Fun fact, I learned this recently actually BUT Andrew’s version of Peter Parker is actually more comic accurate. Peter in the original comics ride a motorcycle, talked back to the bullies and was fiery, usually said harsher things than they did, he was still a genius, just wasn’t some nerd loser.

and people often made the dumbest criticism that garfield was too tall and too goodlooking to play spiderman, garfield's the exact height as comic book spiderman, and peter in the comics was always good looking and charismatic. ig the tobey maguire movies made the impression that spiderman has to be an unimpressive nerd sentiment popular.

As person who was born in 2006 and grew up on and loved all the Raimi films. I got to say The Amazing Spider-Man was probably my favorite spiderman movie. Idk just something about the vibes and borderline realism with certain aspects like making the suit and web shooters just had me obsessed. Now that I’m older I do like how they spent more time showing that Peter wasn’t trying to necessarily be a hero after getting his power. He was angry and vengeful he really didn’t even become Spider-Man until after he saved those people on the bridge

I recently rewatched TASM and I still love the first movie. The second one, not so much. The first movie to me has always been a very grungy and grounded take on Spider-Man, the cinematography was amazing, a stark contrast from the clean and saturised MCU films. It had so much bold decisions creatively which I always loved, The suit for example, people HATED that suit, even since late 2011 when the first leaks of it were shown online, But I personally love it, it fits well with Peter's state of mind in the movie, it wasn't perfect and it wasn't trying to be.

@@Nova_4444 Have you never even seen the Sam Raimi movies, or the Spider-Verse movies? Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and Spider-Man 2 (2004) are WAY better than the Andrew Garfield movies or the MCU movies. It's fine to have a personal favorite people might disagree with, but when you start claiming specific movies are "the best" you're gonna have to back that up somehow. TASM2 & NWH are absolutely not the best Spider-man movies. TASM2 has the best web swinging scenes but it also has some of the worst script writing I've ever seen in a movie. Horribly written villains and so much wasted screen time on the backstory of Peter's father which didn't matter at all. The way they handled Harry and Norman Osborne and their sickness was soooo lazy, and Dane Dehaan's acting was straight up terrible. NWH is pure weaponized nostalgia with so many stupid plot points and convenient moments that ask you to suspend your disbelief to a ridiculous degree. They way they got Dr. Strange to agree to casting that spell in the first place was completely idiotic, and the entire story depends on that plot point. Half the movie's entertainment value comes from old actors reprising their roles and making the audience feel nostalgia, but that doesn't work on anyone who hasn't seen the old Spider-Man movies or the TV show Daredevil. It's a lazy way to add entertainment value and it excludes large sections of the audience from enjoying the movie's full potential. When we went to see it in the theater my brother had no idea who Matt Murdock was, so he was just confused watching that scene. He's also never seen the Raimi trilogy so he didn't care about any of those characters coming back. I loved it, he thought it was mediocre, and we're both right. Spider-Man 2 and Into the Spider-Verse are the only two I would say are genuinely great movies. Well written, acted, & directed. Good music, great action scenes, and no need for nostalgia. Although I also like Spider-Man (2002) and the first Amazing Spider-Man (2012) a lot as well.

The reason why the original trilogy and TASM1 were memorable, was because of the producer LAURA ZISKIN It was because of her and her husband (the screenwriter Alvin Sargent) that the movies had depth AVI ARAD on the other hand, just wanted to use the movies to sell toys Unfortunately, she died in 2011, during the production of this movie Without her, there was no one to stop Arad from destroying the franchise again Spider-Man was nothing without her

He'd probably forget about the killer by this point.

I tear up every time I listen to Andrew talk about the character. Gah. He just GETS IT. This film had a darker and more serious tone and I miss that in film making. Everything is so cheesy and all about setting up the punchline now. These movies needed a more concise plot and they would’ve never cancelled them… I also feel Gwen was killed off too early, but in hindsight I am glad or else we would’ve never gotten that insane performance and a movie scene that can still make me cry THIRTEEN years after the fact.

