I've been addicted to watches since the 1960s when I was a kid. I always checked out my Dad's watches and also the watches my uncles wore. They are vintage now. My first watch was a mechanical watch my parents bought me for Christmas 1970. I was hooked from then. I love these Swiss watches here.

I agree in that I’ve had an INOX for a bit over 5 years now and used it under all manner of conditions. Its a quartz version It’s been fantastic . For me the size is ok but I fully understand demand for a smaller one. They desperately need a new design department, the engineering is great , but it’s looking boring and needs modernising and facelift it and soon.

I like that Marathon a lot. There’s a certain KZbin watch reviewer who says that a deep set dial cheapens a watch but I beg to differ. Sometimes, like with this Marathon, there’s a reason for it being set so deep. Nice list, Teddy. A lot of great watches here.

I wore the Glycine Airman while flying in the Air Force during Vietnam. Obviously, the price was different then. All air crew members seem to have these and we bought these at the basic exchange in Okinawa. They are far more versatile than the government issued watch at that time. obviously, we are dealing with the number of different time zones and this one fit the criteria perfectly. Years later, when I got into collecting watches, I stumbled across this old friend and, immediately, purchased one. Not the most expensive watch I own, but for a number different reasons, I absolutely love it!

I had had quartz watches before that had come and gone without leaving a mark, but the Tissot LeLocle Powermatic 80 (gold PVD, brown leather strap) was my first mechanical and first swiss watch. My wife gave it to me for our 10 year dating (not marriage) anniversary. When I held it and admired it I knew instantly that I had something special in my hands, but I didn't know what it was, so down the watch rabbit hole I went. That Tissot is the watch I'll never sell.

This is a very pertinent list for me - I'm not a high roller and won't be able to afford the mid-high end Swiss watches (but would love to have at least one!) as future addition to my modest collection would be a Swiss, dress watch.. so your recommendations are food for thought. Keep up the great work!😃

Great Video - I appreciate this category, so many high quality swiss automatics. I own a Hamilton Pilot day date and it's my go to daily watch. I 'm glad you mentioned Glycine, as well. I own a combat sub and it's such a great value - For around $300 you're getting a Caliber SW200 automatic, Sapphire crystal, Screw down crown. Case size: 42 mm. with a thin 10.6 mm thickness and water resistant at 200 meters. a lot of watch for the money.

Only 1 Rado, wanting the Captain Cook(I live in Sydney) and only 1 Omega, the Bond Seamaster in black) wanting the Speedy. I have 100 Invicta( don't hold that against me, they were by gateway drug!) @@drfathertime They are the same tier but they really offer different catalogs. It's much more obvious at the next tier with Rado and Longines. Basically it's very difficult to find watches between the same tier that'll compete with each other. But if you look at watches from different tiers, you'll find similar looks between various tiers. Omega De Ville, Longines Master, Tissot Gentleman... Another example is Omega Seamaster 300M and Mido Seastar. This is neat if you like the looks of an expensive watch but can't afford it, you can potentially find a cheaper one that you like too.

As someone who is looking to buy their first watch, do you suggest getting an automatic or quartz? I love the Tissot Gentleman but not sure which model to get but I do understand the price differences between the two types. Additionally, do you recommend getting that Tissot model in a metal band or leather band? Which is more versatile in your opinion? Thanks for your help and great video!

I was surprised and pleased to see Swatch on this list. The sistem Brushed was my second “real” watch. And the Brushed proves that you can find more subtle watches from Swatch - nothing crazy, looks like a classic watch. And this movement CAN be serviced on some of their sistem watches. But is it worth it? Maybe if you have some nice, retired one. I’ve actually got plans for about two more from Swatch.

Loved your picks. What is Lug to Lug and how are watches measured to show this. Also does Omega have any new lower price points for those starting out. I luckily received 2 vintage from my Father and a Seamaster from my wife and I'm dedicated to the Omega Brand. Thank you.

How about Eterna and Certina? They are good options for people with large wrists. Tissot heritage petite seconde is also worth mentioning.

Teddy, Happy Holidays! Love your channel. Curious- have you ever looked at the Tissot Visodate quartz model? I think it’s an underrated piece.
