I hate that it sits lower but I agree that the trade off is worth it. I didn't realize it tilted up all the way when I first got it so I was really disappointed. But being able to tilt it up slightly makes all the difference

@@Nick2JZ For me, yes I tried, and it did NOT work. Nope. When the mount flips upside down, the middle of the bracket (where his fingers was pointing at 03:15) would hit against the white (or wood) panel in the back of it, and this prevents the bracket from being fully seated. So, when the bracket is not completely seated, the 2 screws on both sides can't go in. I tried. Yes, the screen will be lowered by about 1.5 inches. What you can do is to tilt up. That'll help.

I was fine up to the point where I put the last two screws into the screen and the new bracket, from the back side, and they are near impossible to line up with the holes on the new bracket and then start the threads going in. It took several hours, one of the most frustrating things I've ever done. Also my yoke steering wheel covers the bottom left of the display, I was hoping that the tilt and swivel would alievate that, but now there is even more of the bottom left corner of the screen obscured. It needs a side to side to side adjustment. I could modify the bottom of the new bracket and drill and thread a new holefurther to the right on the left side, and the right side would need to extend the length of the bracket to add another hole there, but not today.

Finally a video where you couldn't fit the back plate. I spent hours on this. It fits when the bracket is NOT in but as soon as it is, it wont clip in at the top. So not sure whether that's a Tesla issue or the bracket issue....

Pretty useful mod. Only thing I think that could improve it would be having the swivel have notches so you can try and set it in a certain position? Good guide though Brandon

I had the exact same problem with the bracket trim piece bulging on the left side. Mine was so bad that I had to bore out the screw holes with a drill so that I could actually push the swivel bracket down farther into the Tesla receivers. I also filed down part of the receiver so that the bracket trim would sit more flush with the dash trim. What should have been a half hour install turned into a 3+ hour ordeal. It is 100% a Tesla build quality issue.

Is there any way to mount this so the screen doesn’t sit lower then it did while stock? I have 2023 Y and it now sits almost 2” lower than stock…. I’m a bit disappointed

This style of video reminds me of the videos I made as a kid. I like that little Mount. I think the only reason it swivels isn’t a convenience, it’s so they don’t have to make separate models for RHD and LHD😂 and you forgot the steering wheel table link. Relatable

I just realised after installing the swivel that ii cant have the double shelf above and below the screen that connects magnetically. It was quite useful but amywaysm one or the other

Interior. Is it reporting 20C or 86F for temperature? That's what it shows if the sensor is unplugged.

Tesla doesn't like it and here in Austria they don't care as long as you don't have any problems with the display. Modifying the car yourself would effectively void the warranty. My recommendation: Do it only when you are out of warranty.