The film being an origin story was a mistake. The movie would have been way better if Peter was in college and used to be Spider-Man. In the comics Peter met Gwen and Curt Connors in college and the movie should have done the same thing. And he also met Harry in college in the comics and that would have developed their friendship subplot way better.

The only things I don't really like from this film is the focus on Peter's parents, which never were really big in the comics, and it's also not very compelling here. And the suit also. I get that it is his first one, but Holland's first suit is also homemade but fits better and sends the message better. James horner is an oscar-worthy composer, these were by far the best talented cast, and some scenes here were brilliant (lizard's hand reflection scene is genius). There was great chemistry with Emma stone too. It helps that they were actually dating irl at that point. I don't remember people really hating this movie back then, it was just held back a bit by the suit and the obvious comparisons with raimi's trilogy. Too bad the second film was so weird. It also had a great composer, it has the best suit to date, but the plot was very convoluted, goblin jr was really... off... and the overload of villains really hurt.

Absolutely loved Andrew's Spider-Man. Most comic book movies up until then had been campy and tried adapting the material literally. That never works, yet studios are still doing it today. TASM had everything I ever wanted from Spider-Man: a darkness, realism, an incredible amount of heart, internal struggles, growth. I know they rode the Nolan wave, but it was so refreshing. I wish the studio would've let Marc Webb and everyone tell the story they wanted without screwing up TASM 2 so irredeemably. I felt sad for Andrew. As a huge spider-man fan who read the og spider-man comic I can confidently say that The Amazing Spider-Man is the best modern live-action movie adaptation of Spider-Man and also the most authentic and best portrayal of Peter Parker, Andrew's portrayal felt really realistic and not a caricature

Andrew Garfield was the best Peter and Spiderman we got. Sad that everyone packed a sad about not having toby anymore. He deserved to have a venom ark

I absolutely agree with every single thing you said. This iteration of Spider-Man and these movies are so underrated. They deserve much more love than the mcu baby iron man jr. Spidey stuff. Andrew Spidey should've been in the mcu. He would be much better, more accurate and more likeable.

I would argue that this movie isn’t that hated. It’s underrated. It has issues, for sure, but it’s leagues better than its sequel.

I was thinking about a sequel video, but because you asked now I have to make it. Agreed on Far From Home as well. I felt like it dragged. Amazing Spider-Man on Top!

Andrews spidey is the only one i relate to. Im an outcast. Im intelligent. I stand up for others even when it gets me in shit. But im not a stuffy nerd like tobey marguire’s spiderman. I love all movies but the amazing spiderman are the ones that actually speak to me on a personal level. The way they deal with him feeling abandoned by his dad (i had an absent father) was also relatable

For gen z, Andrew is our spiderman. I felt ashamed of saying it in 2014 because everyone seemed to hate the movie but I’m realising everyone secretly loved the Marc Webb movies

I really dislike the whole saying: "Tobey's was the best Peter Parker, Andrew's was the best Spider-Man and Tom's is the best of both." the correct saying should be: "Tobey and Tom's take on Spider-Man is best for their time, Andrew's is the most comic accurate out of all of them." the Webb movies may have been bad but his and Andrew's take on Spider-Man is what I would've imagined Spider-Man to be when I was a kid.

When this came out I loved it. I also grew up and saw the Tobey version but I never hated either. Both were great in their own ways even AMS2 for me. Sure it was weird but it was still pretty good and Spiderman was shmoving. The sudden love wagon out of nowhere kinda was lame to me. Hot take but the TAMS suit was a banger and fire. Like the material it was made made more sense than just cloth the Tobey suit isn’t made of pajama material like TAMS2 suit. Plus the Insomniac suit takes inspiration from TMAS suit and people love that one so I never understood the hate for the first suit

Hold on here... Peter Parker loses his nerdish geekness the moment he gets his powers which was beautifully portrayed by Garfield. That's why Mcguire's spiderman didn't resonate with me as the writers kept that persona even after his powers. Garfield to me is the best Spiderman.
