll get another copy to try. My plan is to pair the 24 with the 55 as a light weight travelling kit.

Alexandra Husarek well you have already the 24mm so you want that focal but more bright and way sharper? Get the 24mm gm! You want to get more wide? Get the 16-35 it’s that simple

That really depends on what kind of photography you plan to take. For versatility and those shots where you just don't have the time to change lens I would go with the 16 - 35. The 24mm I would use if I can freely move around and get close to the subject. The 24 is a prime so it's a bit sharper, but they are both really nice lenses. You just can't go wrong with any of them.

Fantastic for video as well. Love it. people say to me...."But you paid $1900.00 CAN......are you nuts"?!!? I'm like...."Shut up.....if you were a photographer, you'd sleep naked with this thing every night"! That usually mutes them, actually, they literally stop talking to me.
