Commonwealth Stadium might be the largest in normal capacity, but the Olympic Stadium in Montreal seats over 60,000 when used for Football and Soccer.

I've been to the five stadiums mentioned by name in Ontario and Quebec. BMO is definitely the best of those five. But travelling with TFC supporters to Saputo and making the fan march from the Pie IX station is probably the best experience. Although the "Miracle in Montreal" game where we made the march from the Olympic Stadium station was absolutely bonkers. There were over 1000 of us that night. For anybody that hasn't been to Montreal, right there between Olympic Stadium and Saputo Stadium is the Montreal Biodome (which I believe was the velodrome for the '76 Olympics) and that place is amazing. Definitely worth the subway ride.

Just to clarify, Hockey is indeed the most popular sport in Canada, and it has been Canada's "official" Winter Sport since the mid 1980's. Before that, our National Sport was Lacrosse, which still remains Canada's "official" summer sport (strange considering the box lacrosse season starts in December and ends in April, bypassing summer completely.) Luckily, field lacrosse starts just before box lacrosse ends, making us seem less insane for calling it our "summer" sport. Box Lacrosse, and basketball (also invented by a Canadian) both play their games in hockey stadiums, so omitting them was a less than ideal call, demonstrating a football bias that exists far less here (even though field lacrosse, American-style football, football and rugby are played in football stadiums, their revenues pail in comparison to basketball and hockey. We also have great places to play Baseball! Most of us, being obstinate as we are, continue to call Rogers Centre "Skydome" thanks to its retractable roof that actually works! (personally, I'm offended by corporate naming rights of stadiums built with taxpayer funds, so it will always be 'Skydome', a name submitted by a Torontonian in a contest. A plaque at the entrance stating; "Skydome is financially supported by Rogers Communications"' would be more appropriate.) Anyway, it's "Skydome" regardless of what Rogers wants us to call it. It's a smaller stadium (10,000 permanent seats and 2000 optional bleachers) but deserved more attention in your video if for no other reason than it's unique roof design, contribution to our skyline, and being home of the Toronto Blue Jays.
@Seriously_Unserious2 жыл бұрын
How about if Rogers had called it "Rogers SkyDome" and kept the cool name in there? FYI, there's also a "Rogers Centre" in Vancouver - it's the arena the Canucks play in.
@PeBoVision2 жыл бұрын
@@Seriously_Unserious Yup, I'm aware, and find it more than ridiculous that multiple cities, who each have their own historic figures to commemorate, have Stadiums named after the same corporate entity (Not as disturbing as a stadium named after a bank as in Scotiabank Arenas). Skydome is especially problematic, as it was acquired for pennies on the dollars of the cost of construction. Hardly warrants naming rights in my mind.
