As someone who has just found your videos I would like to ask you, first of all, if you do much with headphones, and if you have ever built a set of headphones, specifically just 2 speakers hooked up to a female 3.5mm panel jack in a set of hearing protectors, for instance? Also, I would like to apologize before I get into the nuances of whet exactly I want to try and figure out, as I tend to make long posts, and repeat myself multiple times, while trying to find answers for separate but related questions... I'm looking to build a set of headphones without any circuitry inside, aside from the speakers themselves, for a removable cord set of headphones, as I generally don't like most kinds of headphones I have bought, and am wondering what I can do to make the experience as good as possible. Specifically, I'm currently looking at something about 2inches in size, that's not the standard coin looking plastic "magnetic" speaker, and found something on Amazon I like the looks of that has specs of around 3watts, and 4ohms, that is supposed to be a good speaker for use in things like raspberry pi devices and other similar things, and supposed to be full range as well. My main problem looking at different speakers, is the fact that different brands use different style cones and surrounds, as well as different types of speakers altogether, and I honestly don't know how to find a "good audio quality" speaker that looks pleasing to the eye... I found some with rubber looking surrounds and a hard plastic looking grey material, but I'm so used to the speakers having a tweeter dome in the middle when tearing stuff apart, even with cheap cardboard looking speakers in it, that I don't know if that's really necessary, nor do I know how to tell if a speaker is truly full range, just by looking at a picture of it. Obviously I'm looking for inexpensive speakers for use in my project, and my current ones I'm looking at are around 12-15$ for a set of 4 speakers, but again, I don't know what a good speaker, audio/range wise, is supposed to look like, nor what is going to be good as far as build quality and material goes, in relation to getting better sounding sound. I'm the kind of guy that would rather build something than buy it premade, just so you have an idea of how I prefer to do things, in case you were thinking I'm crazy for even thinking of doing something like this.(and it's ok if you DO think I'm crazy) If you know of a place I could go to get some guidance, or if you know anything about these kinds of projects yourself, getting an end product that sounds "good" for cheap, then any advice given, would be appreciated. It doesn't need to be audiophile grade help either, as I'm relatively new to custom built audio, and I'm just trying to get the information to get the right speakers, and to hook everything up properly, as well as to take pride in trying to do the best job I can do, now that I have a new soldering iron that should make my builds better by itself, necessitating the attempt to make the end product nicer looking...

I picked up the N400's even though I already own a pair of Galaxy Bud+'s. First impressions: the Buds are way more comfortable, with a much nicer fit, basically surpassing the N400's in every aspect of the experience... except sound. The N400's remind me of my 6xx, with a natural timbre and ever so slightly boomy bass. The Buds are well tuned, slightly less bass emphasized (on default profile), but have an artificialness to them that is especially noticeable when A/B'd People have complained about QC issues, but that's yet to be seen. The N400's at least *feel* like a premium product. I'll be keeping the Buds handy in case the N400's crap out on me, but I much prefer the sound coming out of them

I love my Lypertek Tevis because I came from Final Audio E2000 and QDC Neptune, all of which are somewhat neutral but one issue I noticed after a year is that the left earbud has faulty contacts which makes it hard to charge. It's extremely frustrating to only have 15% left when you thought you left it charging overnight. There are also times when both of them disconnect when you take one off and have your hand hold it below the source(e.g. holding one earbud with your relaxed arm below your phone which is in your pocket).

