La Roche Posay sunscreens tend to burn my eyes really bad, but I love how they perform and set on the skin!
@roseyp70473 жыл бұрын
I thought I found a holy grail sunscreen for my dry/sensitive skinwith the La Roche Posay cooling water resistant sunscreen. I looked great under makeup, it replaced my moisturizer, ect. Come to find out that not only are chemical sunscreens bad for dry, sensitive skin to begin with but the 3rd ingredient is Dentured Alcohol. No good! Since then I watched a number of videos talking about how most of La Roche Posay sunscreens aren’t great. Now I’m back on the hunt and I get damn overwhelmed that I’m ready to just pick up a nuetrogena one made for your face and call it a day.

@sarahmunson17782 жыл бұрын
@@nyeguono hi! It did cause some stinging on my face, where I'm super sensitive. My body was totally fine with it though. I ended up not using it on my face because of the stinging. And yes, there is definitely a significant white cast. I've since found the Pipette sunscreen, which has become my wintertime holy grail. In the summer it's a bit too heavy. Not a very noticable white cast and never stings. The Biossance sunscreen is pretty much the same thing but with less white cast and a smoother texture, and more expensive.

I've been using the LRP Anthelios face sunscreen for years. It is a bit pricey in the US at around $35. BUT, the brand new bottle I just started using burned my eyes. (Frustrated!) The Neutrogena sensitive skin sunscreen for the face does not bother my eyes because it is a mineral sunscreen, but it leaves a white cast. So, I've been using them at the same time, applying the mineral product around my eyes and the other on my face. I think I will buy some of the Garnier products, just to support their new CT statue😃💖

Yes the Paula's Choice Calm Collection SPF 30 mineral moisturizer is great. I use the whole collection on my sensitive oily/combo skin. I recommend the Australian Gold Botanical SPF 50. It's 100% Mineral, water resistant, fragrance free, cruelty free, affordable (in Canada) and comes in three shades. I really like the supergood bright eye serum...in fact I use that product on my lips. The problem with most sunscreen lip balm is that it does not work well on top of any lipsticks/lipgloss (always takes the lip product off and feels heavy). I use the eye serum as a base on my lips and it not only moisturize my lips without greasiness but it does not affect my lipstick application at all.

I'll definitely check some of these out, thanks! Great video, as always!❤️ Last year I had FOUR holy grail sunscreens that didn't sting my eyes and didn't dry out my skin. This year... they're ALL unavailable. 😭💔 Two went down in the sunscreen apocalypse, one is discontinued for unknown reasons (low sales, probably), and one was reformulated to suck because somebody decided it should be silicone free.🙄 So, I've got an arsenal of sunscreens I'm trying and I continue to be disappointed. Lip SPFs are another thing I'm struggling with. My perfect lip product is SPF 30+, mineral (or a chemical one that miraculously doesn't sting chapped lips and taste disgusting), AND hydrating/moisturizing. I'm convinced it doesn't exist above SPF 15. I've had friends tell me, "You should make one! You have a chemistry degree" like you can just go make a sunscreen that easily.🤷🏻♀️😆 Rob, if you make a lip product that meets that criteria someday I will personally go door-to-door in Chicago telling people to buy your stuff...and you will not have to pay me a dime!🤣❤️

Hi Kara I am super sensitive and am able to use the ultrasun lip spf30. I can't use the face formulations since I developed rosacea (they contain alcohol), but the lip spf never burns/stings even when my lips are chapped. It's a Swiss brand and you would have to order from an international site, but it's £6 here in the UK. It isn't waxy (yuck) and doesn't taste horrible. I find it to be moisturising tbh. I haven't tried the vanicream one available where you are, but Dr Dray recommends it highly - might be worth a try. I've also heard sun bum do a flavour free one, but the one available here is flavoured and I try to avoid that for sore lips. I hope that helps. ps the ultrasun I can use on my eczema prone body skin as they're all fragrance free.

