Deep Space Nine is my favorite iteration of Trek, but the inspirational quote that comes to mind immediately is from "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country": Kirk: "Spock, you want to know something?, Everybody's Human." (We all have something in common, a baseline he calls "human," even if we're from vastly different heritages) Captain Spock: "I find that remark... insulting." (Spock's tone is anything but insulted, though; it's vaguely amused. He accepts his friend's meaning, feels their underlying connection.)

My favorite Star Trek quote was actually said by Neelix on the episode Author Arthur: "when the road divides into two take the third path." I love this quote because so often in life we are told things are either black or white and yet often black and white are just not going to solve all the issues. Because life isn't black and white just filled with shades of grey. So this quote often reminds me to always be looking for a unique answer that hopefully will solve the problems better than the easy one this way or that way can.

The part in Insurrection where Picard confronted the admiral. "How many people does it take, Admiral, before it becomes wrong? Hmm? A thousand, fifty thousand, a million? This is more relevant now because of what's happening in Palestine (many others, too) and the amount of denialism and acceptance of genocide on such a scale despite being shared and livestreamed as it happens. This sentence was also used against the actor who is currently playing Christopher Pike in Strange New Worlds when he pretty much said some insane stuff on Twitter.

Sisko's got so many great quotes. His closing defense of Worf in Rules of Engagement came to mind....Tell Me Advocate? Isn't it possible? And the command lesson in Worf's quarters right after it hit home as far as my own decision making. Every time he yells. In Bar Association. The chat with Quark about the platinum. "Are you questioning the validity of my plan?" And the 'to hell with you' explosion is the most emotive performance I have ever seen. "It's real, and I created it, and it's real !" You can't destroy an idea. Every odo line from "take me out to the holosuite" "Target that explosion and fire!" What does God need with a starship. Picard's Hamlet quote said with conviction is pretty dang amazing. Data telling all that it is the struggle itself that is important.........the effort yields it's own rewards.