To my ears these 3rd Gen Air pods are more comfortable compared to the newer Pro version with the soft gel tips. kzbin.infoUgkxgl8SzyQoymMu-S3V55Dskg5QJ8xr1yCR That said, compared to the 3rd Gen, I notice these do not stay planted in the ear as well. One design issue I think, is you squeeze the stem and click it twice to advance your songs. On 3rd gen you tap the large speaker. The difference is by grabbing the stem each time, you tend to loosen the bud fit in your ear. Not always, but the bud falls out a few times while running. The old tap to change never had that problem for me. I would not have changed that tap function. That said, the newer Pro version sticks in the ear, almost airtight if you want that. I do not like that Airtight fit. So that's why I'd stay with this version as the best trade off of comfort, use, and overall feel.
@mndlessdrwer2 жыл бұрын
You've never experience ear violation until you've tried inserting classic etymotic IEMs. The triple flanged eartips are truly a new kind of deep penetration. I'd also have to agree about the mainstream buds. The Sony offering certainly aren't as terrible as they could be, given Sony's history of tuning monstrosities, but the only reason you'd really want the Sony is for their ANC. It really is like shutting a vault door. In that regard, they're great. In terms of sound quality... ...hmm, they do offer LDAC, which helps a bit if you enable it, but from a raw tuning perspective, Samsung is the winner. Even with only Apt-X LL, it's got great sound.
@bloodgain2 жыл бұрын
Exactly. I have the Sony WH-1000XM3s. The reason to have them, by far, is the unsurpassed ANC. Sony and Bose trade blows on who is the ANC top dog. They are comfortable, not fatiguing to listen to (which the Samsung Buds+ are, even Crin admits), have great battery life, and stellar Bluetooth performance, and the Android app that controls them is genuinely good. They sound... fine. If you dislike the tuning, you can EQ them a bit in the app. But honestly, what are you really going to listen to on them? KZbin/TikTok videos, podcasts, compressed audio from Spotify/Pandora, or white noise. Sony aimed at what mattered, QoL, and nailed it, and that's why they are popular.

I can completely forgive Sonys tuning with ANC that great. I have the WF and WH XM4's, I wore them at my old job where ripping boxes and people yelling around me was the norm. I didn't hear any of it, and the tuning feels like it works alongside the ANC to cover what little sound makes it though. Even if it's wildly inaccurate I never found it fatiguing. I never use them to listen at home tho, the buds are my EDC pocket earbuds because I already have them and I don't buy redundant products. And the Headphones are great when I'm on a train or plane. But For consumer audio, they are great products. Built well, with good features and for 90% of people the tuning won't be an issue. When I want great sound I have things at home that do that, when i want good enough sound and convenience, Sony is a go to, especially with that ANC. They tuned them to he easy to listen too for hours, which means they aren't accurate. But they never claimed to be reference headphones so it doesn't other me that they aren't. They deliver exactly what they promise

I've had a similar product that I like the sound and fit but basic functional things didn't work and were really frustrating. This is why they have been discounted in the US to $47 as they did with the Skull Candy Indys. I bought Galaxy buds 2 pro. I was impressed at the beginning. But now that I have used them more and I have alternated between car audio or phone speaker audio I am much more impressed by those buds. Everything is very clear it doesnt lack in any compartment. Bass isnt super heavy and to me even tho kinda dislikes the high hz range in general, it sounds pleasant here. For the people that wonder. I charge them once a week or so. The case is very satisfying to play with to my ear they are comfortable the the anc works fine. I take the subway daily and cross high traffic streets and the fact that i barely hear any of it means that it, at the very least works. Connectivity is very fast too but I have a samsung so take it with a grain of salt.

you're exactly what I was looking for, I used the right keywords "best sound quality earbuds 2022", you came in the first 5 results or so. Thing is, you're absolutely right, they spend so much time talking about the noise cancellation, mostly active, a feature I never felt I needed, if the passive noise cancellation is not enough, then maybe i'm in a place that's too noisy, go somewhere quieter to listen to music or have phone calls. All I care is sound quality and that they stay in my ears just doing regular daily life, not gonna run a marathon on them, so your video at least covers sound quality, I'll figure out the ergonomics somewhere else, and battery they all try their best with battery life, so nothing to worry about either

I got the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro as a freebie with my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G phone back in June last year, and it's honestly what brought me back to the audiophile hobby. They sound great, and they're super convenient. I still have my Sennheiser HD 280 Pro headphones from 2009 when I first got into the hobby, those Buds Pro from last year, and then I got the BLON BL-03 and Sennheiser HD 58X within the last 2-3 months. Gonna eventually go up the ranks, but I'm enjoying the budget stuff first. P.S. I'm glad to see that your new channel revival is going well. 26.6k subscribers in a short amount of time. How would you compare the tuning on the Blon-03 to the 58x? The blon to be sounds very neutral and natural, besides the subbass. I've never heard the HD 600 series, but I do have a HE-400i which is good, if not a tad too much upper mids
@Ricelord42 жыл бұрын
@@mikafoxx2717 I would say that the BLON BL-03, compared to the HD 58X, is warmer, with more emphasis on the mid bass and lower mid range. Sub bass is also a little bit boosted on the BL-03, but then again the roll-off on the HD 58X or any of the HD 6-series is very abrupt below 50 Hz. The treble on the BL-03, while nice and natural, isn't nearly as resolving as the HD 58X, and that makes the soundstage feel smaller. Then again, the BL-03 has pretty okay soundstage for an IEM. I don't know how the HE400i would compare, as I haven't heard a pair yet.