Haha thank you so so much hun and I totally agree with you on the need for a lip product like that but like you say it does take some time to formulate but watch this space :) ... @@lorainemcgillivray77 I've tried the vanicream one, and it was okay...but the white cast was crazy even with my pale complexion!😆 I do keep it in my bag but don't love it. I HAVE to apply it in a mirror or my (usually oblivious) husband ends up going, "Uh, is your upper lip supposed to be white like that?"😆 The Sun Bum mineral one one was the worst texture of any lip product I've ever used and made my lips feel dry.😬 Thanks for that other rec! I'll do some Googling to see if I can find it!❤️

I second Loraine's Ultrasun recommendation, they also do an SPF50 version! I like the non-sticky, non-glossy finish. Often sold out so worth grabbing if you see it! If you prefer something that feels more nourishing and don't mind dropping to SPF25 in winter, Jack Black's Intense Lip Therapy is great. Chemical filters but the unscented version was fine on my sensitive chapped lips, ymmv. A bit sticky if overapplied Paula's Choice do a SPF50 lip balm, also chemical filters but looks otherwise reassuringly bland - I haven't tried it as it's quite pricey, but it comes with a James Welsh stamp of approval

Totally agree skin is so unique especially when it comes to sensitivity triggers. La Roche Posay works amazing for my skin, doesn’t burn or sting the eyes but I know it burns for others :p there’s the round lab (reformulated) that people swear is great for sensitive skin... that makes my skin tingle or even burn when my barrier is compromised. It always burns my eyes 🔥 So weird! Shows you just got to try things out to know what works for your skin.

Hello!! I love your channel and the content you share. That is why I turn to you to help me out with a question that I have in relation to mineral sunscreens. I suffer from seborrheic dermatitis and my extremely oily skin is also terribly sensitive. So I don't use makeup at all and my skincare routine is pretty minimal: cleanser + moisturizer + sunscreen. The sunscreen I use at the moment is chemical (Isntree Hyaluronic Watery Sun Gel spf50 PA ++++). I feel that it does not irritate my skin despite containing 6 filters, but my skin feels a bit hot after the application and sometimes during the day, also when I work for a long time at the computer my skin becomes red, which gives me to think that it does not protect from blue rays or infrared light. As for physical sunscreens, I tend not to prefer them because they are generally oily, heavy, the white cast they leave behind is terrible and they tend to accumulate in my already super-enlarged pores. I have been trying Clinique spf 30/50 mineral sunscreen (the 50 is slightly heavier), I like it because it has few ingredients, it is easy to spread and it is not so terrible in the first application, but after several reapplications I become a ghost!!. However, I noticed something particular that I had not experienced with chemical sunscreens, and that is that my skin did not feel hot or red at any time of the day, even when working in front of the computer for several hours. So my question is: How to reapply a mineral sunscreen when not wearing makeup? or how to counteract the whitish effect with these sunscreens? I know the importance of using tinted sunscreens vs. untinted sunscreens, because they provide superior protection. My question has always been on how to use this type of sunscrees, since a generous amount must be applied to obtain good protection and with a mineral tinted spf, well... I don't know, I wouldn't know how to make them work. I would appreciate any kind of help you can give me. Thank you!!

The blue lizard sunscreen seems very interesting to me. There are lots of great sunscreens that aren’t available in Canada (including the blue lizard). I've become sensitive since using tretinoin, even at a very low dose. Mineral is less irritating for me.
@lorainemcgillivray773 жыл бұрын
Hi Rob the paula's choice calm and the skinceuticals are my current face, neck and chest spf's. My face is ultrasensitive with both rosacea and eczema, meaning the alcohol in some of the more affordable brands is a major issue. My eczema prone body however can handle a little alcohol and on that I use ultrasun - a long term favourite though still a bit pricey. They do mainly chemical new generation filters, but also have a mineral line I like. I also love their lip spf30 - doesn't taste horrible, not waxy and actually moisturises the lip. It's around £6 here in the UK, so doesn't break the bank either. I've decided to spend the bulk of my skincare budget on the most important items to me - spf and retinoids. For the rest I stick to more affordable Western brands and K beauty. This means no fancy cleansers or moisturisers, as it's not a section of skincare where there aren't decent affordable options. Even serums can be affordable whilst still giving the benefits i'm looking for. It's always personal choice, but when spf is such a nightmare for those of us who are super sensitive it's important to use something that doesn't make my skin crazy. I wish the more affordable garnier or LRP spf's worked for me on the face, but so far I haven't found one that does. Best wishes.

