When professionals or even just more experienced climbers give advice I feel like it's a great gift. Sometimes we just need a bit of support, a different viewpoint, Beta or whatnot to help us overcome challenges and/or improve.

I think in the climbing community, people are eager to give advice or when asked, always tries to help. I really love this part of climbing, no ego just helping and having fun together.

Getting support from strong climbers instantly manifests in me wanting to try harder.

that's such a simple, seemingly obvious yet so hard to implement and overlooked piece of advice. it really takes the conscious effort to push through this mental barrier and execute. from an observer it probably looks so easy to just try and stick with the moves but when the pump and panic starts welling up it takes discipline and almost ignorance to do what's necessary. in the wise words of Frank Herbert "FEAR IS THE MIND KILLER"

That is one underrated advice indeed. Last year I was on this rock trip, after a strenuous 10h drive I finally arrived at this little town of a famous crag around here. Sooner than you might think I was at the bar to relax a little and to hear about the latest news about the crag development. The place was infested with every kind of strong climbers. They were all drinking and talking about each others projects etc, all the famous 8b's and and 8c's they were intending to send and bla bla bla. Then one specific climber was directly asked "And you man, what is your project this season here?", his answer was clear and sound "My project is to be pumped as hell and keep going". His words were powerful, and stuck with me. After a week there it is no surprise that he had the best and fastest sends of that crew. At first it seems a no-brainer right ? Of course we have to fight our way through the pump to send hard routes, and yet, how many times we just quit the effort prematurely? It takes a mental attitude to try hard every time, even when it feels hopeless. To climb well when a terrible pump is eroding all your focus is really a fine art.

I spent two weeks in Sella with Klemen and Jany last year. Klemen helped me go from 12d to 13b. Just being around Klemen and absorbing his advice has made me a significantly better climber. Interesting you had a similar experience!

Agreed! Klemen has an aura that makes you want to try hard.

Anecdotal but I think everybody experienced this: you are hanging on a failing hand, but need to explode upwards to the next move. If you just try to pinch and pull really hard, you will fall. But if your whole body engages in the movement, then you might just make it to the next saving hold :)

Great to see you had lovely time in europe. Klemen is a great coach ❤

Clemen’s only advice for me was to climb until you fall! Pretty good advice.

Hey! I used to love your channel because you can explain technique in a really good way and show loads of good examples underlining your words. But recently i did not watch any of your content due to the clickbait titles („dont follow these rules“ , „why you are not improving“). In your older videos you wrote in the title what the video is about (maximise reach, hold the swing, body tension…) and it was up to me, if I would like to get new input on these topics or not, and usually i clicked on the vid and learned a couple of new things. I hope that you will state the topic/technique again in your future videos. Wish you the best and kind regards Jonas

click baity titles annoy me too, but hey. Its that or half the views nowadays. I try to just overlook that and support my favorite content creators if the actual video remains as good as its always been

I dislike clickbait titles, as well, and from one perspective I think presenting oneself as a coach or similar with this clickbait approach is just unbecoming, but at the same time this is generating viewership for his coaching content. Isn't wrong advice or similar, just a little harder to parse and understanding the easily parsed information is his content platform.

I didn't send El Delfin (5.13A) when I was there this year. Just wanted to project it a bit and see how it went. I'd done a few 5.13As before this trip and they were all local projects. I think it'll go next year...