It pushed the total cost to about $35 USD instead of just $22, but I think it's worth it. After looking at Crin's database, I'm thinking my next IEM purchase might either be the Etymotic ER2SE or the Moondrop Aria. After watching this video and the price point I got myself a set of the AKG tws. I had zero issue pairing them. The app has worked flawlessly for my iPhone. The product is extremely well made. And yes he is 100% correct they do sound Fantastic. Also have to agree with him they are a little too bright or sharp on the high end. Some songs I’ve noticed on testing the IEMs can play unpleasant sharp tones for vocals and pick up poor recording noise. Now this is only while testing older recording or remastered recordings of the various Metal Genres I typically listen to. The soundstage is fairly wide and every instrument can be clearly heard with strong vocals. The low end is clean and the full eq graph in app allows for customizing eq profiles. These are the best sounding IEMs I own for sure. The touch controls for me have not been the most accurate. Taking several tries to get from ANC to ambient/ talk through. The pause play skip and assistant has worked really well though.

I’m surprised the Moondrop Sparks weren’t mentioned as their tuning lines up with the Harman target as good as the AKG N400 except just a little less bass
@alancrome36842 жыл бұрын
It's because honestly, if you are looking for their sound you wanna go wired, the moondrop sparks have numerous problems and quality issues and ZERO features that make TWS buds worth it(ANC, passthrough, ect.) The moondrops sound awesome to an audiophile, but have nothing that makes TWS buds worth it.. idk there's a reason they aren't mentioned and it's because each TYPE of ear phone has specific use cases, and just audiophile grade sound in an TWS bud is NOT the primary concern of people buying TWS.
@alancrome36842 жыл бұрын
There are different kinds of best(As dude said in the video lol) the sparks have the best sound, but zero other features.. You have to think I wear my TWS buds(sony wf-1000xm4) out to stores, shopping, skating in the city, etc. I need passthrough to hear things around me, blah blah. I am not critically paying attention to the sound and therefore the higher quality sound isn't worth it because of all the other distractions in my way. If I were at home though, then I could hear detail and pay attention better. So in TWS, why care about how accurate the sound is?
@antwantf22 жыл бұрын
@@alancrome3684 Because the bare minimum a TWS should do is produce a good sound for you to enjoy your music. At the end of the day, features like ANC and passthrough are just frosting on the cake. If a TWS came out and made the best ANC in the world yet had Raycon levels of bad sound quality, who would want to buy that? I don't think anyone wants to buy a TWS that silences the environment to be a void just to hear their music be played through a drainage pipe. Sometimes the passive noise isolation, quick bluetooth connection, and no wires is enough for people to buy a TWS that has good sound quality.

I'd quite love to see a video about which IEMs beat the good TWSs, Specifically I'd quite like to know the answer to "how much money can you save by going for IEMs over TWSs?", from a purely sound quality point of view. I have the XM3's which I loved until the ANC decided to act up and now I have to turn it off in the app every time I take them out of their case, which makes them so much less convenient that I'm considering going back to the wires I was so eager to ditch.
@al2011032 жыл бұрын
For what it's worth - my rec for a dongle DAC would be the ovidius B1 and if you want bang for the buck performance in IEMs it would be the Tanchjim Oxygen. Technically, that's not a cheap pair of purchases, but you'll love the sound!

I have a pair of Momentum True Wireless 3s and I kind of regret buying them, Ive noticed constant signal issues with aptx on, weird loud popping sounds when noise removal is on, I find them uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time and ive had to send my first pair back for refusing to charge 2 months after I got them. I paid almost $300 for them (Canadian, on sale) and I still frequently go back and use my Lypertek Tevis that I bought in 2020 that are now held together by glue after wearing them for 24 hours a day for a year. The fact that I can use either Tevi in either ear is a huge bonus for me as well and I cant do that with the Sennheisers

Just like you said, I was researching wireless buds and stumbled on your channel. You do a great job and I was entertained even if I wasnt interested in the buds you were talking about.