Many thanks for the helpful advice, Rob! I have very sensitive eyes and wearing sunscreen has been a massive struggle. I've made an order for the Blue Lizard sunscreen you recommend. Fingers crossed x

How was the blue lizard? I've got sensitive eyes too, nothing too bad but they will sting after a few hours of sunscreen
@nasianikolova2 жыл бұрын
@@jesspp6587 I wouldn't really recommend it. While it doesn't sting (which is a big plus), it's quite thick and has an intense white cast even on my fair skin. Might be ok under makeup. It seemed to work better for the body, in my experience.
@jesspp65872 жыл бұрын
@@nasianikolova thanks! Yeah, it's hard finding something that doesn't sting the eyes, but that also doesn't leave a white cast!

Love the video. I’m glad you put out so many sunscreen videos, cause it’s so tricky to find the right one for me and my family. The only sunscreen that worked for me (extremely sensitive, rosacea, acne prone skin) was Purito, it didnt sting my eyes and did wonders for my skin. But RIP. Now I’ve tested out at least 30 different sunscreens and I’ve currently landed on biore uv watery essence. It has been great for my skin and eyes. Though lately I’ve been getting a slight sensitivity at the end of the day (after using it daily for 2 months). I’ve tried most of your recommendations and they didnt work for me and stung my eyes or made me flare up. The only one I havent tried is the super goop one. I’m going to see if it works! For the moms: I have two girls and next to Purito I’m getting them on the biore now as well. My eldest is highly sensitive and doesnt mind these lovely korean and japanese formulations. So pro tip for the moms to get your kids hooked on sunscreen.

Yesss! You are a psychic, I was literally looking for sunscreen for sensitive skin! Also unrelated: are there any skincares products you recommend for swimmers? I swim in a public pool around 3 times a week and at the same time have acne prone sensitive skin , So it is very hard to find products that moisturize and hydrate after a swimming session and that don't overload my skin and lead to breakouts ! Thanks a lot for all your videos
@MadAboutSkin3 жыл бұрын
Haha thats amazing timing for sure... I would recommend something like a ceramics cream for when you get out of the pool as the chlorine in the water can damage the skin barrier and cause things like dryness or acne issues... ceramics will help repair that and should be applied as soon as you have washed your skin after getting out of the pool.. sending you so much love xxxxx

I quite like it, didn't burn or irritate my eyes. It is very thick and leaves a white cast ( I'm fairly fair and still noticeable) but settles in fairly quickly. I used it last summer and no reaction to the sun( I get tiny water blisters in the sun) so definitely protected me.

Hey, no problem at all. No my skin absorbed it fine, although I have quite dry skin. It's probably not one for someone with oily skin as it's so thick.

Thank you for this amazing video!!!! :) I'm just wondering whether it's bad that some sunscreens, e.g. the Garnier sensitive fluid one, has Alcohol denat in it. Is this something we should worry about? Or is it ok that it is in the sunscreen? I have heard that overtime it can damage the skin and might not protect the skin in future, but not sure if this is true! Please let me know, thanks!! :)
@MadAboutSkin3 жыл бұрын
Hi hun thank you so so much for watching and I dont think alcohol is an issue so long as you dont have a sensitivity to it.. the studies which show long term issues are newer and its hard to find a peer reviewed one which is why I dont pay a lot of attention to them..
