You should look at the type of plastic container you are using, as the nail polish remover comes in a plastic container. I think you will find that the nail polish remover comes in High-density polyethylene (HDPE) and that plastic container you use was Polypropylene (PP). The recycling symbol can be use to tell the difference.

I just bought a large mini off eBay, the Glottkin, and have been struggling to work out how to strip the two smaller characters on top, and leave the larger one because I didn't want to do such a big soak. fun fact: Before I saw this video I wanted to try out what happens when I put my mini in just plain water, and I kinda just left it there and after a couple of weeks, I checked it and I could peel off the paint with my fingers, and the (resin) mini underneath was totally clean, no primer or anything on it! so if you have all the time in the world, this might also work :D

Thanks for a very informative video. I use Purple Power available in the automotive department at Walmart or Oil Eater from an auto parts store. Both are biodegradable and reasonably safe for skin contact for a short period although they will "degrease" your fingers too. Removes chrome and paint on most models in just a few minutes to a couple hours. I've left models in it over night with no bad effects.

It's biostrip 20 for metal models & pure alcohol for plastics in my opinion. Idip in EPA for a few hours, use a tooth brush & then an old paint brush to get any paint left in cracks. Genestealers are a pretty extreme model to strip due to the nooks & crannies. If you don't know what primer was used on the models it's not truly a fair test in my opinion though.
@TheAll-InNerd
@TheAll-InNerd Жыл бұрын
The primer used on the genestealers was Chaos black with a zenithal of Grey Seer from Citadel. The Razorback/Rhino was bought painted so with that one I didn’t know what kind of primer that was used. So I guess that Biostrip wouldn’t be the best choice if you don’t know what paint and primer that’s been used. That’s a downside of buying second hand that you want to strip. Best of luck stripping!

13:20 NEVER just dunk your models in the Biostrip tub (This will ruin the rest of the Biostrip). Instead put some Biostrip on the model like a layer of paint and leave them in an airtight tub or jar for best results. I find it only takes 30 minutes to remove most paint for plastic models.

@@jeffmckenzie7282 Between primer and paintcoats the models got atleast 12 hour curing time. But it was days after painting them before I stripped them. cant imagine even considering brake fluid with all the other options available lol. any method is going to require a deal of scrubbing / work to get it all off and an average of a couple hours. for time, cost, convenience / availability, simplicity and performance... just go rubbing alcohol. stronger the better but 70% works just fine. the paste stuff to brush on for larger items might be worth it though.

Our local game store did a group experiment in with the local gamer group in the mid-90's where we tested all those products you did plus a number of others you did not mention that we have in the states. One that our store used and won was Pine-sol. Pine-sol was non toxic, non flammable, cheap, and you can keep it the kitchen with the family. Does not need rubber gloves to work with. Will not eat plastic and took care of some really old paint. Not very special and every hard ware store in America has it. Again safe for children .