Interesting. While I find the Lypertek exactly as good as you say, I found the Jabra 65t to be unbearably muddy and gave them to my mother; maybe I should try them again sometime.
@theearthisbread2 жыл бұрын
Muddyness is because it bleeds into the mids a bit. It has a 5db boost at 200hz which makes it muddy.

Its actually quite hard to find a brand new OG Galaxy Buds in my country's online market place, quite a rarity. So i settled with Buds Plus. Im surprised you still gave them a high mark (B) in your website, despite you not liking the mids and treble, and only like the bass.

I can vouch for the build quality for the buds pro. It can survive multiple 10-15 feet falls, getting sat on for hours and even drowning in water and toilets (don’t ask me how I know all this). It still works perfectly fine. I honestly don’t fkn know how it still works. The case tho, so be careful. It did fall multiple times for like 4-5 feet but I never got wet. I’d be careful with the case.

I really liked my buds+ but I couldn’t get a good ear fit using replacement tips that would actually allow the case to shut, so I bought the AirPods Pro. They’re great but I’m really missing the Galaxy buds’ amazing battery life.

Thank you so much for this video. I was getting frustrated looking through review sites and KZbin videos for new wireless earbuds. Everyone had a different list, and i didn't trust any of them lol. All I want is good sound and okay battery life under $100. The AKGs are still $47.99 with free shipping as of 4/21/22, I'm really excited for them to get here :)

@selinamularz91942 жыл бұрын
@@ZinthYneX I did, and they do sound really good. I actually prefer the galaxy buds 2 just a smidgen more, but it's really close, and may have to do with fit more than sound. I also really like that the app for these has an equalizer.

@@selinamularz9194 Would you say the fit on the AKG's is still good if just a tad worse than the Buds 2?
@selinamularz91942 жыл бұрын
@@ZinthYneX yes, and to be honest they probably fit most people just fine. I just have really small ear holes lol. They came with extra ear thingys but i haven't messed with them much yet, so maybe they're great and i just haven't chosen the right cover.

Thank you so much for this kind of video. Sound quality is very important to me and I couldn't care less about features or how intuitive the app may be. I could never get the Liberty 3 Pros to sound natural with their mixed-bag tuning, that is to say, sometimes the tuning of those buds along with their unique drivers push out good sound that 9/10 sounds ideal for hip-hop or electronic. To make matters worse, the ANC actually affects the sound quality as well, which cuts down on the mids making instruments sound obese with the bass taking control over the sound. I want to have natural-sounding earbuds by the time I upgrade to the next prettiest Samsung device so I'm not sitting here with $20 Sony wired buds and a dozen shitty-sounding IEMs and no headphone jack. I personally hate the removal of headphone jacks on phones- because you gain nothing out of that removal. Greater haptic feedback? Save that for PS4/PS5 controllers where it adds to the gaming experience. As a fan of artists like Living Colour, Stryper, Scorpions, and Classic rock/alternative metal in general, it's a shame mainstream IEMs fail to grasp the natural instrumentation. Guitars never seem to sound like guitars because all anyone cares about is delivering b a s s bass and more b a s s. But like... if guitars sound like shit how can any other instruments magically sound natural? It wouldn't make sense for the unique textures and energy of bass to be on par with reality but nothing else in the mix does, which is how I'd more or less describe the infinitely disappointing XM4s. I don't care about the Bluetooth codecs if the raw sound of the earbuds isn't natural to begin with. On that note, I've found LDAC to be very harsh sounding on the XM4s and the Liberty 3 Pros. Worst part is...it doesn't break past the tuning barrier :( in fact, it would seem nothing can be done to break past the tuning barrier of any earbuds I've tried. To be fair, I like the Buds+ tuning...but the "meat" of guitars and bass feels lacking to me. Also, they don't sound very immersive and it's easy for instruments during the chorus of a song to be thrown together and become "un-listenable". I can say that there has never been a fit quite like those buds, so I can rely on them to stay in my ears and never get painful either. But back to sound-related stuff- I know for a fact that if music sounds natural than it only makes sense that movies, TV shows, and videos will sound more life-like as well. Plus, as someone who likes to record my own bass playing from time to time, it's good to be able to hear what I played the way it actually sounded. I know mic quality affects that so I just use my S10 and it's pretty much spot-on. Anyways, that's my rant done and done with.
